    ...in a manner of speaking,
    This is an odd episode.
    The good:
The story is actually quite (not quiet) enjoyable.
Sound effects are great, as is almost always the case in these T Z Radio Dramas.
    Richard Kind
    The bad:
Gross overuse of the phrase "in a manner of speaking".
The worst caricature of a psychiatrist accent ever. (Und ze great Sigmund Freud rolls over in his grave).

Decent attempt which falls just short of perfect...
No offense to the excellent portrayal of Mr. Henry Beemis by Tim Kazurinsky, but he is not Burgess Meredith. My mind's eye had difficulty picturing a Beemis who didn't look like Meredith. I found myself missing Meredith's vocal style and inflection. Additionally, this is another Zone that suffers slightly from the lack of the final visual. However, like every other offering in this radio series, the production values are excellent. If you can take this adaptation at face value, and appreciate it for what it is, you will certainly enjoy it.
    great stroy!
If you could sum up Time Enough at Last in three words, what would they be?
    surprise, clever, and interesting
Who was your favorite character and why?
mr. beamis because he WAS the story. and a good one too!
Have you listened to any of Stacy Keach and Tim Kazurinsky s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no this is my first preformance. i have only read many audiobooks. it was a good choice.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
yes moments. i was moved to pity for mr. beamis when no one would let him alone. he just wanted to read. not much to ask.
    Any additional comments?
i have seen the episode on tv. it was great and the preformance was great, maybe better because they had to rely on audio only--no video. i think the actors put more into the preformance to get the story across.

    Enjoyable!
Caught in the story before I knew it. Useful length for shorter drives, quick listens. Great narration, believabe characters, fun and quirky storyline! All of this and I'm not a big Dr Who fan. At least I wasn't! I will keep buying this series.
    The Doctor loves Paris.
Another great chapter in the series. I'm glad Tom Baker and Richard Franklin are back for another adventure. Plan to listen to the rest of the series.

Great episode. Summary is for another episode!!!
This episode is a good one. However the publishers summary is for an episode called "A Kind of Stopwatch"! I've notified Audible about the error.
This episode is actually about a rich man getting an elaborate revenge for (in his mind) past misdeeds. A great episode. Not as predictable as one might think.
Great sound effects. Good voice acting. Recommended.

Paul Driscoll uses a time machine with the noble intention to go back in time and alter past events (in such a way as to minimize the loss of human life). After failing to warn a Hiroshima police captain about the atomic bomb, failing to assassinate Adolf Hitler (in August 1939 immediately before the outbreak of World War II in September 1939), and failing to change the course of the Lusitania (to avoid being torpedoed (by a World War I German U-boat), he accepts the hypothesis that the past cannot be changed. He then uses the time machine to journey to the town of Homeville, Indiana, in 1881 (with the intention of escaping and living out a quiet, uncomplicated life). He then realizes that President James A. Garfield will get shot the next day. However, he allows the assassination to happen. After reading in a history book that Homeville's schoolhouse will burn down because of a kerosene lantern thrown from a runaway wagon, he spots the wagon and attempts to prevent this event from occurring. But instead he causes the fire he intended to prevent. He returns to his own time, having learned not to tamper with the past.

    Going to the past
Time travel is the most frequently used idea in fiction writing, but this tale is all about how changing events is not possible. Very good Twilight Zone.
    Don't read the Publisher's Summary!
A good episode with a feeling of uncertainty about the ending, unless you have read the publisher's summary. Those responsible for it should be fired. Way to ruin a listen...

Tom Baker reprises the role of the Fourth Doctor in the first of five thrilling brand-new adventures, with Susan Jameson as Mrs Wibbsey
The Doctors return to Nest Cottage lands him in trouble when a key component from the TARDIS disappears. Mrs Wibbsey is inadvertently responsible, but all she can offer in recompense is a bag containing four curious objects. It seems that each one is a clue, and the beginning of a chase through Time.
In ancient Sussex, they are apprehended by primitive tribesfolk, and mistaken for wizards. Can the revered goddess Wibbsentia get them out of hot water? Who is the fearful wizard in the neighbouring village, and why is the countryside littered with bodies? The Doctor and Mrs Wibbsey are about to discover that all is not right with history.
With Tom Baker as the Doctor, Susan Jameson as Mrs Wibbsey, Nigel Anthony as the Wizard, Rupert Holliday Evans and Kate Sachs as the Warriors, and Richard Franklin as Mike Yates, The Relics of Time is the first of five linked stories written by the acclaimed Paul Magrs.

    Tom Baker: the best Doctor
Where does Doctor Who: Demon Quest 1 - The Relics of Time rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?
Really great, with some excellent voice acting from Tom Baker and Susan Jameson
What was one of the most memorable moments of Doctor Who: Demon Quest 1 - The Relics of Time?
The phenomenal sound effects, from the sound of the TARDIS to atmospheric sounds
Which character as performed by the narrators was your favorite?
The Doctor, as played by Tom Baker
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
    Loved it
    Any additional comments?
More like an audio play than a narrated audiobook, Doctor Who: Demon Quest 1-5 continues the adventures of the Fourth Doctor Who. Before listening to this one, it's best to also listen to Doctor Who: The Hornet's Nest, which is connected
    Costly
You should be aware that this is but one of five episodes. They are good, but short. So you are going to pay $50 or worse 5 credits for about 5 hours of excellent entertainment.
Tom Baker is the best Doctor.
This was a great chapter to a new little mini series. I loved Tom Baker as a child. I always wanted him to come back as the Doctor. Now I can listen to him and his new companion in their new adventures.
    My First Doctor Lives again!
Where does Doctor Who: Demon Quest 1 - The Relics of Time rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?
I am reviewing the entire Demon Quest series, not just part 1. Tom Baker was the first Doctor I watched growing up. He is also my favorite of the doctors 1 thru 8.
This story was like time traveling back to the 70's and watching my Saturday guilty pleasure from the UK. That also, makes me feel old.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would not have have the audio book broken into parts. I would have each story arch as one audio book.
What about the narrators???s performance did you like?
Tom Baker, enough said! However, Nigel Anthony and Susan Jameson added their equally good talent to this story. The three narrators elevate an average story line to make this a must have, for fan's of The fourth Doctor.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, the Tom Baker audible books seem to be broken down to four or five parts.

Peter Davison reads the first gripping adventure for the Fifth Doctor.
Still weak and confused after his fourth regeneration, the Doctor retreats to Castrovalva to recuperate. But Castrovalva is not the haven of peace and tranquillity the Doctor and his companions are seeking. Far from being able to rest quietly, the unsuspecting time-travellers are caught up once again in the evil machinations of the Master. Only an act of supreme self-sacrifice will enable them to escape the maniacal lunacy of the renegade Time Lord.
Peter Davison reads Christopher H. Bidmeads complete and unabridged novelisation, first published by Target Books in 1983.
    Members Reviews:
    A great story...
Castrovalva is certainly NOT a typical Doctor Who story! It contains twists and turns, and there is always a dark figure lurking in the background. Still it is very well written, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. All the mathematical phraseology, evidently meant to confuse, is very well explained. The action comes on in spurts and keeps you interested until the rather bittersweet ending. All in all, this is a great Doctor Who story. The only thing I could say is that the description on audible.com is rather inaccurate.
    Fun but problematic
The ending warps the original epilogue of explaining who drove when. Peter Davison voicing young companions, especially females? Trying to describe Castrovalva itself? Nice try!
