Good read

Good story and good narration however the narrator was impossible to understand at times due to her accents.

Strong Performance with a Flaw

This narrator was great, except for the mispronunciation of German words. It took some time for me to realize what the words were. Emphasis on the wrong syllable and mixing up ie and ei were the primary problems. The characterizations were wonderful, though, and the story was charming.

Very entertaining.

I really enjoyed this tale set in Austria. The kind caring backstage worker at the opera who has a passion for her work. Guy and Martha - hard working, caring people. Juxtaposed by the greedy self interested woman who would like to marry Guy. All the quaint characters bought to life by the narration of Kate Lock. She does and incredible job of narrating them all and making it sound like a whole cast of narrators.

If you could sum up Magic Flutes in three words, what would they be?

The story line is predictable, if one read any other Eva Ibbtson romances. But, as all of them, erudite, entertaining, and very funny.

How could the performance have been better?

The reading is clear, but the character accents are unnecessary, overblown, and mostly irritating. The common, but still regrettable and illogical device of characters speaking the same language to each other with an accent. As in - two Austrians conversing, supposedly in their native German, but each rendered with her own ridiculous German accent.

Better than Book 1

I thought book two was better than book one. It was more exciting and I couldn't wait to hear more! Only bummer now is Audible doesn't have book three or four! Looks like I will have to buy them and read them the old fashion way! I hope they are just as good....

Enchanting and Sad

This book has some very lovable and hate-able characters. I love the native american influences and magical intrigue. This book doesn't seem to end the series, just wish I'd know that first, so I could have waited before starting a series with no ending. I'm a little shocked and confused by it. The is a teenage magic love mystery.

TIP: If you don't want to listen to the boring descriptions of what animals mean to the author, skip the first 5 minutes and 17 seconds of both books!

It was good

It was good, but i didn't think the love interest was believable. It was still a very gripping story

Brilliant Book

Firstly I would like to say that I am not a "young adult" I am 33 years old. I loved this book.

You have to have read the first book Delirium, which is also very good.

The characters have depth, which is good as you feel you get to undertand them a bit. The story goes from 'Then' to 'Now' chapter to chapter which at first is frustrating but after a while works well.

Lana is a little frustrating as at times I find her dull and a bit stupid. I know the main character is only 18 but I find it hard to think of this book as a teen book as some of the issues and violence are very much adult themes. There is a lot of death in the book which fits in with the serious story line.

I was hooked to this audio and when it ended I was disappointed the next book is not yet released. The cliff hanger at the end was obvious to me, but maybe not to all, certainly made you want to know the next story.

Congratulations to Oliver on writing a dystopian novel that does not have a love triangle. Also, for writing a book that actually made sense to continue as a trilogy (or at least to a second book) and not dragging out the first story forever for the sake of making it into a trilogy/series. This is set in a world that sees love as a disease, at the age of 18 you get cured of the Deliria and you get to live your life content. Not necessarily happy, but content.I thought some very good points were brought up in this book. What is the absence of love? Hate or indifference, and which is worse. I also appreciated that she not only focused on romantic love but familial love, the love in friendship and the love of things and beings not human.So why three stars instead of four? The grammar in this book was not always what it should have been (e.g. "his eyes literally danced"). The narrator for the audiobook was irritating. And while a good book, it wasn't fantastic. However, it was intriguing and the ending was good so I will be listening to the sequel.

Amazing story!

I loved the performance and the structure of the story. I felt it was hard to relate to the characters at first because the idea of a world without love was so alien. As the story went on I felt myself becoming drawn in. I can't wait to hear more from this author!

This may well be teen fiction but I am 33 years old and loved this.

It took a bit of geting used to, a world without love where love is banned and religion and life has been re-written. I guess you do spend most of the book desperately wanting Lana to "see the light" so it can be frustrating at times, but the book is about her journey and as it's a trilogy the story is about her development and change.

It's a good idea for a story, and I like the change from the current endless Vampires, ghosts, witches, angels, fairies in books... It's a futuristic life story and a clever idea. It's very American as is the narration, but it's well worth a listen and certainly took the bore out of my comute.

Good story

Not the best, nor the worst. The story precept can be a little hard to follow but the characters are clear. It ends in a spot that leaves you wanting for the next In the series.

I love , love love this book. I have always been fascinated about time traveling. I'm also crazy about romance. This book is perfect for me because it has both in its story.

Totally like the audio book. I have enjoyed it immensely as it was well written. How the story turned out and telling us love is a something we need in life.

I like the twist of he was not able to come back in a control manner and she has to make a choice to live differently. That for one to learn that we need to love ourselves before we could love others.

