    Title: The Death of Death
    Author: K. N. Parker
    Narrator: Deborah Young
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 1 hr and 3 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 01-11-16
    Publisher: K. N. Parker
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 10 votes
    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
Death guides usually have rather normal names like John, Mary, Harry, and Jessica. And even ones not quite so normal, like Bartholomew or Ambrosia. They also have the most interesting tales behind their deaths. But one particular death guide has a few problems: she cannot remember her name or the details of her demise, and thus has no story of her own. One fateful night, she meets a young girl that may change her death forever.
Inspired by the works of Tim Burton and Neil Gaiman, and in the style of children's tales of old, The Death of Death is a tragic, yet sweet little tale about loss and acceptance.
Suitable for ages 12 and up.

    Loved the story very much!
I must say it was most enjoyable to listen to all the many details. Descriptions that gave me the feeling of being right in the middle of the whole story with Death.
    Sad little story
I didn't fall in love with this short book. I laughed a few times but it wasn't truly funny.

    Genres: Teens, Ages 11-13
    Publisher's Summary:
One of IndieReader's BEST BOOKS of 2014!
The entire Socket Greeny trilogy (Discovery, Training, and Legend) follows a white-haired teenager that discovers he's part of an evolved human race, how he trains to understand his true self, and the legendary conclusion of his true nature.
    DISCOVERY
Work has always come first for Socket Greeny's mother, ever since his father died. But when she shows him the inner workings of the Paladin Nation, he discovers why.
Paladins traverse the planet through wormholes to keep the world safe, but from what, they won't say. Although his parents were not actually one of them, Socket is different. He soon finds himself in the center of controversy and betrayal when he's anointed the Paladin Nation's prodigy. He didn't ask for the "blessing" of psychic powers and the ability to timeslice, and he doesn't want to be responsible for the world. He just wants to go home and back to school and be normal again.
But, sometimes, life doesn't give us that privilege, his mother tells him.
And when the world is soon threatened and the Paladins are forced into the public eye, Socket discovers what his mother means. If he doesn't embrace his true nature, life as we know it will change forever.
    TRAINING
A year has passed since the Paladin Nation was exposed to the public. Their mission is still to protect humanity from whatever may threaten them. Previously, it was the human duplications, but now that they've been extinguished their biggest challenge is dealing with the complications of public image. Socket Greeny, now 17 years old, has been a Paladin cadet for the past year and is nearing the final test. But that's the least of his problems. He's trying to live two lives: one as a superhero while hanging onto his normal life.
While fearlessly dealing with his masochistic trainer, he's trying to salvage his deteriorating relationship with his girlfriend back home.

    An exceptional sci-fi/tech trilogy
This was one of the best sci-fi/tech audiobooks I've heard lately, and frankly I can't believe it's still relatively undiscovered. The Socket Greeny trilogy is no slow starter. It hits the ground running from page one and never lets up. Socket Greeny is a disaffected, tech-savvy 16-year-old outsider, who, along with his friends Streeter and Shoot, frequently ventures into an internet virtual mode. Accessible via a small wearable transmitting device, anyone with the right gear and skill can enter a moldable world of virtual reality, which Socket and his friends often do while in school (because their high school has the most powerful gateway in the area). But on one particular day when the trio enters virtual mode, something strange happens, and their lives become forever changed.
I was genuinely impressed by author Tony Bertauski's writing skill (spectacular balancing of story elements), his imagination (Spindle, the preserve, the grimmits), and foremost his ability to describe with astounding, well-proportioned detail the environments, events, and emotions experienced by the characters. This trilogy could easily become a movie or TV show, and I fervently hope that soon it will become one!
In some cases, I've found that when an author narrates their own material, it can sometimes be at a disservice to the story or performance, but this is certainly NOT the case here.

    Wish it was longer
I didn't realize what a short book it was when I got it. I liked the book, but far too short for me. Also I was having trouble with the audio randomly going from normal volume to very quiet, and back. Not sure if it was the fault of the recording or my iPhone though... But other than those two things I enjoyed it!
    Elite New World!
A disturbing peek into a possible future.
A nuclear war has devastated the planet and billions of people and animals are dead. The remaining people are hungry and the land is barren. Shacks are heated by fireplace and cooled by open windows/doors. Before the war is known as the Old World. This is the New World; a time of suspicion, neighbors spying on each other to survive and little joy. It's ruled by the Elite and their Laws, with no court and no individual rights. The main Laws decree: "Don't Repeat Mistakes of the Old World, Don't Seek Love...And Above All Else, Don't Believe!!' There is no place for God!! Penalties for breaking these laws are severe.
Sinna and Jacob, teens born into this world, know nothing of the Old World except that retold by their elders.
The story revolves around the Laws, how they affect Sinna, Jacob and his sister, Sammy.
Ms. Stone has created a New World of believable characters, dialog, background information and plot. The ending may be unexpected. An impressive read from a new dystopian/sci-fi author. The first of a series that is a cliffhanger, which I don't usually appreciate, but this time I'm looking forward to the next book!

