Starting off with no experience in podcasting, my daughter Joanna and my podcast mentors have been instrumental in helping me with this beautiful journey. This has given me the opportunity to share my nursing experiences with new nurses globally.

Empathy is one of the elements of Emotional Intelligence that must be embraced by a nurse as she/he cares for the patients that are entrusted to their care. The understanding of one's feelings and connectivity in administering nursing care is critical. It is important to understand another person's thoughts, and feelings, from their point of view, rather than your own.

Dr. Smith encouraged women to celebrate their contributions and differences to make the world a better place. Young and new nurses are encouraged to emulate the positivity of the seasoned nurses, especially the baby boomers who are now retiring from this noble profession. Let us advocate for the patients as well as ourselves.

RJ shared his experiences as a Sobriety Coach with a network around the world. Dr. Smith congratulated him on his progress in the mental space as he impact both males and females around the globe by taking accountability and now making a positive difference in society.
After the insertion of the foley catheter, there should be strict maintenance to prevent infection. There must be proper security of the tube on the patient's thigh, the system should remain closed, no twisting of the tube, collection bag should be located below the bladder to prevent any backflow of urine into e bladder. The nurse must advocate for the removal if there is no need indicated as soon as possible. Pericare as per policy and as needs are. Some hospitals have some special per- kits that are used for that purpose.
Joanna Smith, MSC, is a young black female geotechnical engineer who has contributed to society by utilizing and sharing her talent of initiating the merging of math, roller skating, negotiation, science, and art for developing young minds choosing their path for the future. She has many friends who are nurses in leadership. Her passion is ensuring that children of color can develop and utilize their God-given potential and talents, thus contributing remarkably to society.
Mary Eliza Mahoney was born 1845 in Dorchester, Massachusetts, was the first professionally trained black nurse in America. Thanks for her legacy and her contribution to the nursing profession. Today, their are many black nurses that have joined the professional nursing systems from around the world, with diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Marcia Harris, MD, was interviewed by Dr. Miriam Amanda Smith, DNP. Dr. Harris shared her experiences as a black female MD in her era. Shouts of appreciation for such pioneers as they cleared the path for others to follow. As we share in celebrating Black History Month, we must say we have come far and let us show the world that we care.
