What if the angels you’ve prayed for… were actually your ancestors?
And what if God has been sending help all along — even when grief made it hard to feel Him?
Brooke Stone — singer, songwriter, and part of the beloved trio Mercy River — has spent more than 17 years sharing her testimony through music. But behind the albums, the tours, and the harmonies are deeply personal experiences with God, identity, angels, and healing.
Brooke opens up about growing up in a faith-filled home, discovering her worth as a 9th grader reading scriptures alone, and choosing Jesus Christ even when it meant standing by herself. From a near-fatal car accident to raising four children alongside her band sisters, she’s learned that walking with Christ makes everything more possible.
But one of the most powerful parts of her story comes from Mercy River’s Christmas album and the creation of the song “Undeniable” — a song written from the perspective of an angel. Inspired by Elder Jeffrey R. Holland’s counsel to “ask angels to help you,” Brooke and her group began praying specifically for angelic help in their arrangements, scheduling, composing… and every single time, miracles happened.
Then, just six months after that album released, Brooke’s mother passed away unexpectedly. After all her study on angels and after feeling her great-grandmother during the album process, Brooke expected to feel her mother immediately. Instead, grief created a barrier — and she felt nothing.
But God was playing the long game.
Through small, sacred experiences — friends showing up with phrases like “I felt like I was supposed to do this for you” — Brooke slowly realized that her mother was near. The communication was just different. Gentle. Subtle. Undeniable in its own way.
Today, Brooke testifies that our ancestors are deeply connected to us — an eternal chain of angels watching over their families. And even when we can’t feel them because of pain or heartache, God still finds a way to reach us through others, through light, and through the quiet assurance that we are never alone.
If Brooke’s story touched something in you, share this episode with someone who needs a reminder that God is aware of them — and that heaven is closer than they think.
