LISTEN TO THIS BOOK!

After about 1,000 people telling my how great this book is I finally took the time to listen to it and I'm sure you'll be surprised to know that they were all RIGHT!!!

After starting the book I thought no way would I end up liking Grizz, and boy was I wrong! I can't wrap my head around such a violent, cold person being so completely soft when it comes to anyone! I was a little disappointed when the books starts with the ending, I spent the entire book wondering if this was it or that was it cause I knew for a fact it was happening. I really can't say anything that everyone else hasn't already....READ THIS BOOK YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Just another perspective

I just wanted to give a perspective that I did not see in other reviews. I listened to this whole story. It didn't kill me to listen to it - meaning I was not bored or pushing through it to get my money's worth out of it. That being said, I didn't really enjoy the book. It wasn't like I "couldn't put it down" - I could. Easily. It was just something to pass the time when I didn't have anything else to do. It is written well enough. A romance it is not. The female lead is only 15 and the male lead has to be at the very least, 29 years old. It is not romance for an 30 year old man to essentially rape a 15 year old girl. I don't care that she "consented" to it. Even the author refers to it as rape. So there you go. This book was not what I was expecting from the other reviews. Be aware if you buy this book that it is not a lovey dovey romance. It is not a happily ever after type story. I did not even feel like there was a cliffhanger - so to speak. I just felt like every character pretty much was a crazy person and the only people I felt sorry for were the children born into the twisted lifestyle these people were living. Just my two cents...

I've had a book hangover since I've finished.

This book had me from chapter one. It was different and well written. I really appreciated that even though the book had dark subject matter the author didn't go into great detail describing the events. I'm not really a fan of dark romance and I was leery with this book, but I was held captive. I was so intransed that as soon as I finished I bought the ebook for book two and devoured it.

First I don't know if this bothers anyoneelse but HOW IN THE MUCK DO YOU CATCH A DUDE YOUR FALLING FOR GETTING A BJ AND THEN HAVE SEX WITH HIM 40 MIN LATER. I hate when women are written this stupid . It may seem silly that it pisses me off but I'm almost done with the book and this stupid shit happens. I was ready for King to say "Look baby Girl, You and this sweet NaNa is MINE BUT NOOOOOO a monkey tool chest had to be thrown into the story.I had to take a break but up until then I was loving this shit. Im sure by the end I will be back in love but damn make these women stronger with back bones.

Wow! Just WOW!

What an AMAZING story! I absolutely LOVED it! However, I'll admit I've had this audio in my library for months, but put off listening to it due to the reviews. I was afraid it would be too dark, and I don't really like books involving teenager girls. (Only because I'm older, relate better to more mature characters, and have a teenage daughter.)

T.M. Frazier did an outstanding job with the romance, suspense, and characters, but I loved the writing the most, and felt the plot and characters were well developed. Frazier strings you along, and keeps you hanging onto each word with all the suspense, and little twist throughout the story. If I was to ever listen to a story twice, this story would definitely be one of them.

While this story is told from Doe's and King's POV, you get to know and fall in love with the other characters in the story.

Molly Glenmore and Rob Shapiro's performance was OUTSTANDING! They really brought this story to life, and made the audio experience 10X's better!

This was not the darkest MC I've listen too; however, it's filled with language, violence, and graphic sex scenes, but well worth the time, credit or sale. I plowed right through books one and two, and will continue on with the rest of the series. If you like dark MC romances, this is one you do not want to pass up. It is sure to evoke many emotions! I'm definitely recommending this story to my friends!

BE PREPARED... VERY PREPARED AS IT'S AN EPIC RIDE

Firstly, if you'd asked me at the start of this listen what my opinion was then I would have said awful 1 star raw, gritty, toxic, dark and downright violent. But, slowly, as I got caught up in this well described story, I became emotionally invested in the characters, their back-stories, their dilemmas, the dynamics and the non-stop continual hit to my senses and I knew it was going to be a train wreck.... but I just couldn't walk away.

Now I've listened to a lot of Alpha books.... but NOTHING, absolutely nothing, could have prepared me for King who was way... way... waaay past a mere Alpha male and took it to a whole new undefinable level.