Oh man, Ive had a copy of this book since July 2012! I petted the pretty cover and found it a pretty place in my bookshelvesthen I kind of just forgot about it. I have about 500 physical books (not including the ones on my kindle) and I guess I just dont have the best memory. Thank goodness for Amazon for letting me know you already purchased this book when I go buy a book I dont remember I have! I remembered about this book a few months ago when Sara was reading it and decided to get the audiobook for it since I liked the narrator. Time travel books are mostly hit or miss with me. I like the concept, but I dont like when the time travel rules and details get too technical because its harder for me to keep up.

Anna lives in Chicago in 1995. When she sees a guy watching her during one of her runs, shes weirded out when he kind of just disappears. Shes even more confused when he shows up at her school the next day and claims he was never at the track and has never even seen Anna. Naturally, Anna thinks Bennett is lying. Turns out, Bennett has the ability to travel through time and hes actually from San Franciso, in the year 2012. Hes in 1995 Chicago looking for his sister who he lost during on of their time tarvel trips. At first, Bennet keeps his distance from Anna (since hes planning on leaving as soon as he finds his sister) despite the chemistry and attraction between them. But then, a life and death moment forces Bennett to use his time travel abilities to save Anna. I loved the parts where Anna and Bennett visited different places! The descriptions of the places were vividly described that it was easy to picture it. This was one of my favorite parts of the story!

I usually don't listen to audiobooks too many times over but my husband and I both agreed that this book was made well.

What did you like best about this story?

I was very intrigued by the olden day ideas brought forth in this book, its set way back in time and gives a great backstory to the series.

What does Sile Bermingham bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

She truly brings out the scottish feel to the book, she does very well in her accent, as well as her emphasis on the correct parts of emotions.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Another Brave woman fights her way out of gender roles and joins the Knights of Conatus as one of their own.

Amazing Story

I absolutely love Cremer as an author. I have all of her Nightshade series and this audiobook. It's a shame that the other in the series won't be turned into an audiobook. I've relistened to this at least 4 times now. I absolutely love the way she writes and the majority of her character.

Immortal series

The three books were were capitivating from beginning to end. All told a different story but were still connected to the next. The author did a good job of letting you,the reader, see into the life of the boarding school but also through the magic of four girls who become sisters and friends for life.

Pushing the Boundaries of YA Fiction

It's been over a year since I read the first book in this trilogy (where did that time go?!). When I did my initial review, I remarked that the YA market is overcrowded with generic books dealing with mermaids (and vampires, and angels, and zombies...), and that anything that stood out would be genuinely welcome. With mermaids especially, it's almost like the subject matter leaves every writer and reader with more essence than substance. Such was the case with the first book, but... since then, the siren song started calling.

As with the first book, the lyrical writing style sets this one apart from others in its class. And just as in the first book, teenage angst is set aside in favor of real tragedy, hope, and actual story. If not for the fact the lead characters are teens, I'd believe this was more than a YA novel. Sarah Porter has tapped something dark and primal with this trilogy. The standard and expected tropes are there for the asking, but this story has pushed the boundaries of the mermaid concept about as far as anyone ever has, insofar as I'm aware. I'm pleased to say that whatever inspired me to pick up book 2 after all this time ensured that I won't wait nearly as long for book 3.

Unexpected -- Reels you in -- can't stop listening

You start off at the beach and the initial teen drama fools you into thinking that this is going to be a uninteresting thriller so superficial that you start to think about what else in your library; after all this is a 11 plus hour listen. Then bang, someone is dead, then alive and then another death. I wont say more this is not a spoiler since this all happens so rapidly that if you are not paying attention youll have to skip back in time.

One of the things I like about the way Norris structured the story is she opts for very short scenes. It makes the story move very fast and gives you many point to pause -- briefly because you want to get back to it. Pretty quickly you get sucked into the world of Janelle Tanner; before you know it, Norris has made you curious about the other characters, their relationships. Soon you are wondering when she is going to give you more backstory -- like Alex's mother for example.

Katie Schorr does an excellent job of narration in this first person point of view novel. Her voice is pleasant and melodic.

This is the first of a series. I recommend the first one enthusiastically. It will appeal to anyone who like a teen series. It does have a x-files feel at times, so if that is not your interest you may love it a little less. But I think it is well worth the read. A big thumbs up.

Roswell + Fringe = Unraveling

When I first started listening to this book it reminded me of a late 90's early 2000 teen TV show about a group of alien teenagers. The very premise, a girl who gets fatally wounded and then is miraculously healed by a boy who is obsessed with her, is exactly what happened in the very first episode of this TV show. The story took a different turn however, which I'm glad of, but then started to remind me of another TV show, Fringe. I don't want to say too much and give it away, but if you've seen Fringe and listen to this book you will totally see the connection.

I liked the book, don't get me wrong.
