Publisher's Summary:

Six months ago, Peter Rutherford ended a war which had lasted 20,000 years. Having done that, it seems that anything else would be mundane by comparison - even having inherited the innocent subjects of a world of torment and horror.

Mundanity is what he craves, but he hasn't counted on the presence of beings who might hold him accountable for his actions: the first Law of Magic governs actions so massive that transgressions are impossible to hide.

Fun read, brain candy.

A fun read, very much brain candy. My issues with the book, while significant, are eased with how compelling the story is. I went into the book thinking it was a teen fantasy YA novel. The characters were perfect examples of (sometimes) insecure and dramatic gay men and their tragic straight girl best friend and I could hear and relate their voices to either myself or others I know. That being said, I sort of lost my footing when I realized these were not teenagers but adults in their early to mid twenties. This however works for the story. These adults that you would expect to have their act together are hopelessly victim to rampant emotions and internal drama. Coupled with the onset of magic entering their world, their reactions to situations are valid, even if you as the reader want to shout at the characters. They do grow tremendously from start to finish, just perhaps not in a typical teen drama expectation. The side and minor characters are wonderful, each with their own distinct voice and personality. With just the right amount of camp, all of the characters - and certainly including the animals - are in my opinion the best strength of this story.

The story line takes a few dramatic turns and seems to vault from situation to situation, but this keeps the narrative swift.

The pagan jargon might be difficult to follow if you are not familiar with contemporary pagan rituals, but I think those familiar with wiccan/pagan spirituality could have been an intended audience. This is only a minor point as the story moves on strongly enough to cover any lost ground on technical language.

The ending raised my eyebrows a bit, which only compels me to want to read the next book. The first half of the book is mostly character drama, where as the second half is very magically driven activity with intense character conflict. The action scenes typically unfold in terms of casting spells and directing energy, but it is certainly still entertaining. I literally flinched when I read about a character ripping out someones root chakra (totally had to cross my legs for that scene).

Im not typically a fan of YA novels. I have a few reservations about calling this book one as I enjoyed it much more than I would reading Twilight or some other teen fantasy. I recommend this to anybody with an inclination to fantasy and a functioning understanding of gay culture/identity, but neither is necessary to enjoy the great story.

A pair of family-safe same-sex tales - where the Lady gets the Princess.

"Rose and Lily": Rose is the youngest of Sir Roland's three children, and the best beloved. When her father fails to come back from an attempt to rescue the princess from a neighboring kingdom from the notorious and mysterious Black Knight, Rose does not hesitate to strap on her father's old armor, the red faded almost to invisibility, and ride into the dark forest to help him. There she herself encounters the Black Knight. Once she has defeated him, she learns his terrible secret, as well as her father's awful fate. It is left to Rose, then, to rescue Princess Lily from the highest tower of the knight's castle. When she arrives there, she is stunned to find the most beautiful creature that she has ever beheld, cursed to sleep until love's true kiss can wake her.

Entrancing from start to finish!

Where does Hollow Man rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

As my first audiobook, my experience was surprisingly enjoyable. The clarity of events and characters narrated by Richard brought life to my mind's eye.

What did you like best about this story?

This Hollow Man audiobook is filled with an extraordinarily vivid description of the world of Calasia and the characters that frequent this world. From the very beginning the story is full of action and intrigue and I look forward to hearing the next book!

Have you listened to any of Richard R. Morrisons other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first listen but I can say that Richards voice and words are entrancing from start to finish.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As short as it was, it was exciting and it created feelings of impending calamity, as well as defensiveness and unity. I was absorbed and now I am in need of an adventure.

Wonderful Story & Fantastic Narration!!!

Dragon Moon is one of the best YA novels I have read. It has action, suspense, romance, comedy all rolled into one beautifully written package. The main character Scarlett is funny and snarky yet caring and lovable. This book grabs you from page one and does not let you go. I became completely invested in the story and the people and although the story is complete there is room for a sequel and I would love to see that happen. The Audiobook is beautifully narrated by the lovely voice of Amanda Friday. I could listen to her read all day. I am very picky when it comes to Audiobooks - most are to slow or monotone for me to enjoy, I find my mind drifting, but not with Amanda Friday reading Dragon Moon. I savored every moment and listened intently not wanting to miss a single moment.
