Environmental racism is real. On this episode of Tamarindo, we talk to environmental justice lawyer Claire Woods about how Black and Brown communities face the brunt of many environmental justice issues, the connection to racism, and what we can do to help. Claire Woods is the Senior Attorney and Director of Environmental Justice Policies and Programs at Greenfield environmental. Previously, as a senior attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council, Claire led litigation and advocacy efforts to secure safe drinking water, curb air emissions, protect species, and maintain critical environmental protections for communities. Claire started her environmental justice work over ten years ago in the U.S. Department of Justice where she represented the United States in lawsuits to enforce the Clean Air Act and the Clean Water Act.
