Frequent word usage errors made it a tough listen

What disappointed you about The Weeping Books of Blinney Lane?

I hate to give a well-meaning book such a low rating, but it appears no editor ever looked at this manuscript. It was hard to get lost in the story because the writing was so riddled with errors. The author thinks "droll" means "dull and dreary" (and she loves the word and uses it repeatedly). A "worrisome person" is apparently someone who worries a lot. "Machismo" is an adjective. Someone "likely would have *went* insane." Etc., Etc.

The concept and plot were intriguing enough, but the characters never came alive for me at all. Perhaps a compelling narrator could have overcome the writing flaws, but the narrator seemed to read everything in the same mildly stern tone regardless of the emotion of the scene. She also frequently stressed the wrong words in sentences, obscuring the meaning.

Passionate Paranormal

*Honest review requested*

As one that just dabbles in paranormal romance I thought this was a great quick read. For less than 100 pages the author did a fantastic job of immersing the reader into this futuristic society. It was great how 21st century issues were revamped in a 30 or 31st century galaxy. Great description of the 'city'.

I really liked that although this was considered a quick romance the relationship between Vector and Larissa actually took someone to develop. That was very refreshing.

Lastly, kudos to the author for "taking out the trash"! You gotta read the book to understand.

An Original and Creative Read:)

This was a very interesting read. I received this book in exchange for an honest review and although it is not my typical genre I really found myself enjoying it. So much so, that I wish there was more to read about this unlikely (and imaginative) couple. As a first time reader of the sci-fi romance genre I wasn't too sure what to expect, but Olivia Myers does a wonderful job of creating and describing this fantastical world and their inhabitants. I will be looking into more of her books to see what else she has up her sleeve.

I read this due to a request for a review.

Ok, the beginning was boring and dull and incredibly uninteresting... however, if you hang in there until the last third, the story takes life and is fun, interesting, sexy and HOT.

Now if the story had managed that within the first few pages, I would be far more interested in the characters, their story and reading more.

I will be checking out more of Ms. Myers stories though, as once she gets going she is an amazing writer.

This is a very well written sci-fi, erotic fantasy, short. Itâs about 50 pages so itâs a quick read but let me tell you it gets the job done! Normally I am not into science fiction but this one was sooooo good! Myers gives amazing descriptions of the alien races (there are multiple), and erotica like a pro! Well done. I also found this short story rather humorous. All in all, I highly recommend this read. It is quite unique (something I have never read before), funny, and erotic. Itâs well worth the hour it will take you to read it!

Super short & felt incomplete. The second (extra) story was better. I liked Duke & Lexi more.

Merfolk!

This is a fascinating story. I always like stories of mermaids(merfolk). This story is written by Carrie L. Wells and she has written the perfect story. I do wish it has been longer, anywhere from six to ten hours.

Narrator Kristin James did another fantastic job. She kept me engrossed in this story from start to finish. Overall, I give it a perfect 5 star rating. I do hope Kristin narrates the next story that's coming out this year.

Good Start to a New Series

I enjoyed the story very much and it was fun to listen to a new take on mermaids. The narration was a little fast paced and there could have been more pause between scene changes, but overall the narrator did a fine job immersing the listener into the mermaid world.

I know this will be part of a series, but I felt I was just beginning to get into the characters and the story ended abruptly. I needed a couple more hours to become fully engaged in Luke and Anya's story. Hopefully the second installment will also be offered on Audiobook Blast so I will be reminded to listen!

HARD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN LIFE STYLES

I enjoyed the book for listening while driving and for relaxing a little before sleep. What I found very disappointing is there was NO ending. I realize that it is a "Collection" but that does not mean that each book can't have a finale. It ended more like a long charter than a stand-alone book. The story idea is interesting, the narration nice and the romance quite tasteful.

Mer-people & humans share the ocean

What did you like best about At the Heart of the Deep? What did you like least?

This story has a mystery for us, with a purpose other than the romance that blooms between Anya and Luke. The ocean is changing. And more. There are light orbs that Luke's crew sees on their research boat. Then Anya knows where it's coming from, but she doesn't know what cased the energy source or why it's there.

Excellent Narration!!!

What did you love best about Werewolf Romance: Never Cry Wolf?

It's a tough call between the wonderful narration and the fact you don't often find short stories to have a good plot and get to know the characters as well. Usually it's one or the other but this book pulls off both.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Rian and Lea made a great pair. I don't think you could favor one over the other.

Have you listened to any of Meghan Kellys other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was my first time I've gotten to listen to Meghan Kelly narrate before. She has an excellent voice and really brought the story to life. Her voice is very clear and makes it an enjoyable listen.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I really enjoyed this Novella. I thought it was well written and had all the info needed in such a short period of time. Not to mention I LOVED the narration. You don't often find short stories to have a good plot and get to know the characters as well. Usually it's one or the other but this book pulls off both. A great enjoyable mini read. I felt like I really got to know the characters. The narration was really good. I've never heard Meghan Kelly narrate before, her voice was so fitting for the book as well as very clear and soothing.

