    Publisher's Summary:
Fading into the background isnt the Sisterhood way. Even after all the adventures theyve shared, the courageous, close-knit heroines of Fern Michaels' New York Times best-selling series are always ready to embrace another challengeAll good things must come to an end. But Myra Rutledge isnt ready to put the Sisterhood - the stalwart band of friends whove become legendary for meting out their own brand of justice - behind her just yet. Though she loves her beautiful home and her husband, Charles, Myra cant deny that shes restless. And as it turns out, shes not the only one longing to dust off her gold shield and get back in action.
When Maggie Spritzer, former editor-in-chief of the Post and an honorary member of the Sisterhood, arrives with a new mission in mind, Myra welcomes her in. Maggies newshound instincts havent dulled since she left the Post, and she suspects that two Maryland judges - identical twins Eunice and Celeste Ciprani - are running a moneymaking racket that sends young offenders to brutal boot camps, often on trumped-up charges. Soon the Vigilantes are gathering in their war room once more, catching up on the momentous events in each others lives even as they plan their campaign. The Ciprani twins are powerful and ruthless, and taking them down wont be easy. But with the aid of formidable allies - including former President Martine Connor - Myra, Annie, Maggie, and the gang concoct a scheme that will bring justice to the innocent - and leave the guilty blindsided.

    Sisterhood
I've read all the Sisterhood series books, and was worried that it was over. Then she came out with the first book of just Myra and Annie. It was good, and I looked forward to this one. I enjoyed it too, and the inclusion of the boys just added to it.
    GREAT ADDITION
This is just one of the 22 Sisterhood Series books. I have 20 in book format and have ordered the last two on my kindle. I love this series. Any women that have been scorned by a man, these are your type of books to read. Start with Weekend Warriors and I guarantee you will not want to put it down. This book will make you yearn for more and with that ladies you will order all 22 books and the 23rd coming out sometime in June 2014. The Godmothers series is another one that will keep you asking for more. I have read 62 books by Fern Michaels, singles and series and have much praise for her abilities as a writer. Go to her website and it will give you a list of all her books and each series. I have given 36 book reviews and all were Fern Michaels books. The Texas/Vegas/Kentucky series are great. I have no doubt that once you read just one of her books, you will be as hooked as I am. Happy reading!
Do not mess with the Sisterhood.
A very enjoyable book about a set of twin judges that are corrupt. How they go about bringing them to justice.
    Still dumber, with errors
This one was dumber yet, with errors. One error was a location, another is a misspelled name of a character who has been in all the books. In a previous book the same error was made and corrected part way through. This time, it was not corrected. Ms Michaels needs to reread her books before she writes the next so she can keep her facts (and I use the word loosely) straight.

    This Series Has Potential
This was an enjoyable cozy mystery. The characters were likable, realistic and intelligent. The plot was paced nicely and there were enough twist and turns to keep you guessing. I hope Audible gets the rest of this series.
A GREAT COZY MYSTERY, TO MY SURPRISE.
I TOOK A CHANCE ON THIS ONE, AS I LIKE THE PROTAGONIST AND THE NARRATOR. I WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED, AS AUDIBLE, HAD PICKED IT OUT FOR ME AS A POSSIBLE "BOOK TO MY ECLECTIC TASTE, THEY WERE RIGHT ON. WELL WORTH THE CREDIT, BAITING BREATH FOR MORE, OR AUDIBLE YOU MAKE THEM..YOU HAVE A HIT ON YOUR HANDS. I CANNOT READ SO PLEASE TAKE A CHANCE ON THIS GREAT AUTHOR. LAUDS TO AUDIBLE. I KNOW OTHER LADIES WILL LOVE THIS SERIES AS WELL. MONEY, AND YOU HAVE A LADY DYING FOR MORE. THANK YOU, FAMILY.
Too bad this is the only one available on audible.
Charming and well written, Town in a Blueberry Jam makes me want more Candy Holiday!
    Disappointing
I was in the mood for a relaxing "cozy." Based on the publishers comments this book sounded like a good bet. I listened to the entire book, but was never drawn in to the location, the story or the characters.
Candy Holliday is a first time amateur sleuth. When a family friend is accused of murder, Candy decides to find the "real killer". Amateur sleuths are fine with me, but not when they risk their own lives and the lives of friends. Candy believes she has to do this because law enforcement in her small town is totally inept - another thing that irritates me in mysteries.
None of the characters seemed very well defined or unique. The pace was a little slow for my taste; some scenes went on longer than they needed to without adding anything to the story.
Narrator Tavia Gilbert often has a breathy quality to her voice that sounded melodramatic in some scenes. I found the voice she used for Candy's best friend Maggie to be distinctive, but irritating.
I wish I had liked this book better.

