  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil vs. Avocado Oil, What's the Difference?

Both are nutrient-rich oils, but they offer different health benefits. High-quality extra virgin olive oil is rich in polyphenols, powerful plant compounds associated with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Avocado oil, on the other hand, is rich in carotenoids such as lutein, an important nutrient for eye health.

Both oils can be part of a healthy diet and can be used for cooking. The best choice may depend on how you're using them, the quality of the oil, and the type of meal you're preparing.

For salads and lower-heat applications, extra virgin olive oil is a great choice. For higher-heat cooking, avocado oil can be a useful alternative.

Low iodine and too much iodine can both affect the thyroid in the same way. You may experience the same low thyroid symptoms, such as weight gain, fatigue, eyebrow thinning, hair loss, cold hands, and cold feet.

Many people have low iodine. If you’re not regularly consuming iodine-rich foods, you could be deficient. People on plant-based diets often have very low levels of iodine.

Iodine often goes under the radar, but its benefits extend beyond the thyroid. It supports cognitive function, helps break down estradiol, and regulates estrogen receptors. Iodine deficiency has been connected to fibrocystic breasts and often improves when you increase your iodine levels. Iodine also supports the health and function of the uterus and fallopian tubes.

Too much iodine can trigger autoimmune disease, so avoiding too much is just as important as getting enough.

How much iodine do you need? Most adults need around 150–300 mcg of iodine each day, 220 mcg during pregnancy, and 290 mcg while breastfeeding.

Some research suggests that nitric oxide is one of the most beneficial compounds in the body, while other research suggests it can be damaging to your mitochondria. What explains the conflicting data?

There are different systems of nitric oxide in the body, and failing to distinguish between them may explain some of the confusion.

Certain foods and exercise can help boost nitric oxide, while common lifestyle and dietary habits may unknowingly destroy it. Blood sugar spikes are one major factor, and even certain types of mouthwash can affect nitric oxide levels.

Toning the inner thighs starts with improving muscle function, not just weight loss. Fat can build up within the muscle itself, so the goal is to repair and strengthen the muscle so it can use fuel more efficiently.

To help improve the muscles in your legs and reduce cellulite:
    • Walk slowly downhill
    • Take the stairs
    • Walk as much as possible throughout the day
    • Walk for at least 5 minutes after meals
    • Prioritize good-quality sleep

Building and repairing muscle makes it easier to burn the fat around it. You may not see much change on the scale at first because the improvements are happening deeper inside the muscle cells before they become visible.
