Today I speak with Seema Mishra, Founder & Principal at Education Management Consultants (EdMC). I've met Seema on a number of occasions and I find her to be super articulate, delightfully smart and deeply grounded in what it means to be a good human. Well educated at LSE where she completed her MSc in culture and society, and with a firm grounding from the University of Chicago where she completed her undergrad. work in South Asian studies, Seema set out to address inequality and build a better society even from the tender age of 11 years old. 

Seema has held senior roles at Laureate Education, at Northeastern University and at Entangled Solutions (now Guild Education) before setting off to start her own adventure with EdMC. I'll let our conversation fill in the blanks in my introduction, but I will say that Seema is a big picture thinker, she is extraordinarily thoughtful and reasoned, and she has many commendable characteristics that give her an authoritative voice - one well worth listening to.

Today I speak with Melissa Loble. Melissa is the Chief Customer Experience Officer at Instructure, the makers of Canvas. We discuss how Melissa landed up working in Higher Education and what is currently occupying her mind as the sector level sets to a new normal.

She has enjoyed an impressive career, starting as an educator, in the late 90's Melissa assumed the role as the Director of Educational Technology at New York University - Stern, then held a couple of roles at Pepperdine University where she finished her tenure as an Adjunct Professor in Educational Technology. She then went on to hold senior roles with Blackboard and UC Irvine before heading over to Instructure.

Melissa holds a BA in Political Science & History from UCLA, an MA in Educational Policy from Columbia University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Today I speak with my friend Marybeth Gasman. Marybeth is the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Endowed Chair in Education & Distinguished Professor at Rutgers University. Prior to that she spent just shy of 18 years at UPenn where she concluded her service to the University as the Judy & Howard Berkowitz Professor of Education.

Marybeth holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from St Norbert College and an MS and PHD in Higher Education from Indiana University Bloomington.

I met Marybeth for the first time in 2019 when she volunteered to support me with building CONNECTed's EdTech & Strategy for Higher Education micromasters and what immediately struck me me was how down to earth and fun she was for such an accomplished academic ... not that academics aren't generally fun. Deeply empathetic, sincere and forthright, Marybeth has an incredible ability to navigate through prickly and sensitive topics with wisdom, respect and love. She is a devoted mother, a tenacious researcher and a diligent worker who is committed to action to see that the plight of underserved and marginalised communities are substantively improved.
