    On this show we hear a live in-studio set from Run With It as they prepare to release their new EP, "How To Start A Fire" on March 24 at recordBar. Also on that bill, the talented Crystal Rose Music, with her great song, "Come Alive". After that, it's on to acts with upcoming gigs. They’re not from KC, but will be at The Tank Room on Wed, March 1, all the way from Australia, Middle Kids. Also, new music from Loogey, who will be at The Riot Room on Friday March 3. Then, music from The Uncouth’s 2016 EP, they’re at Daveys on Friday, March 3.  Valley Hush, will also be featured as they’re part of The Record Machine’s monthly series, The Sound Machine at recordBar on Friday, March 10. Then, a brand new and very heartfelt song from Lennon Bone (formerly of Ha Ha Tonka) that was released last week.

  • Momma's Boy
    The band, Momma's Boy joins us in the studio to preview their brand new EP, "Liquid Courage". Their KC release show is Saturday at The Tank Room. We also wrap up our conversation on the Folk Alliance International conference and hear music from Egypt’s Ramy Essam / EKS. Also, music from a few bands with upcoming gigs: sMallWaves at Knuckleheads Saloon on Wednesday, Myco at Davey's Uptown Rambler's Club on Thursday, Shiner at recordBar on Friday, and we hear from a new KC singer-songwriter, Chloe Jacobson, she’s at Ollie's Local on March 11.

    From 5 a.m.- 6 p.m. radio programming on The Bridge celebrated Valentine’s Day and played songs about LOVE. On the EIGHT ONE SIXTY at 6 p.m. we followed suit, playing songs from KC bands and a couple touring bands of interest. Hear songs about love, lost love, happy love, broken love, so much love. We dive into the vault and play some old stuff by some bands that don’t exist anymore as well as music from some of our favorite albums of the last few years. Songs from Erik Voeks, The Grisly Hand, Amy Marcus, Bears and Company, The Appleseed Cast, The Anniversary, Cowboy Indian Bear, The Japanese House and more.

There is also brand new music from Scout Alexandria, who is playing a Planned Parenthood fundraiser on February 12 and EBONY TUSKS, they're playing a fundraiser for The Sexual Trauma & Abuse Care Center.   • Kansas City Folk Fest at Folk Alliance International
    We’re doing a deep dive preview on the one day, Kansas City Folk Festival which takes place in KC on Sunday, February 19 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. at the The Westin Kansas City at Crown Center. This event is a great way for you to take advantage of the amazing annual Folk Alliance International Conference that’s happening again this year in KC. The one-day, family-friendly fest takes place in ballrooms throughout the hotel and features 25+ acts from all around the world. We talk about and play music from 11 of those acts: Billy Bragg, Steve Poltz, The Okee Dokee Brothers, Lula Wiles, Making Movies, Eems, The Center State, Rachel Laven, Sky Smeed, Brandon Draper and Orlagh De Bhaldraithe.

  • The Blackbird Revue 2
    To kick things off, it's a bit from Radiohead and then two brand new songs, one from The Invisible World (catch them on Saturday at The Tank Room) and another from Chris Meck and The Guilty Birds (catch them on January 27 at recordBar) - BOTH songs were finished and mastered YESTERDAY and both reflect the views of a huge amount of people as we enter a new political time in the U.S.
    If you like what you hear from The Invisible World head to their Facebook page, you can download the song and make a donation and they're giving ALL the money to Midwest Music Foundation and Planned Parenthood. If you like what you hear from Chris Meck and the Guilty Birds the song and video launch on Friday at bridge909.org. 
    Then, we are treated to a live in-studio set from The Blackbird Revue (their second time live on the show...a first in Eight One Sixty history). They’re moving to LA and have a farewell show this Thursday night at recordBar that we are sure will be filled with friends and surprises. We also talk about a couple events going on this Friday: a fundraiser for Rose Brooks Center at Mills Record Company with Katy Guillen and The Girls and others, as well as Musicians For Active Justice : GET LOUD! at recordBar featuring THE ARCHITECTS, Emmaline Twist and others. Also, we talk about the great Michael Byars and his upcoming birthday bash Friday, January 27 at miniBar featuring Abandoned Bells and we’ll hear music from one of my favorite KC jazz musicians, Mark Lowrey who now hosts an open jam every Tuesday night at The Phoenix.

    This time on the show it's a lot of talk about two events coming up this weekend. The Record Machine presents SoundMachine at recordBar on Saturday night - Alex and Ervay from TRM will join us in studio. There will also be music from Lincoln Marshall with Dominique S., Illphonics, AZP and Smitty the Kid. Then, this Saturday night down in Lawrence, a group of amazing friends and musicians will gather to play a fundraiser for Dagan (son of Megan Hanna) called #daganisrad. We hear music from The Sluts and from Matt Pryor’s catalog. Also, hear some brand new hip-hop from Stik Figa (new album out on 01-27), a socially charged song from Royce Sauce Handy that features Les Izmore and Craig Smith and also a song from Domineko (album release show 01-13 at Replay Lounge) with help from DEV3N and Synthetic Salem.

    We kickoff the new year with some great guests and music: Michelle Bacon stops by to talk about The Band That Fell To Earth: A Tribute to David Bowie 2017 this Saturday at recordBar and the guys from Use Your Atlas (formerly Atlas) will play an acoustic set of new music from their brand new album live in our studio.     BEST OF 2016 month wraps up with me playing my favorite songs of the year (songs that Sarah didn’t play last week on her BEST OF, ‘cuz i loved all of her picks too).
