Though the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM–5) is clear in classifying eating disorders, clinicians understand it is rare to be presented with a straightforward case. Patients present with comorbidities and family circumstances that muddy the clinical picture and the treatment plan.