    Title: Goldenboy
    Author: Michael Nava
    Narrator: Gregory St. John
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 6 hrs and 51 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 11-05-13
    Publisher: Audible Studios
Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 23 votes
Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
In his latest case, Henry Rios may have something few defense attorneys ever experience: A truly innocent client.
Its a cause Henry Rios cant resist: Defending a young gay man on trial for killing the coworker who threatened to out him. Jim Pears is charged with first-degree murder; Pears says hes innocent but the evidence is damning. Pears was found covered in the victims blood and with the murder weapon in his hand. But nothing about the People v. Jim Pears is what it seems.
Rios is asked to join the case because he knows first-hand the pressures and threats that come with being gay in California in the 1980s. In the midst of one of the most complex trials of his career, Rios meets and falls in love with Josh Mandel, the prosecutors star witness. For this defense attorney, fighting for justice has never been more personal. And the stakes are no less than life and death.
Goldenboy is the second book in the Henry Rios mystery series, which also includes The Little Death and Howtown.
    Members Reviews:
A remarkable mystery series, with a historical perspective and skilled, gripping storytelling.
Itâs hard to know what to say about Michael Navaâs Henry Rios mysteries. Theyâre wonderful; terse, wry, smart, a little dark. Rather sad. Not romantic. On the other hand, in these stories love matters; and in this particular book, matters a lot, both in a sad way and in a happy way. Love thwarted; love denied; love endangered; love fulfilled.
Henry is a self-made Chicano boy from the Central Valley, a lawyer and an outspoken advocate for the disenfranchised (which, in the late 1980s setting of these books, includes gay folks). He is fearless, but not heartless, although his own emotionally parched childhood has left him more detached emotionally than he might otherwise have been.
A longtime lawyer friend from Los Angeles convinces Henry to take on a seemingly open-and-shut murder case involving a teenaged boy and his homophobic tormentor. I wonât say more about this; just that itâs painful all around, and serves as a reminder of how hard gay teens had it (and still have it) in the supposed land of freedom in which we live. Rios is dragged into the shiny, sleazy world of Hollywood, and both he and the reader get a carefully choreographed tour of the money-crazed hypocrisy that embodies Hollywood even today. Nava manipulates his readers skillfully, using every detail to build tension, stir up anxiety, and turns a sordid tale of murder and broken sexuality into the story of an unheroic hero who is willing to break his own heart to bring justice to the unloved. He pretty much stole my heart.
Navaâs series leaves me with terribly mixed emotions. But they must be positive, since Iâm already on book 3, âHow Town.â
Looking for a good detective that also happens to be gay?
I enjoy reading about Henry Rios. A good detective who is not defined by his sexuality, but who is not ashamed of it, either. It's great to read a good, solid mystery with real and likable characters with dimensions and flaws. It's also great to read a LGBTQ book that is not defined by the main character's sexuality, or that does not feel like an excuse to string together multiple sex scenes. Rios is a great defense lawyer, and sometimes I find myself wishing he was a detective or Private Investigator in title as well as in practice.

Listen to another enticing mystery, turned misadventure, by New York Times bestselling author, Patrick F. McManus, to find out!
    Members Reviews:
    Another Bo Tully Success
These shorter books are a great listen and worth a laugh or two. McManus has a knack for one liners that are really pretty clever and funny. As the series progresses, the reader learns to like the characters more and more. I was a little concerned that the latest narrator was different, but he got the job done and seemed to get in the spirit of things. This mystery is a little different than the others - simpler. If you're looking for a Nobel prize winner, you need to look somewhere else. If you're looking for a lighthearted mystery with some funny characters, then you've come to the right place.
    Bo Is Back Again
Would you listen to The Tamarack Murders again? Why?
Probably not. It was fine, but not a stand-out listen.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Most interesting: The puzzle of the crime had quite a few twists and turns. Least interesting: The final reveal at the end which provided information that the reader was not given to work with which acts as a lynch pin to the story.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was a bit flatter than previous books by this author. This narrator was less theatrical about the character voices and it diminished the listen, in my opinion.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
yes, it was short and interesting enough that I did listen to it - mostly - in one sitting.
    Any additional comments?
I have to say that this is probably the weakest in the series so far. The story was average, the narration average. I would recommend it only to Bo Tully or Patrick McManus fans. This would not be a good way to hook someone in on the series.
    Mediocre .
Convoluted sometimes incoherent blabbering. Little of mystery or whatever. Do not waste time listening to it.