An enjoyable read!!!

This had little bit of everything. It was funny, it was sad and it was very steamy. I love this book. Amo and Vincent are freakin hilarious!!!!

A tad juvenile for my taste.

The story line was good but the story being based on high school teenagers, I just couldn't relate. Almost made me feel like a pedophile listening to under age teens you know what. Lol... However, fair is fair and I'll give the book an honest review. I think the story line was good and it was well written. The narrator made the girls sound either whiny and bi*chy or whiny and weak, though. Otherwise, he was fine. It would have been better if it were at least in a college setting rather than high school. Also, we never really find out why Elle was bullied so badly (or at least the bits that were revealed don't seem merit the kind of torture she suffered) and why she defended Chloe the way she does which kind of leaves us hanging.

Anyway, I don't think I'll move on to the next book, not because it was bad, just because it's not my cup of tea.

Predictable, juvenile, unrealistic.

This story had possibility, but seemed to be unnaturally pieced together from other mob stories. And the main characters were in high school! It's hard to imagine a bad ass mobster

who hasn't graduated yet. Lol. Won't be getting the next one. :(

two words...Amazing and hott!

I absolutely loved Nero. He was sexy, attractive, and so protective it made the story a breeze to fly through. I couldn't put it down.

Freaking weird and unbelievable

I really really hope that no prep schools in the World Works the Way the One in this book does - too much violence and u would Think that a prep School were u actually pay a lot for a better School would take action for broken bones and slashes in the face. And the fact that the female MC does not know the name of the biggest crimefamily in the City - or at least tries to find out when she wittness a murder - just make her look comepletely braindead - because it is of cause also neros last name - And she is supposed to be clever. And she is also portraied as strong but is still bending to nero every demand (and he is a dominant and a bully) which makes her even more stupid and unbelievable. And nero is absolutely not likable and it is not because i dont like dominant MC - which i normally do - but he does not Seem to have many braincells either. I have no idea how this book have Got so many good reviews. I know that they are teenagers and it May explain some of the lack of brainactivity that does not involve sex or violence, but at the same time they are very self-sufficient and live their lives comepletely without parental supervision. So not believable and i Didnt finish.

The narrator is just absolutely pathetic. I don't get all the rave reviews because I could not concentrate on the story being told because the narrators voice was overly dramatic. It was like listening to bad acting. I thought her "male" voice was absolutely laughable and ridiculous. It was like when the wife tries to impersonate her husband over the phone because she's not an authorized person on the account. You would never believe it. This narrator steals so much from this story that I can't believe they went with her. I mean her voice is like a wet blanket. It is a horrible monotone that makes my ears bleed. I didn't finish this book. I just couldn't listen to it.

Usually like Jackson

This was so contrived and predictable. Lisa Jackson's books aren't literary genius, but they're usually captivating and don't require total suspension of disbelief. This one was phoned in.

Great story

First of all I'd like to respond to an earlier review that claimed this was a romance novel without any real story. I just want to say Lisa Jackson once again has written a great book, Natalie Ross did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. If you've read the rest of this series you won't be disappointed.

Delicious Fun & Satisfying Girl Power Moments!

There were quite a few points in the first half of the book that I was really cheering Marley on and enjoyed quite a bit of satisfaction at Jake's shock at Marley's sheer competance in the field. I enjoyed that Naughton had a bit of fun at Jake's expense--a former Navy SEAL who's squeamish in the jungle, and whose own survival skills are more akin to an office mgr than a former operative ;) Oh, don't get me wrong; you never the get the feeling he's any less a hot He-Man (or "alpha" if you prefer). Its just that more often than not, old stereotypes prevail in this type of novel and its nice that Naughton had some fun and gave us some satisfying surprises. Such as when, early in the book, Marley does the Walk, announcing to Jake She's Done. She doesn't get all drama on him. She just does the walk and how often do we wish we could be as poised in our resignation or disgust with a pompous thoughtless boss?

