Welcome back to another effervescent episode of DC Beer, where we tap into the heart of the region's craft brew scene! Jacob Berg, joined by our veritable encyclopedia of ale Michael Stein and Papa Beer Richard Fawal, leads us through an episode brimming with insights from the local beer world.
We start by checking in with metrobar's John Groth, who fills us in on the 12 Beers of Christmas event. Veering away from the traditional and possibly overwhelming advent calendar format, he's curated a thoughtful selection of a dozen seasonal local beers that will resonate with beer aficionados and casual drinkers alike. Join the team at DC Beer at metrobar on Saturday, for a taste of all 12 holiday brews! Your ticket gets you access to the afternoon tasting with 3oz pours of each of the 12 beers and discussion with the DC Beer team and the breweries in attendance. We're also thrilled to welcome Emily Brown of Andy's Pizza (and more), who will fill us in on the much-anticipated opening of Foggy Bottom's Andy's Pizza - the newest slice of heaven for pizza and beer aficionados. She'll pour out the challenges of curating beer selections amidst Montgomery County's bureaucratic maze and share how sourcing sought-after suds has become smoother in Virginia and DC.
Our bubbly discussion will venture into the contrasting beer tastes of Virginia and DC, from the hazy obsession of Virginia beer lovers to DC's darker cravings. Emily’s passion for the craft will shine through as we chat about her New York beginnings, Andy's Pizza's commitment to an educated staff, and the struggle to get the recognition they deserve on local beer lists. We’ll also host a toast to community and connect over the perfect pairings of hazy IPAs and festive foods.
So pull up a stool, friends. Whether you're here for the camaraderie, the latest beer trail news, or just on the hunt for nonalcoholic options, The DC Beer SHow has a pour for every palate. Let's raise a glass to the stories and the storytellers of the DC beer scene!
Cheers to you all and be excellent to each other.
