I'm hooked!

Lucy is a blood slave for elite vampires. Her and her sister we raised from a very age to be courtesans but now she was free and her sister is dead. Soon Lucy would be dead from the very thing that killed her sister. Now all she wants is revenge before she dies, but she's going to need help. Victor is a vampire and mercenary by trade. Lucy seeks him out to help her. At first he says no, but after being accused by werewolves for killing their kind, allegedly by the very person Lucy is after, he changes his mind. His price is high and has nothing to do with money. As they train together, their attraction grows from physical to something more. Vampires, werewolves and Lucy's impending death is hanging over them and time is not on their side. Now they are on a race to beat the clock before Lucy loses her life and and war between all supernatural kind breaks out.

I'm always interested to see if an author can put a new spin on a popular genre without it being too cheesy. I believe author Dee Carney has done that (The spin not the cheesy part) with Hunger Untamed. I've read plenty of books that have humans as slaves for vampires but not any that have trained courtesans. Definitely gave a unique spin on things. Since I found why Lucy is dying to be a interesting plot twist I'm leaving the details out but I will say, that also was unique for me. Victor also has a new feel to him. In a world where authors create leading men as perfect and rich, Victor is neither of them. He's a merc because he needs the money and half is face is affected by paralysis. He agrees to help her learn to train to kill Sage but his reasons why aren't immediately known.

I really enjoyed Lucy and Victor's story. There's a quite a bit of friction between these two to keep me always guessing. It was easy to tell from the beginning that Victor had a thing for her. Not so much from Lucy. As for her health and why she was dying, that was a very interesting twist. As much a I felt this was their story, it was Victor that I really loved. As fragile as Lucy's health was, I always felt Victor was the one more easily breakable. I'm not saying I wasn't going to be upset if she died, but Victor seems to have a more vulnerable side.

If you haven't read 'The Soul Mate' and 'My Soul to Take' do so now. No, not later. Right now becauseï¿ seriously this series is so darn good. Seriously.

The Lost Souls sucks you right in from the synopsis. We get multiple POV's from several of the characters throughtout the book which I thought was bloody brilliant. Not once did I get confused or lost about what was happening or who I was reading about. The flow from each POV and the characters was done smoothly.

We get Tobar, Becki, Nico, Shandor, Xan, Trinity, Hockey, Marko, Carrie, Mira, Tahyra and few others.

We find out who survives (for now), who doesn't (que funkin' tears). Who falls in love, who falls out of love. What's happened to characters after being separated from a group and/or who left camp.

This book had me shouting at my kindle, intrigued, mesmerized, grabbing my hair, thankful that it's not the end of the world, thankful for shampoo and conditioner, thankful for shaving cream and razors (which I might go ahead and get the lazer hair removal done...just in case sheet hits the fan and the end of the world happens). At several spots it had me doing the Home Alone face because I was just completely shocked when a certain someone dies. Then I was shocked but not really because I had a feeling that something was going to happen when another fell. Then...then I was gutted...yet again by the hands of MS (she needs to stop making me cry my own darn tears).

I love how in the beginning everyone was scattered or alone then slowly they join other survivors, then at the end it all comes together. I see certain people in a different light (good and bad). Makes me wonder what's going to happen in the next and final (EEPP!!!) book, like how is it going to play out? Will everything go back to normal (like it was all a dream) or will things stay the same, forever changed? Will they succedd in what they have to do? Who will be left standing? Who will fall?

Amazing

Sophie is back on the case of the Pentagram killer and things get rough. She and Marshall end up going undercover at the coven as newlyweds. Sophie is having a hard time trusting her heart but her powers are in full swing. There are some misunderstandings and your heart aches for Sophie and Marshall. Heartache for Jack too but he deserves it. The romance is so believable and it is great to see all the guys firmly in Sophie's corner.

This is one of those well written books that you cannot put down. Definitely a keeper.

A great read!

I loved this whole series. The heroine is a sensitive yet tough lady who knows what she wants and doesn't back down. She has a super power and uses it for good. The men are swoon worthy and you will love every minute!

Absolutely love, love, love this series...I read them as soon as I get them and can't wait for the next!!! This is totally one of those books that sucks you into it and you don't let anything distract you until it's over! Would recommend to everyone!!!

Another good one..

I bought this book late last evening and read all the way to 97%, until, at 3:35am when I couldnt keep my eyes open anymore.

I absolutely loved Zach but Ella took some time getting used to. Boy, she was sooo mean when Zach got to her house with Joe. I could see her having been mad at Joe when it first happened but, good grief, 7 years had passed and she still dwelled on it? Thats holding a grudge for a long time. And what she did to try and hurt Joe was kind of unforgivable. I wasnt crazy about her after she did that.

However, with Zach, Savannah, Joe and Thomas in the story I could forget about her most of the time.

Again, there was no sexual tension in this book but Zach said a couple of things to Ella that were really super sexy, but that was all, and there was explicit sex, which could have been better with some tension involved, something that led up to it.

This started out with Zach being an assassin and I loved that he killed the man he did. BUT I was totally surprised by who had hired Zach. The people in this story all deserved killing, IMO.

There was swearing. The F-bomb was used 30 times.

As to the narrator: He was pretty good. He did whisper and laugh when the book called for it but he seemed to whisper during the entire book. His male and female voices were just OK for me. There wasnt any emotion in his reading but I'd listen to him again. I wouldn't go out of my way to find his books but I've heard a lot worse.

Wow let me say right from the first "This is a must read series!". It is so exciting to read!. The characters are amazing!.

