  • 037 : Jeff Howard - Not Acting as a Seller anymore, he has made it and hit the Big Time!

Jeff is an Actor at heart, but a strong seller by day. He has been able to finally (his words) find a way to support his dreams without risking the bank, how he can pursue his true calling; Acting, while being the great husband and father he is. This is a raw interview where an open honest man shows his true feelings. Jeff is vulnerable, emotional and undeniably real, tough for a man but we will all be better for his honesty and candor. Jeff is a Haunt Actor (Now we know what they are called) currently but is still using his Amazon business to keep his passion alive. A true lifestyle entrepreneur!

  • 036 : Mike & Britni Ross – Marriage meets business Head On but always in a respectful and healthy way
This was a new type of interview for me: Remote location at a conference, sitting across from the interviewee(s) where they could see my reaction and I could see theirs and more than one person. Whew! Thank goodness I picked the right couple, they made it easy. Make no mistake about it, they each would be successful in this business, no doubt in my mind, however they would go about it in different ways. Michael would be all over the place, trying everything (successfully though for sure), whereas Britni would plan every step and methodically grow successfully. That is what makes them such a powerful force, they add-on to each others skills and fill-in any shortfalls (small as they would be). I loved the respect they had for each other, they do not always agree, but they have established boundaries and know how to compromise. This is the podcast that everyone currently working with their significant other or thinking about it will get the most from. This will help you stay together, you will realize you are not so different, just maybe the way you handle things are. All can be fixed when you work together!

Mike & Britni mentioned: Barrington McIntosh (Expert at exporting), Your Sourced Inventory, Your Sourced Inventory Free Facebook Group,

    Quotables:

"Sometimes we have to walk away from a disagreement, we keep the business discussion professional always, but a cooling off period helps"

"Before you blame everyone else, look inward to see what you could done wrong or what could you have done differently"

    Golden Nuggets:

Getting out of the house, going to a conference has helped balance the days that our business feels like a job. Opening up to others face-to-face has taken our relationships we developed on Facebook to the next level, I feel like I can reach out to them comfortably.

Always be aware of your emotional state when approaching your partner especially dealing with a potentially difficult issue!

  • 035 : Brenden Sullivan – PrimeZeroPrep – Focusing on Service Levels and Current Customers before they Expand, Again!
Brenden and PrimeZeroPrep have exploded into the FBA world with incredible growth and quick success. He walks us through their process (He credits his partners skillset!), how they have focused on improving every step of the way and how they will not grow until they have mastered every step in their business. Being from New Hampshire, a sales tax free state, they can help make it easier to do Online Arbitrage by avoiding that hassle. While there is a large waiting list, you can get on it as they do plan on adding another group early next year. I suggest asking around to find out why others are using (and not leaving) PrimeZeroPrep. What I really liked about this interview was the respect they showed to John Bullard of Myinventoryteam (He called him the Godfather of Prep services) and the admiration of his success, that's how a business does well, understanding and respecting those who walked the hard road before them!

Brenden mentioned: PrimeZeroPrep, PrimeZeroPrep Facebook Group, Shark Tank TV Show, The Profit TV Show,

    Quotables:

"The fact that a group of Prep centers have popped up, shows the need for these services, we want to be the "Go-to center" when you are ready for a service"

"We have seen sellers that order smaller quantities, more frequently, have better success versus the sellers placing one large order with certain retailers and not seeing the orders get cancelled"

"We are all about Aces in their Places, we expect our staff to be good at their job!"

    Golden Nuggets:

Separate your exception items (those that need special attention ie.. label removal, bagging, etc..) and process the rest as fast as you can, then go back and deal with the exceptions.

Use a mix of both UPS freight and LTL to get the best rates for inbound shipping!

His early start selling on Ebay at a large scale and then being one of the early Amazon FBA users has given him the confidence and skills necessary to expand into the Prep and Ship business on a large level. When you have a conversation with John, you quickly realize he knows his stuff and is very passionate about the quality of service that he gives his customers, they are family to him. If you are looking to expand beyond Amazon onto your own website, Ebay, Etsy, Rakuten, or Amazon overseas, then John and his team might be the right group to help you achieve your goals. • 033 : Randy Reynolds – Using a Portfolio approach to find the Optimal Inventory Mix and refocus his successful business

Randy's education and experience have prepared him well for selling on FBA. His portfolio approach to managing inventory mix, his precise tracking, his investment strategy and his understanding of repricing are deeper than most other sellers I have spoken to. His focused, driven and most importantly calculated approach to process improvement are all lessons we can learn and Randy shares many of them for you to benefit from.

Randy mentioned: Online Sellers Academy, The List

    Quotables:

"Look at your inventory as a portfolio and find the right mix"

"Don't quit your day job until it costs you money to go to work"

"A repricer costs you a lot less than not having a repricer at all!"

"You have to let go of something, because you can't do it all!"

    Golden Nuggets:

Your time is your most valuable asset, pay someone when they can save you time.

Take a retreat each year to look back at your business and see what you can add, subtract and improve.

  • 032 : Duane Malek – Retail Arbitrage evolves to Wholesale evolves back to Retail Arbitrage Group Style
Duane is a solid consistent seller and takes a disciplined approach to Entrepreneurship. His technical background along with a strong math understanding has allowed his business to grow consistently. What I really like about Duane is his restructuring (several times) and his willingness to openly talk about it. I think most people would not want to share what did not work for them,  whereas Duane is not afraid to let you know, he tried it and it either did not work or he more importantly he did not like it. Refreshing to hear and we all can benefit from his experiences.

Duane mentioned: Scanpower, Brett Bartlett - Online Empire Academy, Duane's coaching program, , , , , Duane's Facebook

    Quotables:

"Try everything, find out where your fit is"

"I only play around (try new things) with 10-20% of my cash at any given time, the rest is invested in known and tested inventory"

    Golden Nuggets:

Model those who are successful! Talk to them and find out how they did and follow their advice!
