This week, we take you to Alexandria, Egypt's second city and once considered the jewel of the Mediterranean. A large port city, it was home to a diverse blend of locals and foreign nationals and became the birthplace of Arab cinema. But after several consecutive autocratic regimes and the Arab Spring uprising, the city has lost some of its lustre. So what's left of the once-great city? Our reporters went to meet its inhabitants and artists. But first, we focus on Donald Trump's contentious executive order. Dubbed the Muslim Ban, it temporarily halts the entire US refugee programme and refuses entry to people from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen for at least 90 days. The decree has set off massive protests across the United States, as well as drawing condemnation from several of the targeted nations. Alexander Hurst tells us more.

Finally, as the World Bank releases a new report entitled "Governance and the Law", we're joined on set by the organisation's chief economist for the Middle East and North Africa Region, Shanta Devarajan. We ask him how better governance and more effective policies can support the Middle East, as the region faces the most dire challenges, including the worst refugee crisis since World War II.
