In this week's episode, the crew welcomes eL Seed to hang out with them by the Dukkan, who is globally recognized for his unique form of street art known as Calligraffiti, which simply stated is a combination of Arabic calligraphy and graffiti. The crew got to hang out with him and discuss his latest passion project in Zaraeeb, Egypt, entitled Perception, which has gained global recognition and traction. In this episode, the crew got to experience something that most people don't, which is the beauty and depth in the stories of painting walls as well as the stories of humanity and love. Pull up a seat and pass the time. From Dubai to the world. ---- DUKKAN LINKS: www.dukkanshow.com Facebook | Instagram | Twitter ---- The Hosts: OT: Instagram | Twitter Irshad: Instagram | Twitter Toofless: SoundCloud Reem: Instagram | Twitter   ----   About eL Seed: If you don't recognize the name, then you definitely will recognize his art; as Sultan Al Qassemi stated in his Medium article "his monumental canvases are instantly recognizable and can be seen in cities across the world." eL Seed’s intricate calligraphic compositions call not only on the words and their meaning but also on their movement, which ultimately lures the viewer into a different state of mind. Working primarily with subjects that seem contradictory, eL Seed’s art reflects the reality of mankind and the world we live in today. eL Seed installed his work on public spaces, galleries and institutions on every continent. From the streets of Paris or New York, to the Favelas of Rio Di Janeiro or the slums of Cape Town, his contemporary approach aims to bring people, culture and generations together. eL Seed’s art has been shown on the walls of many cities around the world including Paris, New York, London or Melbourne, in addition to his home country Tunisia. In 2013, Condé Nast Traveler  recognized  him as one of the  years ‘visionaries’ for advocating peaceful expression and social progress through his work. And proving that street art can collide with luxury to fashionable effect, in 2013 eL Seed collaborated with the international luxury maison of Louis Vuitton, where he created a unique calligraphy design for the classic monogram scarf, as part of the Foulards d’Artiste project. In March 2014, eL Seed has launched his first book, Lost Walls, documenting his calligraffiti journey across Tunisia.   Website | Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | Ted TalkSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this week's episode, OT goes to a different kind of dukkan, where he met up with one of the owners, Abdulrazak. They dove into conversations about the business and the sense of nostalgia of growing up in the UAE. This dukkan is a different kind of spot, it's where people enjoy that perfect cup of karak tea with cheese parathas in the morning. For those that grew up in the GCC as a whole and not just the UAE, going to a karak spot or the dukkan, is a planned activity and keyword for 'hangout.' It's where the most interesting and deep conversations come to life. Pull up a seat and pass the time. In this week's episode the guys kicked it with Shadi Megallaa by the Dukkan. Shadi is someone they've seen around but never officially met. Recently they bumped into each other again, but this time on a What's On Magazine article. And as it turns out the brother has a podcast as well! Shadi is the host of the Shady Shadow Show (a music mix show that is recorded in his house as friends come over and hang out), resident DJ at Analog Room, and he owns his own label called Ark to Ashes. Not only that, Shadi will be opening a dedicated record store called The Flip Side in Dubai very very soon.  The guys talked about his progression from a young kid growing up in Abu Dhabi to the recognized name that he is today, discussing the birth of his DJ career, his current state of preserving his child-like creative spirit in order to express it through art, and the culture that he loves.
