Empathie is a brand-new French-language series from Canada, which means it’s in Québécois French! For me, it was the first time watching a show in this accent, and it was fascinating. The series even includes subtitles at times because some Québec expressions are so different from those used in France!

Empathie follows Suzanne Bien-Aimé, a psychiatrist who starts a new job in a psychiatric hospital. There, she meets many patients, colleagues, and Mortimer, played by French comedian Thomas Ngijol. Together, they face not only their professional challenges but also their own emotional journeys.

The show explores powerful themes like mental health, empathy, the impact of the past, and hope. It’s moving, deep, sometimes funny, and always human. What makes Empathie special is how it portrays people: not just their illnesses, but their emotions, stories, and humanity.
