Wonderful, I enjoyed every minuted

Narrator was awesome enjoyed listening to him. I love Mr. Carson's action pack books. Narrator brought it to life. This my second book of Mr. Carson will be buying more!

Flows from Book 5

If you didn't read/listen to book 5, do that first or you will be lost. And while I did not enjoy book 5 you really do need it to understand and enjoy book 6. Book 6 Smoked Out is more like the earlier 4 books with many key characters playing key roles in moving the story forward and yet also getting glimpse into who they are and what is important to them. Also in Book 6 Wolf's actions and behaviors are more constant with books 1-4 than with book 5 where he behaved out of character (getting drunk and into a fight). Although the character development is minimal in this book relying on the reader to have picked up information from book 5 and earlier. Book 6 brings closure to many issues left open in Book 5 and opens a new chapter/book opportunity for book 7. If you liked the earlier Wolf stories and/or listened to book 5 you owe it to your self to finish the story line from book 5 with book 6. I am already looking forward to the release of Book 7.

Creatures of the dark beware

Well another riveting adventure, weird dark creatures wanting to suck you dry, great characters: loved it. What is in the future for the Professor, looking forward to his next adventure. Sean Mangan again delivers a fantastic narration.

Not what I expected!

Not what I expected but a very good read! It was hard to put down, or pause, I'll be looking for more from Gregg Beck!

Imaginative adventure

Greig Beck is one of my favorite thriller authors, so I looked forward to my first audio book from him. The Immortality Curse is a ton of fun as a diverse group seeks out the ancient source of eternal life, taking them on a harrowing adventure where they encounter a conniving old woman, an enormous monster, and creepy critters. The ending was especially good, I thought, and I could see the potential for sequels coming off this one. I can't say too much without giving it all away! My only complaint was the narrator wasn't that great. However, if you love a grand adventure in the vein of Indiana Jones, you'll enjoy Greig Beck's books.

Not enough meat!

I have listened to all of Beck's book at this point and this one does not match up. There is too much minor action and not enough of the meaty stuff that he had in his other books. I have loved his stuff and would suggest you go to his other books instead. On the other hand Mangan's performance is as good as ever.

I'm not sure I will recommend this book because...

...As a writer I understand the need for poetic license and from time to time I use it quite liberally. But when it comes to the Bible I find it best not to rewrite the Author (2Tim 3:16). Not only will you insult people on a very personal level and get it wrong (like making the Nephilim the good guys (Gen 6:1-8), you run the risk of contaminating what's in the Bible with your own ideology. And for the record, Noah would have NEVER acted that way. Probably one of the best compliments The Creator ever gave a human went to Noah in Gen. 6:22. We should all be so inspired. That being said I applaud the author for reminding anyone interested in learning about who Noah was to find out. Reading the Bible is something we could all stand to do more of especially if we are genuinely interested in learning about God's plans for us. (Revelations 21:3,4)

The best part of the book is at the end when revelations are made. Other than that, the plot was a bit slow and the trope used (amnesia) was a bit unnatural but overall a good read

Another terrific entry in the Spotless series!

I have been reading/listening to this series since book 1, Spotless, and I'm so glad that I discovered this series and Camilla Monk! If you are new to the series, you must start with Spotless and read the series sequentially or you will be completely lost. The opening of Butterfly in Amber was quite a surprise because it was darker than any of the previous books. I liked the change in tone but luckily as things unfold, we return to more of the humor and hijinx that we have grown accustomed to in previous books. This was definitely a satisfying conclusion to the ongoing storylines, and I was so glad to see that there is still more to come ("Apache Strike Force" is a very entertaining novella about March meeting Island's father, and then a fifth book is set for release later this year). Amy McFadden is a terrific narrator of this series -- I can't imagine anyone else voicing Island or March. I'm so glad that she's been able to give life to all of these stories, and I hope that she's on board for book 5! If you've been enjoying the Spotless series, I wholeheartedly recommend adding "Butterfly in Amber" to your book collection!

Great story but offensive

I actually really enjoyed this series.

What pisses me off though is that as a Romanian, I feel pretty tired of reading American fiction where random mentions of my country or Romanian people are always negative or demeaning.

Before shitting on an entire country, I feel that authors in general should do better research or just pick another country that you know more info about.

How To Best Love Those People In Your Life

First, Lacey really nailed the subtleties of the South without overplaying her Mississippian heritage. To me, the parts about Mary/Juneula and her family were superb. At times, the writing glowed luminescent but more than this it rolled forward with the power to stop the listener in their tracks. You might find yourself struck dumb by a passage or a short chapter wanting to say...but--but--wait a second--but Lacey is already off at a clip around the next bend. What do you do with writing like this? Throw up your hands and dash to keep up is all I can suggest.

Keep in mind that I usually have a bug-a-boo about character development and consistency. While these characters are often so spare and almost translucent in quality that they don't seem strong enough, solid enough to pack the literary wallop needed, fear not--wallop away masterfully they do. Add these deceptively complex characters to the beautiful narration accomplished by Tusing and you have a powerful mix.

Lacey explores--no let me be more precise--rips apart and shreds to pieces concepts of love, belief, trust, memory, loss and time. Then she looks at the whole mess from the inside out and upside down. To quote the NYT book section--it's down the rabbit hole of love we go. I couldn't agree more. For me, it's been a literary dry spell recently and I, for one was thrilled with the chase. What a book. Prepare yourself for a treat. I loved it.

well crafted : ironic, witty and yet sad. A modern day story about a woman with an unknown illness (IMO social isolation.) The author covers important topics in sparse language. Themes are not heavy handed. Not sure if it's for everyone because of subject matter. This is a moody, fast paced and reflective book.

What other book might you compare The Answers to and why?

2016's "The Nix" by Nathan Hill because of contemporary subject matter.