    Young Adventure Story
If you could sum up Voyage of the Defiance in three words, what would they be?
    Strong, dedicated & brave.
What did you like best about this story?
The fact I could visualize this young gal and guy doing what they did.
Have you listened to any of Suzanne Elise Freemans other performances before? How does this one compare?
No this I believe was a first.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Oh there were times I cried, ah okay there was many times I cried. But I laughed also.
    Any additional comments?
I usually like more adult themed books, but this was a very nice change for me. SE Smith did a great job.

not her best but very good
This book is amazing. But i felt something missing from it. Towards the middle it got a little boring but overall it had a strong message and i have no regrets of buying it. Not Hinton's best but she is still my top author.

Powerful read about the coming of age of a young boy...good life lessons
I just finished rereading this book that my son has to read for school - and I was amazed, as I was the first time, how powerful the message is in this story. I thought it was a great story of the coming of age of a young boy who learns so many great life lessons. He learns about the depravity of man in a very powerful and personal way - and that we are all just teetering on the edge of destruction - and we don't need much of a push from this fallen world to send us over that edge. He learns that misery truly does love company - instead of rising up, it really is much easier to tear everyone else down to your level. He learns that integrity is hard to keep in a world seeking to destroy anything whole and good. And he learns about the power of forgiveness. Great story for all ages - don't let this book be relegated solely to the younger readers!
Great Introduction to the concept of racial or religious hatred in the world.
This book chronicles the issues associated with loss, evil and hatred in the world. Consequently it is an excellent primer to prepare students for the study of the holocaust. Without being violent it prepares students to evaluate good and evil and make good choices. I believe that Cormier weaves the narrative in such a way as to make it interesting yet poignant. This was my third read of this book and I find more layers each time I read it.
    Wonderful read
One of my favorite authors! This book didn't let me down AT ALL! Quick read, no more than an hour! Love the dicotomy of personality types.
    It's a good book!
This is one of my favorite books. Robert Cormier is a great author. His books usually give some insight into human nature and each person's propensity towards evil. His characters (including those in Tunes for Bears to Dance to) are so real, you may think you're reading a story about your neighbor, your uncle, or yourself.
    Beautiful
This book was a fascinating story. It had a deep story line and the main character, Henry, was at possibly the worst time of his life. But it's interesting to see how he manages.

    There isn't any big event.
This book didn't have any certain event from the beginning to the end. I felt it was really boring because everything doesn't seem to make sense and mystery. I'm not sure I even understood all the story but personally it wasn't that good.
    My favorite book

two thumbs up for the great story and suspension.

Devon Tennyson wouldn't change a thing. She's happy watching Friday night games from the bleachers, silently crushing on best friend Cas, and blissfully ignoring the future after high school. But the universe has other plans. It delivers Devon's cousin Foster, an unrepentant social outlier with a surprising talent for football, and the obnoxiously superior and maddeningly attractive star running back, Ezra, right where she doesn't want them - first into her P.E. class and then into every other aspect of her life.
    Critic Reviews:
"First & Then is like first love: profound and stirring, surprising and funny, and utterly delightful." (T. Michael Martin, author of The End Games)
    Members Reviews:
Lacking in development, narrator not enjoyable to listen to
Audio version was very hard to follow. Authors voice did not translate well. Conversations were also very hard to follow because you couldn't tell who was speaking. Characters were underdeveloped. Foster's character and storyline was very enjoyable to follow however his relationship with and the character of Maribel should've been explored more. Devon and Ezra's "relationship" left me like, "Huh?" Because they had the tiniest bit of direct (and minimal) interaction before they were suddenly in love with each other. Her college essay was a huge part of the beginning and then disappeared. And to call this anything meets Friday Night Lights is a disservice to Friday Night Lights. I wouldn't recommend this book but it was somewhat decent. Foster's journey earned the stars.
    Realistic, adorkable and heart warming
This was a beautiful story of the final year of high school. There was family love, friend love and romantic love. The main character was relatably akward while retaining her own personality. The author also did some amazing narration for the audiobook. I can't wait for more from this author.
    Great story!
The story was great, it was funny and moving at the same time. The author performance as the narrator was perfect! Can't wait to tell all my friends about it!

    Publisher's Summary:
As ancient immortals are left reeling, a modern Athena and Hermes search the world for answers in Ungodly, the final Goddess War novel by the acclaimed author of Anna Dressed in Blood.
For the Goddess of Wisdom, what Athena didn't know could fill a book. That's what Ares said. So she was wrong about some things. So the assault on Olympus left them beaten and scattered and possibly dead. So they have to fight the Fates themselves, who, it turns out, are the source of the gods' illness. And sure, Athena is stuck in the underworld, holding the body of the only hero she has ever loved. But Hermes is still topside, trying to power up Andie and Henry before he runs out of time and dies, or the Fates arrive to eat their faces.
And Cassandra is up there somewhere, too. On a quest for death. With the god of death. Just because things haven't gone exactly according to plan, it doesn't mean they've lost. They've only mostly lost. And there's a big difference.

    strong storyline, horrible ending
this 2 book series has been quiet enjoyable and does an excellent job of transforming Greek mythology in a unique way. from the start you find yourself asking how would I act if I outlived my very purpose. what if God's were no longer Godly..... my main caveat with the story is it ended too abruptly without resolution of so many different things. did Henry ever turn, is there a new God of death, why did the deaths that occurred change fate? the author essentially tells u. "this is what happened in the fight" ok the end. no explanation for why.
