On this edition of Century: Oregon Considers Adopting Ryan\'s Law. On
January 23, HR 6938, the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water
Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026,
was signed into law. The medical marijuana rider that prevents the DOJ
from going after state-legal medical marijuana programs and businesses
failed to include Nebraska in the list of states to which that
protection is extended. We hear about the potential impact of this and
plans for the future from Founder and Executive Director of Americans
for Safe Access, Steph Sherer; the Executive Director of Nebraskans
for Medical Marijuana, Crista Eggers; and parent and medical cannabis
advocate Dominic Gillen. Plus, the Oregon Legislature is considering
improvements to the state\'s medical marijuana program. House Bill
4142, Oregon\'s \"Ryan\'s Law,\" was approved by the House Committee on
Health Care on February 12. We hear testimony from the Committee\'s
February 10 public hearing on that measure including from the bill\'s
lead sponsor, OR State Rep. Farrah Chaichi, Compassionate Oregon\'s
Anthony Taylor, and Jim Bartell, father of Ryan Bartell, for whom
Ryan\'s Law is named.
