    Publisher's Summary:
Anna Draekus has harbored a shadowy secret all her life - a secret that she's trained for years to conceal from her king and fellow military officers. Anna belongs to an elite, underground guard charged with protecting the royal family at all costs. This sworn responsibility is one that must never be discovered - not even by King Jared himself.
But when her superior officer, Nevin Daniels, uncovers her membership in the circle of protectors thought to be extinct, Anna finds herself in treacherous territory. A place where attraction and temptation overrule everything else, including her loyalties.
Despite his attempts to keep Anna out of his thoughts, Nevin can't help but fantasize about the beautiful soldier and admire her free spirit - nor can he resist her unselfconscious sensuality. While Nevin attempts to maintain his aloof, unemotional exterior, he and Anna embark on a routine patrol together. But when an unexpected incident leaves them marooned deep in the backcountry of Wyoming, Nevin's longings grow dangerously close to fruition. And his cool reserve crumbles in the face of his long-tempered desire for Anna - a desire that has trapped him in an emotional stranglehold. Theirs is a magnetic attraction that not even a man of Nevin's discipline and rank can resist - and Anna is all too eager to finally allow the flame of their lusts to blaze to life. After all, what happens in the back country of Wyoming stays in the backcountry of Wyoming.... Or does it?

A Parallel Series Short Story to Enjoy
I really enjoyed reading the story of Anna Draekus and Nevin Daniels. They needed some patience and persistance in order to overcome their difficulties and to have their happy ending. It is not necessary to read this book to understand the Parallel series, but it really adds richness to their world.
Great fill in to the parallel series.
I highly recommend this terrific short fill-in to Knight's Parallel series. I am not the proud owner of a magical Kindle, but I read this when it was offered as an Amazon short. If you are a fan of the series you'll recognized Anna and Nevin and I loved them both here. Nevin was especially appealing as the capable warrior leader who is so very attracted to Anna that he's unable to talk to her, until one day he manages to flirt a bit. But he doesn't plan on pursuing her because he's in his maturity (which means he's past breeding age) and she's a sweet young thing. These two finally connect when they are on a mission and their craft is disabled. Their coming together is very steamy and holds some surprises for the two of them.
This story falls between theParallel Seduction (Midnight Warriors, Book 3)andParallel Desire (Midnight Warriors, Book 4). If you haven't read any of the other books it would work as a stand-alone read.
    Parallel Fire
A Madjin, Lt. Anna Draekus has spent the majority of her life protecting the king. Unsure of what has happened, she is brought before a panel of her peers and is questioned by none other than Lieutenant Nevin Daniels, the one man guaranteed to make Anna pant. For years he has been the subject of her fantasies. When she is told to accompany him on a day mission, she doesn't hesitate to obey. When that mission turns into four days of solitude, Anna still doesn't refuse Nevin anything. And I mean ANYTHING.
I liked Parallel Fire very much.

I like Kat as a narrator...I just dont know if I would have chosen her for this story...plus there weresom mispronouncing of words that could have been avoided...
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Humorous, fun, light-hearted paranormal that will keep you laughing
One of my most favorite things is when I find a book on sale (or free!) by a new-to-me author that is fantastic. Odd Stuff by Virginia Nelson is one of those awesome finds. I canât even remember where I found the link, but I do know that I am reading the rest of this series! A fun, light-hearted paranormal romance, I was laughing out loud through much of the book.
All in all, Odd Stuff is a highly entertaining and humorously light-hearted read. It very nicely filled a void in my current reading schedule while adding yet another new-to-me author to my TBR list. Janie reminded me a bit of a Stephanie Plum-type character in a paranormal world. She stumbles into all of the information, but itâs in such an enjoyable way that I donât mind the implausibility (I mean, we are working with vampires and ogres here). A really fun world with characters that I want to meet for coffee, Odd Stuff left me with tears in my eyes from the laughs and several new fictional friends.

