Welcome to this episode of our podcast, where we discuss the importance of taking action to achieve success. In this episode, we explore how accumulating knowledge, daydreaming, and making grand plans may not necessarily lead to meaningful progress in life.

We start by asking our listeners if they spend all their free time reading and gathering information or are self-help junkies that never seem to make any meaningful progress in life. We highlight the importance of taking action and watching life change before our eyes.

We discuss ideas such as the fact that nothing happens until you act and that it's not what you can do that matters, but what you actually do that counts. We also discuss how beliefs, values, and thoughts influence our behavior and how the law of averages is ultimately on our side.

We end the episode by highlighting how action creates potential and how things start happening when we start moving. We encourage our listeners to reflect on how they want their lives to change, what they can do to make it happen, and when they will get started.

So, join us for this insightful episode as we explore why taking action is the thing that matters when it comes to achieving success and making meaningful progress in our lives.

    Show Notes

Do you spend all of your free time reading and gathering information? Are you a self-help junkie that never seems to make any meaningful progress in your life? Are you trying to take your life to the next level by using the power of your mind alone?

How is that working for you?

Nothing changes until your behavior changes. Sure, you might feel better about your life after all of your mental gymnastics, but is anything actually happening in your life from all of these intellectual efforts?

Take action and watch your life change before your eyes!

    Consider these ideas:

    1. You have to do something for something to happen. Nothing happens until you act. You can’t wish or visualize your way to a plate of food, a fancy car, the partner or your dreams, or a successful business. Those things might make it easier for you to act, but you must still take action of some kind.

    • Unless you’re telekinetic, you can’t even make a paperclip move across your desk without taking action.

  • The more you want to accomplish, the bigger the action you’ll need to take.

    1. It’s not what you can do that matters. It’s what you actually do that counts. The amount of capability you possess only increases the number of options you have available.

    • Having options isn’t the same as choosing one and taking action.

    1. Your beliefs, values, and thoughts influence your behavior. For example, if you believe that you’re smart, capable, and good looking, your behavior will be different than if you believe that you’re simple minded, incapable, and homely in appearance. Here are some more examples:

    • Do you believe that failure is fine or to be avoided at all costs?

  • Do you believe that most people are inherently good or inherently bad?

  • Do you value safety or adventure?

  • Do you have positive thoughts about your goals or negative?

  • None of these things has any actual power in the world, other than that they can alter the choices you make and the actions you take.

    1. The law of averages is ultimately on your side. If your dream is to play the piano, you can certainly do it. You simply have to keep trying. A pro pianist might play a certain piece better than you do, but you’ll most likely be successful eventually.

    • When you take action, you get a result. You’re bound to get the result you want eventually if you take action long enough. Eventually, the law of averages will pay off.

  • When you do nothing, you always fail.

    1. Action creates potential. When you take action, you can learn from your results. When you take action, things change. New opportunities become available. You might meet a new person that can help you get what you want. When you take the first step, the next step appears.

    • Things start happening when you start moving. Nothing happens while you’re learning, scheming, and planning.

Things begin to change when your behavior changes. You’ve proven this to yourself thousands of times throughout your life. Your life changed when you started school, changed schools, and made new friends. Your life was different after you made permanent changes to your diet or started a new diet.

You can’t just accumulate knowledge, daydream, or make grand plans. You have to DO new things.

When your behavior changes, your life changes. How do you want your life to change? What can you DO to make it happen? When will you get started?

Welcome to this episode of our podcast, where we discuss the fear of failure and its impact on our success. In today's show, we explore how the fear of failure is insidious and can prevent us from even trying in the first place, which ultimately guarantees failure.

We start by looking at how small children have no concept of failure and are not concerned about failing. It's only after starting school that we begin to fear the opinions of others, which can limit our potential.

However, failure doesn't have to impact our lives significantly. We discuss the following facts: failure is temporary, common, educational, and others are far less concerned about our failures than we think. We also highlight the importance of focusing on how great it will be when we succeed, redirecting our thoughts, and considering the cost of doing nothing.

We end the episode by asking our listeners to reflect on what they would do if they weren't afraid of failing and encouraging them to reject the fear of failure for a brighter future.

So, join us for this insightful episode as we explore the fear of failure and how to overcome it to achieve our goals and aspirations.

    Show Notes

The fear of failure has killed more dreams than all other fears combined. The fear of failure is insidious, because it’s largely in your imagination. It can also prevent you from even trying in the first place, which guarantees failure.

It’s interesting that very small children have no concept of failure. They couldn’t care less if they fail to do something. They just try again. There are no negative thoughts or emotions involved. They just keep on going.

But it doesn’t take long before children learn to fear the opinions of others. It’s usually around the time they start school. After that first day of school, we’re all changed forever.

It might not be possible to go recapture the mentality of a toddler, but you can come close. The fear of failure doesn’t have to impact your life significantly.

    Consider these facts:

    1. Failure is temporary - unless you quit. Failure isn’t final unless you give up. All the most successful people have experienced a lot of failure. But they ended up being successful precisely because they didn’t quit. Failure is just a temporary state that means nothing, because it’s only temporary.

  • Failure is common. You’ve failed thousands of times and managed to survive. Consider how many times you failed to walk or to talk well. Babies have constant failure.

    • Successful people fail all of the time. It’s a huge part of how human beings learn. We realize that our approach didn’t work, we adjust, and we try again.

