    Incredible Story & Performance
May start a bit slow...but once Venir finds his way back to Bish...The story continues with a few twist and turns to keep the readers on their toes
Venir's world is turned upside down...literally!
Would you consider the audio edition of The Darkslayer to be better than the print version?
Yes and no. I thoroughly enjoy it when I am in transit between home and work each day. And when I am not, I am reading it. But, I very much enjoy listening to the voices because it helps me to remember what each character sounds like when I read the book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Oh man, I really can't answer that!! Each one is my favorite character in its own way. But, out of all of them, I would pick between Fogle Boon and Venir because of how the story-line is written with them, and much much more! Besides, I have already read to the end of the series....so FYI....it gets SOOOO AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Have you listened to any of Lee Alans other performances before? How does this one compare?
    Yes! Just as awesome!!!!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Oh yes, definitely!! Many times I chuckled and laughed! Made listening to it just as much fun!
    Any additional comments?
I can go on and on about this book, but in a nutshell, if you enjoy Lord of The Rings (with a much different twist), Chronicles of Dragon (yep same author...and so good books!!!!), as well as Rise of the Valiant: Kings and Sorcerers, Book 2, then you are in for an real...good...treat!! Hands down awesome author and voice performance by Lee Alan!
    Craig Halloran does it again!
The Dark Slayer series is a personal favorite of mine of Mr. Halloran's work. This book follows the epic adventure of Bish and Venir, while they search for a missing comrade. There are many subplots that add to the fantastic characterization of the main characters and supporting cast. While this book does seem to end rather abruptly, that only adds to my anticipation of the next chapter of these extraordinary heroes and their journey of loyalty and adventure.
On the topic of the narrator, Alan Lee has a lot of personality that both adds and takes away from the story. Mr. Alan goes insofar as to do sound effects for things, which is sort of charming, and yet cartoonist at times.

    A rough start
We start out this story with a brief recap from Suz, reminding us of her place in the Dalek Empire, as supposed host of the Dalek Emperor. From there, we jump forward many years, to when the Daleks have, once more, been forgotten. Rumors of their return have started to spread, and the last survivor of the Dalek Invasion is sought out from the depths of space. Tacked on is the introduction of our new cast, employees of a sort of space nature preserve, who find the protected ecology of their planet of study under threat from a sudden alien invasion.
I'm not sure where this new section of the Dalek Empire series is going, but it really feels like we should have stopped at the second set. A whole new cast has been introduced, and I'm finding it hard to care for them, after so long with the old players.
    Great Opening
This opening in the third Dalek Empire series starts off strong. The story is mostly set up but it's very well-done set up as we're introduced to a cast across the galaxy, each set to play a different part. It establishes a very solid sense of mystery even though we know that ultimately the Daleks are behind what's happening. Having the Daleks lurk in the shadows for most of the episode is a nice change from the grand invasions of the prior sets. The sound design is exquisite and a major step up from prior releases.

Clunky dialogue, directionless storyline, and poor narration... Humorous at times, but in the way a bad sf/Horror movie can be... Suspend your disbelief, set it on fire, bury the ashes, salt the ground, and you'll still have difficulty enjoying...

It's Quincy Harker, need I say more!!!
Being book 7, I'm not going to go into too much depth about the plot because I could inadvertently spoil something from previous books, all I'll say is that the plot is, once again, well written and developed. Despite trying to lie low, trouble finds Quincy in the form of a werewrolf, a demon fighting witch and a plain old demon who is infusing the local football team with extra abilities. Meanwhile, Rebecca is trying to clear Quincy's name with the help of Uncle Luke, Gabby, and a new character who has ties to someone named Watson ;)
Each book we are introduced to both new and old characters, and along with the wit of the books, it's among the reasons why I love this series so much. Each of the characters bring something special to the overall feel of the book and are all extremely well written and developed. Quincy has firmly cemented himself into my favourites and will remain there. He is such an amazing character and I never tire of his snakiness and attitude!
This series is so good and deserves to be more widely known. It has a bit of everything and are guaranteed to entertain you. I urge you to try the first book, but be aware that once you start, it will be impossible to finish!!!
James Foster can't read these books any better. I've said it multiple times that he is Quincy and nails it every time. He is so easy to listen to and has Quincy's snarky attitude down perfectly. Honestly, this is a narrator to try!! He is amazing.
I was voluntarily provided this free copy by the author, narrator, or publisher. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
    Great imagination!
snarkfest, law enforcement, Dracula, demon, witches, magic, murder investigation, urban fantasy
Welcome to the wacko. Quincy Harker's universe is different from some others, but has a lot in common with them. He is Jonathan Harker's descendant and Vlad Dracula's nephew, he is a demon hunter yet has a guardian Angel. And he works with a local detective.