Diana is a curvy spunky young woman who gets a temp. job at Yazzie Properties real estate company. One of the reasons she went for this job is a chance to meet the CEO Cathassa Yazzie he is also a member of the Zuni Indian tribe. Ever sense she seen his picture on the cover of a magazine she has been drawn to him. When Cathassa aka Cat sees Diana he has her come to his office. They talk about a legend in his tribe of the old salt lake which is also called Old white salt Woman. This legend is also connected to the White Cougar. He tells her his Grandfather told him the legend states the Old white salt Woman's spirit is told to be reborn in a woman not of his tribe. Then Cat gives her a Tailsman in shape of a white cougar that belonged to his tribe. It seems this Tailsman and Cat may change Diana's life forever.

Once you read this story you will want the rest of the books in this series! It is exciting,suspenseful and mysterious!. You will love it!.

Could be awesome but a little lacking

I finished the talisman last night and was excited at first because it had so much potential. But was let down after only three chapters were included in the book. There was no romance and there were holes in the plot, it's set up well to give you the answers later but if that's all of book one then it needs more, just more. I am making assumptions that the male lead is Mr. Yazzie, but the very brief encounter with him in the book was not enough to solidify my belief. Honestly , this has the makings of a very good series. One I would pick up on kindle or in store with no hesitation. But I feel like the third person writing style along with the brief book that it is somewhat deters me. There was more time in the book spent on unnecessary details than developing characters or story line. You couldn't really form an opinion about the female lead you did meet and enough time was spent with the peach that is Amanda that you automatically dislike her, although she could easily be turned into an awesome character!

Ultimately, 1. I could have liked the characters if the author had developed them more.

2. I could have gotten behind the storyline, but in 3 short chapters there was nothing to grab hold to

A second chance at love for a jilted groom

I found this book to be captivating, especially after reading the first book in the series,Timeless Beginnings. In the first book, Jaye's grandmother, a runaway bride in the early 1700s, falls into a vortex and ends up in 1963 in the Bolivian sand flats. In this book, her granddaughter travels to the sand flats, falls in, and travels back in time to meet the groom her grandmother deserted on their wedding day ... who villagers believe murdered his young wife. The descriptions of England in 1735 were so well done, and the struggles of Jaye to adjust to life three centuries before without giving herself away were clever and fun. The misunderstood hero reminded me a bit of Jane Eyre's Rochester with a dash of Mr. Darcy and Heathcliff thrown in. A very enjoyable read.

SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO

This is the third story in the Mirrors of Time series, a time travel series. This book focuses on Jaye Ramsey, a 28-year-old, single librarian from Seattle, who has gone to Bolivia with her four friends to Salar de Uyuni before the wedding of Emma Miller. Slow Burn, Brooding, and Gritty Vampire Romance

Would you consider the audio edition of Bleeding Hearts to be better than the print version?

Probably not better as I did find the areas explaining the world of the Demimonde and the connection to Egyptian Mythology tougher to follow, but definitely equal in good storytelling.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bleeding Hearts?

That's tough. The ending blew my mind and left me sobbing and heartbroken while eager for more. But I found the car chase exciting and loved the times with Marick's brother and Sophie.

Which scene was your favorite?

That would be the last scene of the book. and I can't say more or I'll spoil it. But yeah, the best and will stick with me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Okay, I just laughed because yes, I had an extreme reaction. I've reread certain scenes over for the way they grabbed my emotions.Yes, I laughed a little and later, cried a lot. More than one tissue if you get into your books like I do.

Any additional comments?

This is part of a trilogy and it is best that the reader go in knowing that this book ends with the knowledge that it will pick up in book two and this isn't a standalone.The worldbuilding is fresh and the paranormal side is darker and gritty. The romance is sweet and slow burning though very sensual. There is a hint of competition for the hero.Definitely recommend this to Urban Fantasy lovers.

wow and then some

I'll be the first to say I love a heroine with spunk, and this girl has it in spades! I was listening to this book at home and even my 13 yr old daughter got wrapped up in sophie's sassy ways. She goes through hell and still has her spirit. I love the way she stands up for herself and doesn't let anyone run over her. I was so wrapped up in this story I fell asleep listening to it. Sass, love, heartbreak, this one has it all without raunchy details which works for the story as you can focus on the characters and all that happens to them.

All Is Not As It Seems

This is a paranormal, short, Billionaire romance featuring a tech company CEO and a writer who meet on an airplane. When the writer's flight gets canceled due to weather, the "kindly" and sexy CEO offers her a room in his NY penthouse.. This semi-gothic romance short story does feel a little rushed due to its length, which is to be expected. Cynthia Mendoza has written paranormal shorts that I liked better than this one, but I did like this one too. As far as 1-hour audiobooks go, it's well-written entertainment.

Claire Lockhart has a youthful but expressive voice and reads the descriptive paragraphs well. She has a pretty good feel for dialogue, and I wasn't distracted by any mispronunciations. There were a couple of rough spots where I think a re-read was in order because the inflection was off, but overall I think she did a good job. I received this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review.

Strange

This was a feel good story from the H/h view. The H was tired of being alone and when he discovered the h he knew he had found what he was looking for. Even though it is a strange tale it was a good one and ended well for both of them. I was given this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. This was good for a very short story It was superficial because it would be difficult to get into detail in such a short amount of time. There wasn't much to the book which made it easier to read/listen to. I enjoy Cynthia Mendoza's book and the narrator did a great job. I will continue to read her stuff.

not bad

The story was ok but the voice of the narrator was grinding like a robot. No expression and totally mono sounding. Apart from that its ok.