High Concept, Unlikeable Characters

The concept is interesting, but the characters are both petulant and pretentious. For a book all about relationships, each person is so self-adsorbed... which would be fine if that were the point of the story.

Another Good Installment To The Series

I have listened to Christine Carbo's first two novels, The Wild Inside and Mortal Fall, and loved them so I looked forward to a third with great anticipation. I have not been disappointed. Carbo seems to get better with each book and The Weight of Night is my favorite of the series so far.

Like the previous two books, The Weight of Night takes place in and around Glacier National Park in Montana. It's fire season and the forest fires are raging out of control. Amidst the conflagration, firefighters unearth a shallow grave containing human remains. Monty Harris, a Park Police Officer, and Gretchen Larson, a crime scene investigator, are called in to excavate the remains and discover who they belong to and how they got there. In the midst of all this a boy vacationing in Glacier Park with his family goes missing and Monty and Gretchen have to work fast to find him.

Monty and Gretchen are characters from the previous two books, and in this third one we learn a lot more about Gretchen and her interesting and tragic past.

Carbo is a wonderful writer. Her descriptive prose is just beautiful and gets better with every book. I've seen her compared to C.J.Box and Nevada Barr, but those comparisons are flawed. Yes, she sets her novels in a National Park in the West, but that's where the similarities end. Carbo is a much more talented writer than either of them. Her prose is disciplined and beautiful. Her development of and insights into her characters is more profound and illuminating. While I love her skill at crafting mystery plots and maintaining suspense, I would listen her work even if she didn't write thrillers.

All of the books in this series have been wonderful -- well written and engrossing. This third one is especially fine.

Great Clean Mistery! Worth it to Keep Listening..

At 1st I thought this to be a cheesy mistery. But I continued listening just to see. Her other books are well written & this book is too! Worth my credit & will prolly listen to it again. Clean, no cussing, sexuality & has a tendency to lean toward Christianity.. which I personally always appreciate! Thanks, Patricia Bradley, for another great book! :D

Great story!

I like the storyline. It was good suspense and good drama. Not too much faith woven into

it? But it was a clean story and it was extremely entertaining.

Another great Christian mystery

Patricia Bradley has written another clean mystery that will keep you listening from start to finish without you wanting to put it down...at least it did for me. If you like good a mystery clean without all the sex some authors think is necessary...then this is a book I think you will enjoy. I highly recommend this book to one and all!!!

Justice Delayed

This book was an amazingly suspenseful book that grabbed me from the first page. The narrator did a great job. I listened as I was on a road trip and did not want to stop and get out of the car because I wanted to know what happened next. This is a great story and being from Memphis made it even more enjoyable. The author did a great job with the landmarks of the city and made me appreciate how thorough her research and knowledge of this great city was. I highly recommend this book to all romantic suspense lovers out there.

Good story line

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. The plot is good, although, I feel like the author left a few things hanging that should have been wrapped up before the ending.

What aspect of Joell A. Jacobs performance would you have changed?

Joell does not know how to pronounce her words correctly. It was so irritating, that I stopped listening a few times. For example: Mountain is pronounced "moun'en", forgotten - "forgo'en", tighten - "tigh'en", eaten - "ea'en" etc.

ready for the next one

I really enjoyed both the first and second book. I'm looking forward to the continuation of the series. the narrator Ray Porter is one of my favorites.

Great listen that stretches credulity

The first Nick Mason book was a blast, a wonderful premise, powerful, action-packed story, well-written and well-narrated. What a bold departure from Hamilton's first series character.

But I did wonder how you could push this great idea past one book and keep the reader/listener buying in to the premise and maintaining our connection to the main character. Right from the outset of the first book, Nick is teetering on the edge of an impossible dilemma. We root for him to succeed and break out of the bind he is in. I enjoyed Exit Strategy, it kept me riveted even while the odds mounted. But with each plot twist and bigger obstacle thrown in his path, it grew harder to suspend my disbelief. On one hand, it is the way, as in too many action stories and films, the protagonist bounces back from vicious beatings, shootings and explosions to continue vanquishing foes like an immortal ninja. On the other, it is how the web of evil stretches further and farther from the 'simple' drug gang mastermind to something more pervasive and more mysterious. And harder to buy. The thought rose that Hamilton, a good writer, was taking the 'easy' way out by turning to the fantastic instead of more subtle, artful plot developments. I still like the series and will surely listen to book three - I hope Quintero returns simply so I can enjoy Ray Porter voicing his character - but the fresh edge is gone.

I blame myself

After listening to the first book in the series, I thought I was done with Nick Mason. At least I know I am now - for sure

It's not just the level of absurd scenarios that this guy gets placed into.

I love the jack West series. I'm always checking in when the next one is coming out. but until then I can listen to them again. and again. and again.

Jack West

Waited for this book long before it reached publication. Every Reilly book is a treat devoured too quickly. This one has it all. Mystery, exciting action scenes that are quite original, engaging characters that are familiar friends and some new ones as well. It truly is a race down to the last page.

Read This!!!!

Matthew Reilly never disappoints. If you want a great story that you can follow with action and history.... Then read this book. 4th book in the Jack west series and they keep getting better. Great narrator as well. Top notch

Gripping...

I felt this was a very well-written novel. For some, it may be a story too graphically written. Yet, for others, it will be a gripping mystery that keeps one unable to stop listening. There are no graphic sexual accounts and no foul language...very clean in that respect...but it is a mystery with murder and accounts of how depraved man can become when unforgiveness is given full reign. I dont feel this is a book for those who are deeply disturbed by violence and brutality. If you are inclined to reading a murder mystery and delving into the minds of those who go down a path of revenge and gross misinterpretation of scripture ... I feel you would become engrossed in this book.
