When is good enough… actually good enough?

Most believers never ask that question honestly. And because of that, they spend their lives striving, questioning, and wondering if they’ve done enough to be accepted by God. In this episode, we dig into one of the most subtle but destructive beliefs in the body of Christ: the idea that our “goodness” determines our outcomes.

This is where the story of Job becomes incredibly important. For centuries, people have used Job to support the belief that even the righteous can be handed over to suffering as some kind of test from God. But when you really examine the story, you start to see something different. Most of what people quote from Job isn’t God speaking. It’s Job’s confusion and his friends’ wrong conclusions. And that raises a powerful question: If our understanding of “good enough” is based on the wrong voices, what does that mean for how we see God?

In this message, I challenge the idea that God measures you by performance and explore what Scripture actually reveals about His nature. Until you settle this issue in your heart, you’ll never fully trust God…and you’ll never experience the confidence that comes from faith-righteousness (Romans 4:5). This isn’t just theology. Why do bad things happen to good people? That’s one of the most honest questions we can ask. And in this series, we’re taking a fresh look at the book of Job.

Most people miss this: much of what we believe about Job comes from his complaints, not from God. For 38 chapters, Job speaks מתוך confusion and limited understanding. But when God finally speaks, everything changes, and it challenges many religious ideas we’ve accepted.

What if the reason your resolutions don’t last has nothing to do with discipline, willpower, or trying harder, but everything to do with what you believe about authority? Many believers have been taught that when Adam fell, man lost authority and the devil gained it. The problem is simple: the Bible never says that. Authority was never transferred to Satan. I also explain why authority is the right to choose and why you still have it. God gave man dominion on the earth, not over other people, but over creation and over himself. This is why Jesus came as the Son of Man and lived by the power of the Holy Spirit. Acts 10:38 shows us exactly how He lived, and that same Spirit works in us today.

Most people think resolutions fail because they lack discipline or motivation. The real reason is usually much deeper than that.

A resolution is actually a form of repentance. It’s simply changing your mind because you don’t want your life going in the same direction anymore.

One of the biggest reasons people quit is loss of confidence. Every time you start something and don’t finish it, you train yourself to expect failure. Eventually, it doesn’t matter how much you trust God. You won’t trust yourself enough to follow through.

I also address one of the most misunderstood ideas in Christianity: God’s sovereignty. God is not controlling everything. He created you in His likeness and image, which means He gave you real authority and real responsibility. Your life is not determined by fate, DNA, or circumstances. You were created to make choices and create outcomes with God.

This is week three of our January series, Resolutions That Work.

If you made resolutions this year and you’ve already broken them, or you’re close, you’re not alone. Most people don’t fail because they lack discipline. They fail because they don’t understand how faith actually works.

In this week’s CyberChurch message, The Faith of God, I take you into Mark 11 and the story of the fig tree to show you why real change often starts invisibly. When Jesus spoke, nothing seemed to change at first, but the change had already begun at the root. Words spoken from the heart carry power, and many people cancel their own faith by speaking doubt, fear, or old beliefs about themselves before anything has time to manifest.