The Action Doesn't Quit!

This is a spinoff from Kristen Middleton Night Roamers series. Lycan Megan has been running for over a decade from an egotistical Lycan whore. She fears for the life of her daughter Caitlyn. After a premonition of sorts she goes back to Minnesota and faces the man who she fears.

As always with Kristen Middleton this story is exciting and filled with action. Megan is put in a situation where she has to rescue her daughter and mother. She enlists the help of the sexy Lycan Turin. There is an immediate attraction between them and the story gets a little steamy.

Maren McGuire narrates the story. Her voice matched the story as it made Megans character pop for me. If I have any complaint is that the story is too short. For readers of fantastic supernatural stories this is a fun one.

Narrator difficult with American Characters

I started this, but I confess I lost interest. The narrator just can't do American accents, and doesn't really try. The writing hops all over the place between multiple characters. I may try it again, but it felt low budget and not well done to me.

Why not more reviews?

This world is fascinating!!! There is a bit of heat, lots of sexual tension, and the plot is very good. I don't know why more people haven't listened to these books! This is book 2 by the way but it could be read without the first one.

Imagine being a 25 year old woman who is the daughter of the ruler, for her own protection she's been sent away to live and grow at the age of 10. She doesn't know much about life but she's sort of content with her drawings and her animal friends in the forest. That is until her grandmother tells her in the middle of the night that she has to break a warrior, an enemy of her people, out of jail. She does what she is told, she always does, and everything was going according to plan...that is until he tells her she's not going anywhere, her father is the head of the people who killed his wife and child and she will PAY!

Awesome story, great world, fascinating little supernatural gifts and quirks. So why didn't I give it a 5 star review. *sigh* the authors choice in words for sexual things was kind of hokey. The words "member" and "her heat" were used a bit too much. When I role my eyes a star gets taken away, but still the world fascinated me. I would buy this book even at full price. Loved it!

Another Failed K.I.S.S. Attempt

The story had several interesting ideas, but should have been made into several books, not into one. If the author decided to stay with the whole "being haunted by a dead first love" in a "modern times" romance, it would have been fine. Or "a female doctor being kidnapped by beings from another world" and kept the whole sci-fi romance, it would have been fine as well. But not both at the same time. It was distracting and I just could not stay focused with the book.

The narrator was good. She put such an enthusiastic flare on the reading of a first person point of view, it made it seem like it was really the main character talking through her personal experiences. She even made the "villains" have really annoying voices so you as a listener could not like them.

Loved it!!!!

Dang, where is book 4?!?!?!?

This world is awesome! There is no way to put it but awesome. I have listened to books 1-3 and frankly I'm about ready to stalk this author. The world is so unique! Each book has been a different thread to the story and I can't wait to find out how they all come together.

Do you like hot alpha males? Strong female leads that don't take and s$!t from them, evil men who get what they deserve, plots within plots with a mystical edge? Dang I love these books, I don't know why more people haven't read them.

The only downside to them is that the author does use hokey words for male and female anatomy like member or "her hot folds", but the story itself is just so awesome I'm willing to overlook that. Can't say enough good things, go get book one and see how you feel about it!

Great Job

Would you listen to Pieces of Three again? Why?

Yes, definitely. It's not my normal genre, but I enjoy paranormal (+1 star) and liked the sample. I'm really glad I listened. It is more of what I would call heavy romance than erotica, which is a plus for me (+2 stars). There was a good balance of characterization and pace (+1 star). Not too much detail or too little (+1 star). It isn't a top-ten for me, but is definitely a keeper.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Pieces of Three?

The ending "twist" was clever. I guessed it very early, but it was good.

What does Derrick McClain bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

I am so glad there were no squeaky female voices (+3 stars). In some genres, it's no big deal, but this is not the kind of book you want to laugh at. He did a great job with a female main character, and I had no problem telling any of the characters apart (+1 star).

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Actually, I kept falling asleep and having to replay parts, not because the story isn't attention-holding, but because the narrator has a very smooth voice. No outbursts of laughter from Kermit voices (+1 star)! I've already put it in my "nighttime track." (+25 stars for that.)

Any additional comments?

It was an easy-to-follow, well-structured story with excellent narration. I would definitely be interested in more from both the author and narrator.

A Different Kind of Werewolf Story

Did Derrick McClain do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I think the way he voiced each character really helped me tell Porter and Julian apart, especially when things got, ahem, close.

Any additional comments?

I wish the islands and society had been rounded out a little bit more, through description or through the three characters traveling through the world. Each individual too could have used a more full personality, and I would like to have found out more about the mens' past.
