When Allison Dayton lost her beloved brother Preston to suicide, her world shifted. Preston had come out as gay at just 13 years old—in a time when being gay was often misunderstood, feared, or treated like something to “fix.” Years later, when her own son came out, Allison knew the Lord had been preparing her heart since she was a young girl to love, support, and stand beside him—and the LGBTQ community—without hesitation.

Out of her personal journey of grief, love, and deep faith, Allison founded Lift and Love, a foundation that helps families embrace their LGBTQ loved ones while staying close to God. What began in 2019 as a small support group for moms has grown into a worldwide community offering resources, encouragement, and a message that is changing hearts: You are safe. You are loved. You are a child of God.

In this moving conversation, Allison shares her perspective on generational understanding, how God’s timing shapes our hardest trials, and why embracing the full “box of 64 crayons” God gives us makes the world more beautiful.
