Genesis 32:1-32
So Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. When Jacob saw
them, he said, This is God’s camp. And he called the name of that
place Mahanaim. Then Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his
brother in the land of Seir, the country of Edom. And he commanded them,
saying, Speak thus to my lord Esau, Thus your servant Jacob says: I have
dwelt with Laban and stayed there until now. I have oxen, donkeys, flocks,
and male and female servants, and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find
favor in your sight. Then the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came
to your brother Esau, and he also is coming to meet you, and four hundred
men are with him. So Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed, and he
divided the people that were with him, and the flocks and herds and camels,
into two companies. And he said, If Esau comes to the one company
and attacks it, then the other company which is left will escape.
Then Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac,
the Lord who said to me, Return to your country and to your family, and I
will deal well with you: I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and
of all the truth which You have shown Your servant, for I crossed over this
Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies. Deliver me,
I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I fear him,
lest he come and attack me and the mother with the children. For You said,
I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the sand of the
sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

Genesis 28:1-17 Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went
toward Haran. So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because
the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head,
and he lay down in that place to sleep. Then he dreamed, and behold, a
ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven, and there the angels
of God were ascending and descending on it. And behold, the Lord stood above
it and said: I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac, the
land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. Also
your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth, you shall spread abroad to the
west and the east, to the north and the south, and in you and in your seed all the
families of the earth shall be blessed. Behold, I am with you and will keep you
wherever you go and will bring you back to this land, for I will not leave you until
I have done what I have spoken to you. And he was afraid and said, How
awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the
gate of heaven!

Acts 14:22

reminding them that it is through many hardships that we must enter the Kingdom
of God.
The AMIDA
O Lord, open my lips, so that my mouth may declare your praise. Blessed
are You, LORD our God and the God of our fathers, God of Abraham, God
of Isaac, and God of Jacob, the great, mighty, and awesome God, God Most
High, who bestows acts of loving-kindness and creates all, who remembers
the loving-kindness of the fathers and will bring a Redeemer to their
children’s children for the sake of His name, in love.
Genesis 12:1-2
Now Adonai said to Avram, Get yourself out of your country, away from your
kinsmen and away from your father’s house and go to the land that I will show
you.
I will make of you a great nation, I will bless you, and
I will make your name great, and you are to be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, but I will curse anyone who curses you, and by
you all the families of the earth will be blessed.

Deuteronomy 32:1-6 Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak, And hear,

greatness to our God. He is the Rock, His work is perfect, For all His
ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice, Righteous and
upright is He. They have corrupted themselves, They are not His
children, Because of their blemish: A perverse and crooked generation.
Do you thus deal with the Lord, O foolish and unwise people? Is He
not your Father, who bought you? Has He not made you and established
you?
Deuteronomy 4:26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this
day, that you will soon utterly perish from the land which you cross over
the Jordan to possess, you will not prolong your days in it, but will be
utterly destroyed.