It turns out that despite Jake's relegating Marley to office/operational support, she's quite expert in the field and doesn't make any fanfare about establishing a base camp, catching and prepping dinner with MaGyver-like aptitude in the jungle. Meanwhile our hero shows up with a palm frond after being gone for hours. His mouth agape response at sleeping and food accomodations by Ms Daniel Boone was hilarious.

The story is a another fun, seat of your pants adventure, but it really relies on too many autorial conveniences, making turns in action kind of predictable, which is why I've only offered 4 stars for overall and for the story. The chemistry and the banter between the two is top notch and very enjoyable. Very often during the middle of the book I would stop what I was doing to really concentrate on listening to the dialogue. For that reason, I'm not going to forget this book in the next couple weeks.

But I object that our saavy, sharp Marley is painted as blind to the machinations of rescued ex boyfriend. And that maybe she is purposely being blind, maybe even being so out of spite to Jake's hostility.

Narrated by Kate Rudd, Night Shield is a short one, under six hours of listening. There is a series of about 4-5 Nora Roberts books, Night Tales. This is one. Everybody in the Roberts books is drop-dead-gorgeous, so no change there. This time the lead, Ally Fletcher, is the daughter of the two lead characters of the first book, Night Shift, and some of the plot carries forward. Should tell you to read the books in sequence to get the most pleasure.

Typical of Roberts, mawkish romance interspersed with a great mystery. Not deep, not intended to be. Simply curl-up-on-the-sofa-with-some-hot-chocolate, your cat, and enjoy!

Quick listen, Shadows of Eve and Roarke

Sounds so much like Eve and Roarke except each of them is more solid in the family department and less isolated. Fun, I like it.

A delightful tale I have read several times and now have the pleasure of listening to. The characters are strong and determined. The cop and the guy from the wrong side of the tracks. Yes, he turned his life from crime to good, he still feels not good enough. Now someone is using his nightclub to rob people. Not on his watch.

Night Tales by Nora Roberts

The Night Tales by Nora Roberts has always been a favorite of mine, to finally have it in audio is even better. Kate Rudd has done an excellent job with the characters. I've just finished Night Shift, Night Shadow, and this Nightshade. I am looking forward to starting on Night Smoke tomorrow and the final tale soon after. Good read, good listen, good purchase!

Nora Roberts fan

Really liked the entire series. Great stories. Just wish they had found a better narrator. Ms Rudd makes the heroines sound like teenagers with a very clipped attitude. Hard to listen to her. Will definetly stay away from anything read by her in the future.

If youve listened to books by Nora Roberts before, how does this one compare?

I began reading Nora Roberts books when Witness came out. I loved the book and couldn't wait for the next one. Since then I've been trying to read all of her books. Her older books always piss me off like this one. The men are sooo sexist! What is with this whole I'm so amazing that you're going to sleep with me crap? If a fire inspector ever acted the way Rye did towards a woman and victim he'd be fired. Needless to say her female characters have gotten stronger and capable of taking care of themselves without going into shock when fire appears. This was an ok book with the typical happily ever after ending but the first half of this book had me wanting to return it. It got more interesting but it took a while.

Another excellent addition to an excellent series. Kate Rudd did a terrific job portraying the different characters and bring them to life.

As with all the stories in this series this one can stand on it's own but is enhanced when read in series.

Note: I have had the opportunity to read a number of series. I have never come across another that is as varied yet connected as this one. Kudos Ms. Roberts.

Hard to get through

I am a Nora Roberts fan but this book was just hard to get through.

Kate Rudd always sounded like she was about to jump off a cliff. Even in the romantic scenes there was no change in her tone or emotion.

I didn't want this series to end!

I have LOVED this series and have waited for this last part. It wasn't as action packed as the last ones but I enjoyed it all the same. I've thoroughly enjoyed Romy Nordlinger's narration all the way through. I love her voice and her characterizations and emotions are always 100 percent.

Hard not to gush about this book without spoilers so I wont say much. It just really delivers an amazing dimension to Tony and Claires love. Danger, real tension mixed in with sensuality and a feeling of hope. Couldnt put it down. Love this narrator, she always gives more than most. Shes a big part of the whole experience.