    Weak story
Weak story but enjoyable performance and sound effects. Totally within the style of the 70s show.
    well done Terrance and Louise
louise Jameson is a fantastic narrator and is particularly good in this. I always thought that this story was one of Tom's best, but missed the original transmission. Because of this the book was my first, and for many years my only experience of the story. When I finally got the opportunity to the see it on BSB, I was impressed by the clostrphobic atmosphere and the great performance of the cast. For me it stands with talons, robots, and genesis at the top of the list of the fourth doctors stories.
    Another solid adaptation
Sit back and enjoy another classic Dr Who novel expertly read by Louise Jameson who of course played Leela in the original TV adaptation. Great sound effects really make this a very enjoyable few hours.

But before she can kill him, she has to be sure.

The Hendees are among my favorite authors. I have enjoyed many of their works
The Hendees are among my favorite authors. I have enjoyed many of their works, and this one is no exception. The story has compelling characters, for sure. Although, I do wonder if they could have been capitalized on a bit more. However, if there are ever subsequent novels, I think the fleshing out would come.
Overall, I enjoyed the concept of this story. If I am perfectly honest, I think the execution could have been a bit tighter for their skill level as authors, but, again, I believe this was meant to be an 'introductory' book. So, I'm hoping more will follow so I can get to know these characters and their secrets a bit more.
A great start to a new series set in a familiar world
Though I greatly enjoyed the previous series, the Noble Dead Saga, I was ambivalent over it's conclusion and thus a little hesitant to invest into another series from these authors. But despite that I picked the Dead Seekers and, so far, I have not been disappointed.
The cast is all new but the locales are familiar, and while many other worldbuilding details will be recognized by fans, it's great to see the setting expand upon ghosts, an aspect that was only briefly touched on in the Noble Dead. The Hendees as always do an excellent job of creating a living world, especially with their uncommonly detailed focus on language and how it affects people even within a small region. The writing is as suspenseful as ever, the characters are intriguing and their relationship has a slow but believable progression, and big mysteries are presented with answers I expect will be coming in future installments. Definitely a setup to a larger series, but one that had me gripped all the way to the end. I look forward to more and have my fingers crossed for a satisfying conclusion.
New Novel Set in the World of the Noble Dead
The authors of one of my favorite fantasy series return to the world of The Noble Dead Saga with this first novel in a new series set on the eastern continent where the Saga all began. Mari Kaleja, a young woman from the Romani-like Mondyalitko people witnesses her entire family killed by a flock of ghostly spirits seemingly answering the beck and call of a dark, black silhouette figure in the shape of a young man. From that moment on she is determined to seek this malevolent entity and kill him. Tris Vishal, a young man of noble blood is known as the "Dead's Man" owing to a freak occurrence of his birth that gives him the ability to permanently banish restless souls bent on venting their torment on the innocent living.

    Epic Storytelling
Every time I log on to audible I can't but look up Craig Halloran too see if he's made available any more Darkslayer books. Enough said.. do yourself a favor and use that 1 credit on this book.
    Darkslayer, the Epic Adventure
This book is Mr. Halloran's second book in the Dark Slayer series, and if you are anything like me, you will be very anxious about the arrival of his next audiobook in this series.
This series is a little different from Halloran's other books, being that it is clear that this book is his passion when he writes. The other books are all good, but this one he excels at. It is clear that he has a lot of fun writing the Dark Slayer books.
This book is a little darker than his other work, and I would definitely advise it to a little bit of an older audience, though young adults should be fine.
The narrator still is a little grating, but he does grow on you!