The two sandstone monoliths towering over the southern Colorado landscape are wrapped in ancient mystery. To the local tribes, they are the Twin War Gods, sons of the moon goddess, White Shell Woman.
Legends tell of strange happenings in their shadows, of lost treasure and Anasazi blood sacrifice. But it is a much more recent history that troubles former Ute policeman-turned-rancher Charlie Moon, specifically the fresh corpse of a young Native American woman unearthed at an archaeological dig.
    Editorial Reviews:
Mysterious monoliths in Southern Coloradolegends of a "White Shell Women"...a corpse If magic and mystery are your cup of tea, you'll love White Shell Women: A shaman Mystery.
Protagonist Charlie has been warned to stay away from the statuesbut of course, that only makes them irresistible to him. He does go near them, and in this book you'll find the consequences. Combining ancient and modern mystical elements, Native American lore, and classic mystery-genre tropes, James D. Doss comes up with a really unique story. The narrator here is Romy Nordinger, whose high voice has a certain efficient quality: She bustles, rather than reads the story through.
    Members Reviews:
Might've been a good story, but...
I couldn't stand the voice work. The reader put inflection in weird places, rhythm was all off. I just couldn't listen to it. It was as though the reader was accustomed to doing children's books ... Very irritating.

Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Modern Detective
    Publisher's Summary:
Haunted by a life of violence and as proficient with languages as she is with knives, Vanessa Michael Munroe, chameleon and hunter, has built her life on a reputation for getting things done - dangerous and often not-quite-legal things. Born to missionary parents in lawless Africa, taken under the tutelage of gunrunners, and tortured by one of the jungles most brutal men, Munroe was forced to do whatever it took to stay alive.
The ability to survive, fight, adapt, and blend has since taken her across the globe on behalf of corporations, heads of state, and the few private clients who can afford her unique brand of expertise, and these abilities have made her enemies.
On a busy Dallas street, Munroe is kidnapped by an unseen opponent and thrust into an underground world where women and girls are merchandise and a shadowy figure known as The Doll Maker controls her every move. While trusted friends race to unravel where she is and why she was taken, everything pivots on one simple choice: Munroe must use her unique set of skills to deliver a high-profile young woman into the same nightmare that she once endured, or condemn to torture and certain death the one person she loves above all else.
Driven by the violence that has made her what she is, cut off from help, and with attempts to escape predicted and prevented, Munroe will hunt for openings, for solutions, and a way to strike back at a man who holds all the cards. Because only one thing is certain: She cannot save everyone.
In this high-octane thriller for fans of Lee Child, Stieg Larsson, and Robert Ludlum's Bourne trilogy, Vanessa Michael Munroe will have to fight fast, smart, and furiously to overcome a dangerous nemesis and deliver her trademark brand of justice.
    Critic Reviews:
"Munroe is a sensational character and Stevens is a sensational writer, and together they put The Doll high on my books-of-the-year list." (Lee Child, New York Times best-selling author of the Jack Reacher series)
"Prolific linguist and exquisitely honed killer Munroe is no less effective here for still suffering from past trauma. Stevens third series outing is another brisk, adrenaline-fueled adventure with a trail of bodies and a damaged protagonist who may live to kill another day." (Library Journal)
"Stevens third Munroe book is another international action-adventure with a Bourne-like avenging angel at the reins." (Booklist)
    Members Reviews:
    Michael's Intriguing heroine.
Vanessa Michael Munro is not just a superb physical specimen who can fight better, run better and handle weapons better than any man, she also has brains and can speak almost every language on the planet. Of course she uses all her superb talents in this latest book on her life and deeds. It somewhat helps, but it's not necessary, to have read all Steven's books in the series to get and understanding of how all the characters in the book relate to her and neatly fit into all the layers of the story. I found this an excellent and exciting read and I'm looking forward to see what Michael gets up to in the future.
    Fabulous, riveting!
Would you listen to The Doll again? Why?
The only hesitation regarding would I read it again is that there are SO many books I want to read. I'm voracious.