Interesting and Entertaining but has a few flaws.
Let me begin by saying I liked the book and it's premise. While it followed a pretty common trope (Recently divorced woman retuning home with her child to start over) it took a few interesting detours into the paranormal.
This is a recently released book and has some technical problems. One of the largest is two chapter 17s and yes they are identical. There are also a handful of missing words, homophones, typos and just misspellings. Additionally formatting characters that are supposed to be invisible sometimes are between words. Looks like the conversion to Amazon format did not go well. The book is still perfectly readable but this is noted as some find this more irritating than others.
Author is obviously experienced with a number of books to her credit. This one has been out for a while so I am not sure why there have been no reviews to date. Most of her work to date appears to be erotic romance and while this book would border on it I would class it more Paranormal Romantic Suspense.
    Amazingly fun to read
Great writing, loveable characters, and humor combine to bring us a delightful story about a woman who learns to not only overcome the challenges life has dealt her but also how to be true to herself oddities and all.
5 star for content, 1 star for typos
I loved the story. It was quirky and different -- an adult paranormal romance that wasn't too chaste or erotic, with plenty of sarcasm and wit thrown in. I'd give the story 5 stars just for keeping me interested. Unfortunately, the typos and errors kept pulling me out of the story. One of the chapters was repeated. I think a different chapter was supposed to go in its place because a couple of things are referenced after that which were never explained.

    Be Warned
What made the experience of listening to The Dragon Enters the most enjoyable?
Good story...but seemed somewhat incomplete...Like it was part of a longer book.
Who was your favorite character and why?
    The main Dragon..forget his name.
Have you listened to any of James Killaveys other performances before? How does this one compare?
He's one of my favorite narrator's and did his usual good job.
    Any additional comments?
Be warned that...the sex scenes are quite explicit. Not for the prudish or those easily offended.
Short story was good... reader was aweful
Is there anything you would change about this book?
First thing I would change is whomever is doing the reading. I swear it sounds like a really bad news caster. My other half said it sounded like a bad text to speech computer reader. It made the story painful to listen to.
How could the performance have been better?
Someone with emotion in there voice would have been very welcome.
    Any additional comments?
This book is not a documentary or a instructional manual. But that's what it sounds like because of the vocals. Highly disappointed.

I could not follow this story line.
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The story seemed overdone or in dire need of editing. The main lead came across as bipolar one minute and neurotic the next. I don't know about you but I like to image my self as the main character or at least someone I would want to hang out with. This female lead was sub par. The male lead never seemed to connect with her or was it just no chemistry ....no the chemistry was forced. Overall did not like the story as told.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I love a good love story no matter how the couple gets there. But would prefer to find authors who are not auditioning for playboy during the love scenes.
Would you be willing to try another one of Katina Kalins performances?
    No, not interested.
What character would you cut from The Lure of Song and Magic?
Rewrite the lead female and give the male lead more insight. I have no problem with an alpha male but he had nothing to work with and by the middle of the story you were just as tired of him as you were of her.

    Unusual storyline for paranormal romance
I enjoyed the story of an advanced civilization that had visited earth ions ago and became the egyptian gods. Advance forward to today and a tarot set that set the course of gods.
This is the second story of Tht Forbidden Tarot. Set has been accidently been summonrd and is walking the earth looking for a younger body and a way to create a new world.
The characters in the book go on an adventure that some don't come back from and others find themselves and each other. The drawback? This story is too descriptive, too many
words. My husband listened with me and agreed..fewer words can tell the same story, perhaps even better.
    e Darkdaf
This was a fun interesting paranormal romance. the author ties in paranormal ideas with native American mystery, Egyptian artifacts and wilderness adventure. there are no steemy sex sceens but a well developed romance. I just wish the persons who choose the readers think more about the production. the reader for this book read well for all the voices except the Hero Jack... so sad and lacking. Jack is described as a 6ft rugged cowboy in his 30's with a deep rumbling voice..... so why whenever Jack speaks he sounds like a 13 year old boy. when I heard the reader's voice for Jack I almost deleted the book. production people please get a man to read the voice of men don't spoil the book.
Liked it, but I won't read the whole series
I'll admit that overall, I found this story entertaining. I'd definitely recommend this book for a listen. But a few things to keep in mind. I usually read the reviews before I spend my hard-earned credits on any new author or series, because I've had bad surprises in the past. First thing I discovered was that this is in fact the second book of the series, not the first. But, this story is pretty much a stand-alone novel, it feels like you're not missing much if you haven't read the first book. Then, it's likely there's probably going to be a third one. You can tell by the last 30 seconds of this recording, which by the way, the story could do without. The author is throwing a wrench into her own story train with that last part, I enjoyed the archeology, mythology, spiritual overtones, etc. but adding more into the mix is overkill.

