Music Hall
It is well established that Drew and Sam both thoroughly enjoy their work, and this week they are joined by a guest who quite clearly shares their feelings. Yes the Drewling Samantics chaps’ latest visitor is James Hall, an enormously talented young man who epitomises the phrase ‘follow your dreams’, as even as a child he knew deep down what he wanted to be and to do with his life. Starting out as a talented dancer and performer then making the jump to what is now his main discipline and passion, music, Uncle Jim-Jam (as he is known to Sam and a few others - tune in to find out why!) talks with energy and enthusiasm about his work as a musical director, composer and accompanist. But not content with being the best he can be, James also likes to share his knowledge and pass it on to those learning their craft, so spends a lot of his time teaching too, something else he obviously adores.
James is on a fascinating and positive journey in his career, and from achieving early childhood dreams to understanding how he wants to shape his future, it is easy to see that many more successes lie ahead for this already highly accomplished gent. So what are you waiting for?! Join Drew, Sam and James for this latest podcasting special event!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye
The weekend has arrived and once again we are rewarded with more industry musings from our boys at Drewling Samantics. This week’s episode sees Drew and Sam discussing the challenges of promoting new productions and upcoming work, and the equally important task of “selling” themselves. Following on from their wonderful guest last week, the brilliant Sam Quested, and his insights into producing, Drew and Sam share their experiences of promoting and advertising some of the shows they have been associated with. They also reveal their thoughts on the use of social media and the huge impact it has had on new work and showcasing actors as products.
Press launches, posters, hand bills, personal appearances and promotional stunts are just some of the methods employed in raising awareness for shows across all spheres of the industry, and now more than ever the performance world needs to attract audiences. So listen in as the dynamic duo get to grips with another fascinating facet of the business, and realise that in an increasingly competitive market, almost anything goes!

Re-Quested
Only last week the Drewling Samantics boys were talking about taking on different roles, and to reinforce how that isn’t necessarily something that uncommon in their industry, this week the chaps have another brilliant guest with them who certainly backs that idea up!
Sam Quested is general manager of DLAP - one of the country’s young and hungry production companies, and with awards sitting on their shelves, and multiple touring productions and West End shows currently running (not to mention the star studded concerts and other wonderful things they have in the pipeline), it is clear that Sam is part of a truly exciting and rapidly expanding company. Tune in to hear about a whole variety of subjects, like how they weathered the storm of the unwelcome guest and are now looking ahead, and how important it is putting the right team together for what the future has to offer. He also talks about his own journey, from amateur productions to the elite venues, and from directing to producing; there’s even a stint in the world of magic thrown in for good measure!
A side of the industry everyone knows exists, but is rarely explained, is opened up in this visit to Drewling Samantics HQ, so join Sam, Drew and Sam for the latest intriguing and entertaining episode of everyone’s favourite podcast.

The Spice of Life
Despite the title of this week’s episode suggesting the Drewling Samantics pair may have taken up cooking, in reality they are sticking to what they do best and discussing the joys of working in the entertainment world. And the recipe for today’s show does include a few top notch ingredients...
The main topic of deliberation is about approaching differing roles - the challenges faced when stepping out of one’s comfort zone, the associated risks involved, and equally the rewards when it proves to be a success. The chaps look at how it has defined the careers of a few actors that are synonymous with versatility, address their own reasons for pursuing variety, and also consider other reasons for anyone in the business “mixing it up”.
As is always the case when Drew and Sam get together, moments of serious thought are blended together with some philosophical pondering, mixed with a dash of laughter, and topped off with a sprinkling of gentle teasing. Fancy a taste of the latest Drewling Samantics offering? Then sit back, listen, and enjoy.

Heroes and Whodunnits
This week Drew and Sam are in the land of fantasy, as the Drewling Samantics HQ is visited (albeit virtually) by another talented creative – apocalyptic adventure, magical thriller, and detective mystery fiction writer and photographer, Andrew Dobell.
Andrew is a prolific author, particularly in the world of urban fantasy, with not only an extensive library of written novels but audio versions of his work too (some of which just so happen to be voiced by someone rather familiar...) Now we could be fooled into thinking the boys are joined on the show by two writers, but actually it’s just another side of the talented Mr Dobell as he also writes crime and detective fiction under the pen name of A L Fraine. And not just the mind behind the stories, Andrew is actually involved with all sides of his novels and designs, and shoots and edits the cover art too – something he does for other authors as well.
So join the chaps today for a fascinating conversation, not only for fantasy fans, but for anyone interested in the world of ‘indie’ publishing, and to get a “behind the scenes” insight of how actors and models help bring the written words to life.