  • Failure is educational. You can learn something from every single one of your failures. Failure makes you more knowledgeable and capable. The more you fail, the stronger you become.

  • Others are far less concerned about your failure than you think. A few people might notice your failure, but they quickly turn their attention back on themselves and their own challenges.

    • There’s nothing to worry about. Feel free to fail as much as necessary. Fail enough and you’ll quickly see that no one relevant cares.

  • Focus on how great it will be when you succeed. Instead of worrying about possible failure, consider possible success. Make yourself feel excited and positive about taking action.

    • With high enough expectations, you’ll do just about anything without worrying about failure.

  • Redirect your thoughts. Put your attention on what you’re doing. If a negative outcome isn’t going to cause any real harm, forget about the outcome. Stay focused on your actions or something positive. Thinking about failing will freeze you in your tracks.

  • Consider the cost of doing nothing. Taking action might be a little scary, but what will happen if you do nothing?

    • What will you feel about failing to take action?
  • What if you’re stuck in your current life for the next decade or more?
  • Maybe taking a risk is far more attractive than remaining where you are.

  • What would you do if you weren’t afraid of failing? Probably a lot more than you’re currently doing! How much has the fear of failure limited your life?

We’ve all allowed the fear of failure to influence our decisions. We’ve allowed this fear to stop us from trying new things or taking risks. We all have smaller lives than we could because we’re too concerned with what others think.

Rejecting the fear of failure is one of the greatest things you can do for your future!

You can start today. What are you going to do today that you’ve been afraid to try?

A Crucial Guide to Maintaining a Healthy Work-Life Balance

It’s no secret that maintaining a work-life balance is essential for a happy and productive life. But it's tough to achieve when you’re constantly feeling pulled in different directions. Whether you’re trying to please your boss, meet deadlines, or spend time with your family, it’s hard to find the time to relax and rejuvenate.

Establishing a realistic work-life balance is crucial for your mental, physical, and emotional health.

Here are some valuable tips to help you establish a sustainable work-life balance that supports your health and happiness:

    1. Understand the importance of a work-life balance. You’re likely putting your health at risk if you’re constantly working. In addition, you might sacrifice time with family and friends, leading to feelings of isolation and loneliness.

    • It’s essential to find a healthy balance between work and the rest of your life to avoid burnout and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

    • You’ll be happier and less stressed. Studies show that people who have a healthy work-life balance are more optimistic and less stressed than those who don’t.

    • In addition, when you’re able to manage your time effectively, you’ll feel more in control of your life and less overwhelmed by your obligations.

    • You’ll have more time for friends and family. Your family and friends play an essential role in your life, so make time for them. You might miss out on important events or milestones if you’re always working.

    • Schedule regular check-ins with your loved ones to stay connected and up to date on what’s going on in their lives.

    • You’ll be more productive at work. Workaholics think they’re being productive by putting in long hours, but that’s not always the case. You’ll be less effective if you’re constantly working because you’re exhausted and stressed.

    • You’ll feel energized and focused when you have a healthy work-life balance.

    • You’ll have time for hobbies and interests. A work-life balance allows you to focus on your hobbies and interests outside of work. When you’re not entirely swamped with work, you can devote time to activities that make you happy.

    • Create a schedule that allows for time off from work. One way to achieve a work-life balance is to create a plan that includes regular time off from work. It might mean taking a few days off each week or taking a vacation.

    • If you can’t take time off, try to create blocks of time during the day when you’re not working. For example, you might set aside an hour for lunch or take a break in the evening to relax.

    1. Set boundaries with your co-workers and boss. It’s important to set boundaries with your co-workers and boss so that they respect your time outside of work.

    • For example, let them know your availability and when you’re not available to work. If you need to, put up a “Do Not Disturb” sign when you’re taking a break or working on personal projects.

    • When setting boundaries, be clear about what you expect from others. For example, let people know if you don’t want to be disturbed during certain hours.

    • If you need help with a project, explain what you need and when you need it.

    • Communicate your needs firmly but politely. Use a polite tone and respect your colleagues and boss. Avoid being rude or aggressive.

    • Don’t be afraid to say “no”. It’s important to know your limits and not agree to requests that interfere with your personal life. For example, if your boss asks you to work on a project during your free time, it’s perfectly acceptable to say “no.”

    1. Prioritize self-care. Take a break from work to go for a walk or take some time for yourself. In addition, ensure you’re getting enough sleep, eating healthy meals, and exercising regularly.

    • When you prioritize self-care, you’ll find that you have more energy. Again, this is because you’re taking care of your body and mind.

    • You’ll be less stressed. If you’re taking care of yourself, you’ll reduce your stress levels and be able to handle stress better when it occurs.

    • When you’re well-rested and not stressed, you’ll be more productive at work. Research suggests that taking regular breaks can improve your productivity.

    • Companies like Google allow staff to nap during the day to improve productivity. Take 20-minute power naps during the day if you feel overwhelmed or burned out.

    • When you make time for yourself, you’ll be happier and feel more fulfilled. Stress increases the risk of depression and anxiety. So, by reducing your stress levels, you’ll improve your mental health.

We all have different obligations and responsibilities, so there’s no one-size-fits-all solution to achieving a work-life balance. However, by understanding the importance of a work-life balance and taking steps to create one, you can strengthen your overall well-being.

Experiment with different scheduling and self-care techniques until you find what works best. And don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. Creating a work-life balance is a journey, not a destination, so enjoy the ride!
