Earn Your Hunt

In this one I start out ranting a bit about my anticipation of the hunt and a sketchy customer of mine that made my last few days in town “interesting” 😂.. Then my buddy Ryan Routier and our guide, Denis Zadra of Lonesom Dove outfitters do a hunt recap and BS session from the boat after packing out. Pretty fun hunt plagued a bit by weather, but we definitely got the full Alaskan experience! Now it’s on to sheep camp!

Fitting title! 😂 In this episode I randomly recorded each day I was out, from scouting to success. The cow I shot decided to move just as I release the arrow and I ended up in what I like to call a “shit show.” I discuss the work it takes to recover an animal after a not so ideal shot and ramble about the ups and downs within a hunt. Then to close it out I am joined by a very special guest, my daughter Alexa was helping me pull cameras and blinds down. We discuss our hunting plans for the year, You’re not gonna want to miss this one folks, she turns down most other podcasts but was gracious enough to join me for a few minutes at the end! 😂

Do I think I EARNED this season? Easy answer is, “probably not” 😂… In this incoherent episode I was a little sleep deprived and all jacked up on peanut butter bars…😆 I rant a little about work and then go over my upcoming hunting season, which looks to be the craziest schedule I’ve ever had… and that’s saying something…

In this episode I give a quick recap of the Western Extreme shoot, with a couple funny stories and maybe a bit of a rant. Then I transition to talking about my bow setup and why I shoot what I do. I’ve had a few people asking about the new carbon limbs and the Shikari so I figured I’d just explain my thoughts on it. Enjoy

In this episode I do what I do best, talk about things I’m not “qualified” to talk about. I go over my business, how I started it, how I built it around hunting, and give you my “secret” to spending more time in the field while running a successful business. I throw in a couple hunting stories that pertain to the subject and as always, miss pronounce a few words and say a few things I probably shouldn’t. This episode is for the small percentage of guys out there that shoot with “shitty” form and do it successfully but mind “F” themselves into thinking that it’s wrong because the internet says so. This is not a cop out for guys that suck 😂 I definitely don’t want anyone to think I’m against coaching or what’s considered good form this day and age. If you need help call a coach, don’t lie to yourself. BUT! IF IT AIN’T BROKE DON’T FIX IT! See what I did there 👈🏻 worked the title in 😂 I’m getting good at this 🤦‍♂️

This episode gets a little ranty and rambley 😂 I’m pretty sure I was malnourished from forgetting to eat all day… which is weird because I am discussing my fitness and nutrition leading into my upcoming sheep hunt and fall season… over the past 3 1/2 months I have lost 35 lbs and found some new ways to stay on track that hopefully will transfer once the September “grind” is over and “whitetail fit” season begins. As always, you may not learn a ton from this one but you may get a laugh out of my ignorance with the subject 😂 and if nothing else it should push you to say, “ if that idiot can do it, then I should be able to lose 50!” #mowitdown!

Even though I said I wouldn’t have many guests on the podcast, I felt compelled to have my wife on for the second episode because I think it’s crucial people know that it’s not just my hard work that “earns” these hunts. I couldn’t do what I do without her and I’ve been asked a lot about how we make such a hectic schedule work, so I figured it was best you heard her side. Join us as we talk a little about our recent bow fishing getaway and then we dive into our thoughts on how we keep the magic flowing 😂
