This week we sit down with award winning photographer Shannon Taggart, author of the monograph SÉANCE. We'll dive into Spiritualism and explore the practices that date back to the Fox Sisters. We'll get into spoon bending, the validity of orbs and the ever-controversial capture of ectoplasm. At the center of it all is the community of Lily Dale, a spiritualism hub in upstate New York. Join us as we navigate the fascinating world of Spiritualism and the devoted community behind it. Happy Haunting!

Things get pretty dark in our latest episode, so make sure you have your wine handy. Elise takes us to Denmark to learn about the devastating murder of journalist Kim Wall, who went missing after boarding Peter Madsen's homemade submarine. It's as crazy as it sounds and a tragedy for all. Wall was a remarkable storyteller with a passion for travel, while Madsen was an egocentric inventor who said he one day "hoped to have a criminal career." He achieved his goal when Wall went missing on August 10, 2017. We'll discuss the details of the case, the lengths Denmark's homicide team went to for justice and the legacy Kim leaves behind. At the close, Halee treats us to delicious blueberry muffins. Happy Haunting!

It's time for another Spooky Hour, folks! On the last night of 2021, it's a great time to get into our favorite conspiracy theories. A mixture of spooky and silly, we'll cover all kinds of weird shit. Are Jonbenet Ramsey and Katy Perry actually the same person? Is the Denver International Airport controlled by the New World Order? Was the movie Frozen actually released as a giant coverup? And what about the Mandela Effect? Who really believes it was Berenstain and not Berenstein? It all points to a giant glitch in the matrix, and we all know that's not a conspiracy. Grab your champagne, and join us in raising a glass to another year of spooky shit and yummy treats. It's almost 2022, ya'll! Happy Haunting!

We can't believe it's almost Christmas, so in the spirit of the season, we've decided to scare the hell out of you (or into you!) This week, Elise takes us past the peaks of the jagged Eastern Alps and into valleys full of tradition and intrigue. We'll dig deep into the history of Krampus and his band of spooky specters, all while St. Nicholas and his weeping bones stand by to make sure we're being nice, not naughty. For the latter, Krampus is ready with his whips and chains to drag us straight to hell, where all bad children go. Krampus isn't the only ghoul around on Christmas - we'll uncover the Perchten, Bloody Thomas, Wild Barbaras and even Werewolves. In the spirit of tradition, we'll imbibe with pink festive drinks from Elise's past and enjoy a delicious chocolate chip cookie dough cake straight from our Easy Bake Oven. If you're searching for the spooky side of this cheerful holiday, this is the episode for you. Happy Haunting!

Lizzie Borden took an axe.... you know how the old nursery rhyme goes! This week we delve into the true crime genre and explore the story of Lizzie Borden and the Borden family murders. It was a sweltering hot August in Massachusetts, and tensions were high. This culminated in the brutal killings of Andrew and Abby Borden in 1892. Both were struck repeatedly in the head with an axe, a rage-filled crime which remains unsolved to this day. We take a look at the list of suspects and ask the tough questions, like how on earth did people live without indoor plumbing? Tune in to hear what we think happened all those years ago, and who we think was responsible for the murders.  As always, we'll cover spooky and unusual current events including birds falling from the sky and a woman getting weird with a hairless cat on an airplane. Fresh from the Easy Bake Oven, we'll enjoy adorable peanut butter cookie cauldrons with chocolate buttercream frosting. Bake along with us and join us on our hunt for the truth about the Borden family murders! Happy haunting!

Many Gold Rush towns are full of history, trauma and plenty of great ghost stories, but perhaps the most notorious of these is Skagway, Alaska. In a time when gunslingers and outlaws made the rules, Skagway's streets were flooded with "women of negotiable affection" and the brothels that housed them.  The most desirable was the Red Onion Saloon. Today, the Saloon welcomes visitors from all over the world, providing drinks, food and tours of the upstairs brothel museum. Elise and Halee chat with museum curator Cori Giacomazzi about her ghostly encounters from within the brothel's walls, and hear spine-tinging details about a ghost who won't be named. We'll hear about Elise's summer spent as a tour guide and learn how the brothel's most notorious ghost Lydia perished. This week's episode is full of ghostly goodness, and we highly recommend you listen in the dark - if you dare. Happy Haunting!

It's the day after Thanksgiving. We're all tired, full and emotionally unavailable from all of yesterday's table talk, making it the perfect time to cuddle up with your new favorite podcast for Spooky Hour!  We suggest opening up a bottle of Kim Crawford, grabbing a piece of leftover pie and lighting some candles while we entertain you with the best spooky stories Reddit has to offer. We'll chat about what happens when you die, gasp at creepy premonitions and cringe over nasty Uber drivers giving off major stalker vibes. Don't be afraid to listen in the dark, but watch out for owls and baby-snatching witches. Happy Haunting!

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a UFO! Halee takes us through some uncharted EBC territory as we navigate our very first alien episode. We'll learn about three different aerial abductions and unpack what we think may have happened. Listen to us read a real transcript between Pilot Frederick Valentich and air traffic control as he describes a large aircraft flanking him before his plane disappears forever. We'll talk about government cover ups, X-files episodes, and even the sale of a refrigerator from Elise's bathroom. This episode is full of surprises and ends with some deliciously sweet pretzels baked in our dear little oven. Happy Haunting!

We're going back to the 1850s, when America was full of the unexplainable, and people ate that shit up. Spiritualism was on the rise, technology was evolving, and at the heart of it all, William Mumler was capturing ghosts in photographs. Elise takes us through his Boston-based studio, where he photographed the likes of grieving widows, forlorn spouses and even First Lady Mary Todd Lincoln. Magically, he successfully captured their beloved lost loves, too. With the Civil War raging, grieving families were more desperate than ever for closure, but not all were convinced.  He drew skepticism from prominent photographers, who toured his studio in the hopes of debunking his process. He was even tried in New York City for defrauding the American people.  A swindler or successful medium? You decide. At the close, Halee treats us to a delicious trio of Easy Bake Oven cookies, stuffed with buttercream and fancy sprinkles. Happy Haunting!
