What’s up fellow Dynasty Owners? I hope all your playoff matchups went better than mine as I will not be winning a League Championship this year despite having two absolutely loaded rosters. I am not going to waste anytime this week, let’s get right into Jay’s weekly recap.
Week 15 in the NFL was extremely crazy, and it was headlined by the Detroit Lions beating the Arizona Cardinals and opening the NFC West back up for grabs. The Browns almost pulled one out without their top two quarterbacks and my main takeaway from the game is Baker Mayfield should be doing so much more with this roster around him. The Chiefs and the Chargers battled it out in an epic overtime thriller with the Chiefs coming out on top and sweeping the Chargers, which gives them a crucial head-to-head tiebreaker if needed. The Colts stunned the surging Patriots, and, in my opinion, Jonathan Taylor should be the front runner for MVP right now. The Bills took advantage of the Patriots loss beating the Panthers and now have a chance at redemption against the Patriots this week. The Ravens may have found a long-term backup in Tyler Huntley who almost led the Ravens to victory over the Number 1 seed in the NFC, the Green Bay Packers. The Saints seem to be some type of kryptonite to Tom Brady as they pulled out another improbable victory against the 44-year-old G.O.A.T. The last game I have on the list is none other than my Steelers keeping their playoff dreams alive beating the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Good luck this week everyone! Now on to the free agents!

Either the AFC or NFC is the tougher conference in the NFL depending on how you look at it. If it what teams are making the playoffs, then the AFC looks like the tougher conference as there are three teams with winning records (Cleveland, Cincinnati and Denver) plus Pittsburgh at .500 (6-6-1 record) who wouldn’t make the playoffs if they started this week. However, through the start of Week 14, none of the teams in the AFC had 10 victories with the 9-4 New England Patriots sitting on top. If having the better teams is what you think makes a league tough, then you probably think the NFC is tougher. There are three 10 win teams (Green Bay, Tampa Bay and Arizona) plus Dallas and the Los Angeles Rams with 9 wins. However, the #7 team in the NFC and final playoff seed is the Washington Football Team who have a 6-7 record.
The same can be applied to Dynasty Owner. Which league is tougher? The one in which a 10-4 team that has scored well over 2,200 Dynasty Owner fantasy points and is on the Chase for the Ring leaderboard, but has to play in the first round of the playoffs. Is it the league with three 10-4 teams, two 9-5 teams and an 8-6 team in the playoffs? Maybe it’s the league in which all six playoff teams are separated by less than 66.0 Dynasty Owner fantasy points. Our final contender is a league in which the #5 seed in the playoffs got in by winning in Week 14 to go 7-7, but who ranks in the Top 200 in the Chase for the Ring and has two other teams in the league with more points.

The Dynasty Owner trade freeze is almost here. In fact, it’s already here if you wanted to trade for someone on the Vikings or Steelers, like Chase Claypool because you’re Jay Pounds and a huge fan of his first down celebrations. Jay is a huge Steelers fan and tried to trade with me for Claypool in a league, but I’m not sure about his position on Claypool’s first down celebrations. Because both teams played last night, any trades involving a Vikings or Steelers players agreed to now, later on this week, next week, etc., won’t take effect until the Tuesday after the Week 17 games are over (January 4th). The trade freeze on all of the players on the other 30 NFL teams starts on Sunday at 1 PM (Eastern). Don’t forget that trades need to be accepted 24 hours before they are processed so the real deadline for accepting trades is basically Noon (Eastern) on Saturday.

Welcome Dynasty Owners. The time has almost come. After all the off-season debate and work that has gone into building your team, we are one week away from the Dynasty Owner playoffs. Whether you play in a Love Of The Game league or a $1,200 prize pool league, all of our 2021 journeys will be coming to an end soon. Given that this is the final week of the regular season for Dynasty Owner, I will conclude my regular season articles with the second part of my League Winners. Dynasty Owners, it is the time of year we have all been looking forward to. It’s playoff time! This will be the last week of the Free Agent Auction for the Dynasty Owner regular season. If you played last season, you would likely remember the freeze we had on all transactions during the playoffs. There is no freeze on picking up free agents this year. Only the ability to trade will be locked during the playoffs. If you are planning to execute a trade before the playoffs, make sure it is accepted 24 hours prior to the player’s game starting or it will not process until the off-season starts. For instance, if you want to trade for a Steelers or Vikings player, you will need to agree to the trade by Wednesday at 7 pm EST for everything to process in time for this season. For NFL players, I assume that getting a bye isn’t a bad thing. I don’t really know since I’m not a NFL player, but if I was one, I’d like it. It’s a week of rest during a long season of 17 regular season games, 3 pre-season games, and before those, several weeks of training camp and organized team practice activities (OTAs). In the playoffs, a bye week is an additional week of rest before a tough 3-game stretch (hopefully) of playoff games. Only one team per conference gets a playoff bye week now as well as home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
