This is the story of David, Kenzie and Cav

The time is set in WWII , week of D-Day and the present.

Kenzie's adventure draws you in right from the start. The experiences and her destiny take you on a very fun, sad, scary, and romantic ride.

I simply loved the Emerald Brooch by Katherine Lowry Logan and it is my favorite in the series so far! As I said with the first book in the Celtic Brooch series, when I listen to these books, I can't help put feel totally immersed like I did the first time I read the Outlander series by Dianna Gabaldon in the early 1990's.

The story begins with West Point graduate and Army hero Kenzie Wallis-Mannging who retires from the Army after suffering substantial wounds and PTSD during her second deployment. While studying in England, she receives a package from Scotland with an Emerald Brooch. As she reads the inscription on the inside of it, she is whisked back to WWII London - a mere week before D-day. This particular book also has a twist in it that is not found in other time travel books. I can't say more or I'd be revealing a spoiler! Let me just say that Kenzie meets her soul-mate back in 1944 and both come back to present day. Both characters are portrayed realistically with flaws, fears, and hope. I especially enjoyed how the story comes full circle at the end and I felt that all loose ends were resolved to great satisfaction.

Teri Schnaubelt narrated this audiobook as she did with the prior three stories in the series. Her narration is simply fantastic. She really brings the characters to life, using a variety of accents and giving each character their own distinct voice. Her reading is nicely paced throughout and she kept me enthralled listening late into the night.

Can't get enough!

I don't normally listen to "serial" type releases, but i gave in and decided to try this one since it sounded so good. After listening to book 1 I had to continue and see what happens. Part two of this story was a lot Hotter and had a lot more character development. The story line is really good, keeping you anxious to know what is next.

The narration is really good too, glad they stuck with the same ones throughout the series.

Long night.

It's going to be a long night. I need to get to the next installment.

There is no way that I can wait to see what's going to happen here!' And Lili Valente is off somewhere, rubbing her hands together and smiling, just waiting to give us all what we're dying for. So, as if there's any question, Deep Domination gets 5+ 'I am sweating over here, I hate Jackson, no, I LOVE Jackson, good LORD, woman, just finish this!' stars. I need Book 3, like, yesterday. Listen to this book, listen to this series; just do it!

Five hot cliffhanging stars.

This serial just keeps getting better. Onto book 3 of Jackson and Hannah's story. I can't wait to see how it all plays out.

sure, I have enjoyed many books by Mary Burton and was looking forward to Vulnerable. I can't give an honest review of the story because I couldn't get past the narration. I didn't finish the book.

Disappointing..

I have a great appreciation for the hard work and dedication that go into writing a book as well as performing it but this series left me extremely disappointed. Carrying the same characters through each book but having a different, progressively less pleasing, narrator really made me lose taste for the characters by the end. I finished each book because I enjoyed the plot/story but that's it.

This book left me wanting to return it very early on. Karen White did these characters justice in Cover your Eyes. I wish they had stayed with her throughout the series.

Rainy day

This was a good book for a rainy day. I was disappointed in how the author made the lead female character make the connection in the end based on her own experience. Talk about a leap!!!

I must warn that the narrator wasn't bad just better reading something else. There ain't any emotions in the characters so even when they were sad they didn't sound that way. Also there wasn't any accents even though they were from the south. Like I said Rachel Harris isn't a bad narrator just better in a different type of book like a biography. Lastly, I have questions. I wish they were answered instead of making us attend the adoption that they could have said was in the works. It only took 3 months, really?What happened to Ambers mom? Who gets the money?

Do not buy its a waist.

Every reason to never marry

Arrogant, controlling, self satisfied husband and amazing, competent, doing-everything and never getting any respect for it wife. Who apologizes constantly and buries all her feelings.

I wanted him to die. I hate this man.

I was ANGRY!

This book left me with a Hulk-like green tinge when I arrived at work each day. It would take me at least five minutes each morning to recover from listening to Happily Ever Ninja.

Deep breaths, constant reminders that it's "just a book" and steering clear of people helped me calm down. I have never read or listened to a book that constantly had me angry.

I was angry that women have to go through childbirth. I was angry that men sometimes don't see what is right in front of their noses. I was angry that people think they know what's best and they're not always right. I was angry that sometimes wives have to fib a little to husbands to keep the peace. I was angry that pregnancy feels like you're dying. I was angry that the hero made me laugh when I wanted to join the heroine and put him in a chokehold. I was angry that the heroine didn't scream, shout, rant and rave when she should have. I was angry that love makes you forgive too easily.

I was angry because I recognised it all.

I was angry because I could relate to it all.

I was angry because we do it for love, peace and happiness.

In the end, the things that made me angry in the story made me love it more. I'm not alone. Penny Reid again proved to me that she's a master of real women romance. I bow down in gratitude and thanks, Ms Reid, I don't feel angry and alone anymore.

my all time favorite Penny Reid book!

I loved everything about this book. I loved that it was about a long-term relationship after the "and they lived happily ever after...". I loved the humor, suspense, and especially the quotes from her readers starting off each chapter. I'm sure I will be quoting one of my favorite "Greg-isms",' better they learn about it at home than on the streets' when referring to things like welding.

Definitely. I spend a lot of time on the road, so I listen to a lot of audio books. J. L. Drake is one of my top five favorite authors.

The underlying love story. Always the love story.

Better narration. Tia Sorenson is too monotone.

No. Because of time constraints, too many of the necessary parts of the story would need to be excluded.

Very Enjoyable

Great dialogue. Hilarious being in the thoughts of the characters, in this case, Ian Taggart. Ryan West's reading was delightful and timing wonderful.

Lexi Blake has created the perfect series. You can feel the connection and comradely between all the characters. It's like you're in the room with them. They're all Dom's and Submissive's and their also x-military and x-CIA. Now they all work at a security company which also does side jobs for the CIA.

Yes...this book has detailed BDSM, action, mystery, suspense and fun. If you like this type of book you'll love this series. I have every book in the series and have listen to them several times.

The Story is Great but the Narrator is Killing Me

What did you love best about Cold Justice Series Box Set, Volume I: Books 1-3?

The story is great. The narrator kinda kills the story. When he reads normally he is great but the tone he uses for the females is horrible and made me not want to finish listening to it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Mallory, she is like your everyday person.

How could the performance have been better?

Not let the Narrator change his voice for the charters. If you want different voices for the characters then get different people. The voice that he uses for the females voices is horrible!

Just a fantastic series!!

I originally read book 5 as an ARC and was hooked. I was hungry for a nice new suspenseful, mystery romance thriller. And, Toni Anderson and Eric G. Dove delivered. I immediately got book 1 so I could start back at the beginning. And, after reading that one, the boxed set came out!

Each book takes you for a ride. I love the characters, the plots, the twists, the tension. It's just fun. And, it sucks you in right away. The only possible draw back is in two of the stories the heroine's tend to want to throw themselves into danger, with no regard for their safety or clear plan do anything productive, and that will only get them killed and not help anyone.