It’s Not Always Plain Sailing
Drew and Sam return once again, and this week they’re treating us to an episode with a few twists and turns, a couple of surprises, and the aftermath of some serious miles travelled! Having had the pleasure of working together again in person (albeit for only one night), the boys had such a brilliant time that they seize the opportunity to share their adventures with us, in the form of more on-the-scene podcasting.
On top of that, and never ones to miss a tangent, the conversation for our dynamic duo shifts rapidly from being involved in great shows, to memories of those rare occasions when the work hasn’t been quite so enjoyable or rewarding. But far from an excuse to moan and whinge, the Drewling Samantics chaps jump at the chance to discuss the ins and outs of why sometimes a job doesn’t turn out to be quite as expected, and what can be learnt from those experiences. It’s another entertaining and insightful episode from our pair of actor extraodinaires, and one that everyone is sure to enjoy.

Hatching a Golden Idea
The fourth episode of this season is upon us, and the Drewling Samantics chaps are treating us lucky listeners to yet another superb guest! This week Drew and Sam are joined by the wonderful Georgia Harris, a brilliant young lady who is no stranger to one of the boys in particular...
Georgia is Drew’s cousin - but more importantly is a director, and the artistic director of the Golden Goose theatre, a new and award-winning theatre in Camberwell. Not only is she talented and ambitious, but Georgia has some innovative and game changing ideas for new writing and supporting female creatives, which are rightfully getting her plenty of attention and well deserved plaudits. Her energy and enthusiasm for her work and that of others is infectious and inspiring, and the story of the Golden Goose is especially encouraging - both the theatre and Georgia certainly have a shining future.
With a challenging and exciting program of plays planned for this summer there is every reason to get to the Golden Goose as soon as you can. But make sure you listen to this episode first of course!

Hocus Pocus, Blokes in Focus
Another eventful week has passed for the gents of Drewling Samantics, with both Drew and Sam having spent time out and about. The shorter half of our dynamic duo attended a premiere of his latest film at a rather grand and secretive location - and that’s secretive in more ways than one; while the lankier member of the team spent a very creative weekend at a photographic workshop run by previous podcast visitor. All this may seem quite cryptic, but never fear as the truth will be exposed (and don’t worry, that’s all the exposure there will be, that reference is in no way connected to the aforementioned photo-shoot!)
Reporting back on their outings, whilst being fun, proves to also be quite thought provoking, and in turn initiates some in depth discussion regarding dealing with rejection and the consequential lower points in their careers – something that is sadly rather familiar to almost all actors and creatives. The mood isn’t all doom and gloom though, and of course the serious chat is brightened by the usual silliness, some obligatory mickey-taking, and even a podcasting staple masquerading as a dessert! Well if that doesn’t make you intrigued enough to tune in, then quite simply nothing will!

Perfectly Opinionated
Drewling Samantics has already reached its second episode of Season Five, and with that comes the first guest to be welcomed by the boys. Maintaining their promise to bring industry experts from many disciplines, this week Drew and Sam are joined by the wonderful Gemma Fincher - a theatre reviewer and the founder of Dress Circle Antics, a fantastic website full of reviews, interviews and information that is invaluable to anyone who loves theatre.
Regardless of your position in the industry – be that performer, creative or audience member, reviewers and critics provoke much discussion and opinion that is always informative, sometimes controversial, and always a necessary evil. And, whether you agree with them or not, their work will always garner a response.
Gemma clearly takes what she does very seriously while still maintaining her love for all things theatre, and as a result is much respected among other reviewers and performers alike. During this chat she lifts the lid on the world of reviewing and, however you might feel about reviewers, there is no escaping the talent Gemma has, or the respect she shows for the industry and those who are involved in it. So join the Drewling Samantics chaps now for a very informed, honest and enlightening conversation with their latest visitor!

Feeling Firsty
Drewling Samantics is back! Season Five has arrived and Drew and Sam are incredibly excited for what is to come over the next few months.
But, before launching headlong into the new season proper, the boys take the opportunity to look at what exactly the future does hold, and with the promise of more recordings from “on the road” at events, outings and shows, and of course the usual top selection of visiting artists and industry experts, it certainly sounds like we’re in for a treat in Season Five.
On top of that, our hosts discuss how Drewling Samantics fans have even more opportunity to be involved this season, and how they are sharing “creative control”, so this could be the moment you’ve been waiting for! Add in a little bit of tidying up of loose ends from Season Four and this really is a great opening episode for both long-time listeners and newcomers alike.
So join Drew and Sam for another season, and then remember to go back and catch up with any episodes you may have missed or simply haven’t had the chance to experience yet. Watch out World - Drewling Samantics is back!

Drew and Sam are actors. They haven’t won any Academy Awards yet, and neither of them is in line to be the new James Bond (sorry Sam), but between them they do have over half a century’s worth of…