Lucifer is dead and Hell is under new management.
Ash had lived his life under a deal with a demon, but when the demon asked for more than Ash could give, he killed the demon to save his sister and the woman he loved... and in doing so, Ash landed himself as the new leader of Hell.
Ash accepted his fate and asked only one thing in return: He didn't want Elizabeth, the woman who held his heart, to be a part of his new life. He just wanted her safe and happy, and he asked that they not know each other.
Elizabeth was happy as a trauma surgeon until one day she was hit with a deep, dark depression. She feels as though she has lost the love of her life, but can't figure out why she would suddenly feel that way. All she knows is that she keeps seeing flashes of man that she can't really make out in her mind, and feelings of longing for him that make no sense.
Ash is now entrenched in his new life and faced with the enormous task of learning to lead Hell. With the help of a Warrior Angel, he is busy recruiting his Elite Guard, yet he can feel that there is something or someone missing from his life and he is determined to find out who or what it is.
The Warrior knows about Elizabeth and also knows that God always leads one in the right direction... even the leader of Hell. One touch is all it would take... but he needs to get them together at the right place and the right time.
The question is, can he do it before they are found by those who seek their demise?

much improved from the first novel
Salvation is the second novella in the series called Keepers of Hell by Danielle James. Ash fortunes have turned. After spending years being under the control of a demon, Ash now has all the power. But these new powers, both the physical powers and the new political power, have a large learning curve. His naiveté provides his political opposition some unique opportunities to cause havoc. At the same time, Ash is overwhelmed with some rootless unhappiness and anger. As he tries to figure out his new life, Ash must also try to figure out what is causing his irrational mood.
Unfortunately, this novella missed the mark for me. However, there were many things that I thought were much improved from the first novel. This second novella had a more developed plot than the first novella. This might be because some initial groundwork was laid out in the first novella. This allowed James to give a stronger focus to the development of the paranormal aspects of the series. The plotline is a new take on some classic ideas, which is interesting. However, like the first novella, I think this one suffered a little from the short length as well. Most of the characters needed further development. However, I did like the inclusion of the former vampire assistant that Ash is sent by God. While goofy, he provided much needed comic relief. The cliffhanger in the first novella helped build the driving points for this stories plot. The reader should be warned, there are some violent scenes. And I personally did not feel that this aspect of the novella was handled well throughout the story. This novella too ends with a big revelation that sets the story for the next installment. This story was also infused with romance, but like before I felt like it was missing a critical mental compatibility between the two characters that was never developed.
The narration by Miles Taylor was alright.

    Decent, but...
I found myself interested in the idea of the story and thought I would probably like this book. I was wrong. Between the extremely over the top narration, particularly in the romance scenes-which honestly sounded so breathy as to be sarcastic - like something I would jokingly say to my husband. I will be most likely avoiding the combination of this author and narrator. I'm not sure if it's just a bad combination and I would like both of their works, only separately. I feel like I probably would. This is why the overall rating is only 2 while the performance and story were both rated 3. I will likely be checking out both the author and narrator again- just never together.

This story was unique and different than most stories I've listened to. It reminds me of the future like the TV show Continuum, without the time travel and romance. This is also the first story that I've heard written by author Deborah A. Bailey and I was pleased with the journey into the world Deborah has created. I'm not big on writing a huge review because I think it gives too much away for others. I can only tell you it's worth the listen, worth that credit, and I highly recommend you give it a listen. I really enjoyed Jonathan, he's cocky, arrogant, but a descent man all the same. Nadira, well I wasn't so sure about her at first but she grew on me.
