Read the whole series first

I wish I had read the whole series first but overall this book was entertaining. The last book was my favorite. I recommend this book to only people who have watched all the Star Wars movies . I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Who Doesn't Love Pandas?

Pandas are a wonderful subject for one of the Magic Tree House books. The kids love them, but they learn here some of the realities of life for these endangered animals.

This is a terrific series, and it's nice to have an audible version. Can't help wishing, tho, that Mary Pope Osborne would allow someone else to "read" them. She obviously cares about the material, but I think children would benefit from a professional narrator.

Talented Mr Cowley a mismatch for Railsea

China Miéville's writing is both dense and fragmentedreading it aloud is no easy task, so it is no great criticism of Jonathan Cowley to say that he is not suited for the role he has assumed in narrating Railsea. His reading is warm and personal, but he stumbles on the nuances of the languagethose the finicky inflections and the odd staccato that characterizes the calculated casualness of Mr Miéville's distinct voice. Much is lost as a result, and the narrative seems murkier and less impressive than it does on the page.

It would have been more difficult to isolate the faults of Mr Cowley's performance had it not been for narrator John Lee's masterful renditions of previous works by Mr Miéville. Mr Lee has a rare crispness in his delivery that allows Mr Miéville's punctuation to survive the transition from the written to the oral miraculously intact. We can only hope that he will bestow his talent on Railsea somewhere down the line, for this novel, while not as awe-inspiring as Mr Miéville's best works, is still worthy of the best possible delivery.

Cowley not suited for Mieville

China Mieville is verbose and dense, there's nothing more to be said about it. His descriptions are rich. Maybe I'll try reading the physical book, that does seem to go better.

Cowley's narration is simply flat. It sounds as though he was unfamiliar with the writer and the subject matter, and even the underlying theme of the book. I'm sure he's done great work previously, but I'm not sure he's suited to this type of dark, misty SF.

Machines to Make Chaos into Story

I enjoyed it. Not fantastic Miéville, but an amazingly constructed universe. The story was well-developed and the characters were interesting. Very steampunky. Very weird. But when Miéville is ON he is really ON and his prose train is moving. There is a genius engine under his hood.

Better than the first two of the series

If you could sum up The Bell Bandit in three words, what would they be?

Wow! This book really improved on the series with Evan and Jessie getting along and using the skills of each other to 'get the job done'.

Grandma's bell has disappeared and two mean boys now live in the neighborhood. Maxwell rescues a frog, Jessie finds Grandma when she gets lost and Evan proves he has skills of his own. All ends well with the New Year being rung in, literally.

Cute, funny, patriotic

What made the experience of listening to I Am a Pole (And So Can You!) the most enjoyable?

The story is funny and cute, and I knew that the money I paid was going to a good cause (America's veterans).

It might be inspirational.

This is the least professional audiobook i've ever listened to. It's also the funniest. I might have been inspired if I wasn't choking on my laughter.

Deal of the century!

For a fraction of the price of the hardcover or e-book version, I got the audiobook, some comic banter between Tom Hanks and Stephen Colbert, and a PDF file with all the illustrations (slightly out of sequence, but not a big deal). It's a lovely story, with rhymes and puns to boot, and the illustrations are just as charming (is that Maurice Sendak saluting the flag at the end?) Since all the proceeds go to charity, I am tempted to buy the e-book version; $1.83 seems too modest a contribution to such a great cause. Well done, Colberty!

I Am A Fan (and So Will You!)

So sad that Maurice Sendak is no longer with us. This book, however, coming out almost literally on the day he died, stands as something of a tribute to his wit and style - and that of Stephen Colbert and Tom Hanks.

I don't want to make a review longer than the book (!), but, shucks, who wouldn't like this??

Hold your sides, you'll be laughing so hard!

I saw Stephen Colbert talking about this on his show, and even saw the interview with Maurice Sendak. The book was so short, I thought why not get it. It is very funny, and amazingly, a pretty well written book. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is NOT acutally a children's book, and unless you want to explain some of the inuenndo, I wouldn't let kids listen to it. The introduction and interruptions by Stephen Colbert let you know from the start what sort of book you're listening to.

Be Warned!

This is the exact same story as Spooks Destiney so dont waste your credit. Otherwise it is as good as all the others.

Great story, 1 letdown

The overall story was amazing and every second will have you on edge. the only complaint I have is that the big fight, with an unparalleled evil, seemed short, and easier than I had hoped for. There could have been a little more of a struggle when they fight the *spoiler*. But it was all over too quickly.

Constantly improving

As the tales goes on it is proving to only be better with each page. The growth of the characters and the trials they face, draw you in and cause worry and pride to surge through you. It is hard to tell which path either of them will take and what lay before them. To learn the answers to each rising question and nagging doubt, you are pressed to read on.

God this series seems to get better and better I love these books can't wait for the next

Christopher Evan Welch's performance is absolutely outstanding. His voices are incredible, he does atleast 30 throughout the series, all unique and great.
