Matt is joined with Matt Sheather (Strava Matt) to interview the Race Director of the Royal Challenge, Steve Southwell.

Steve talks about growing up in the Sutherland Shire and being active in local Surf Clubs and the Cronulla Triathlon Club. He chats about his family’s long association with the tri club and how his father Bob didn’t start racing until he was in his late 50’s and went on to race in Hawaii’s Ironman and dominate his age group for the next twenty years.

Steve talks about the race he started called the Royal Challenge, now in its eighth year, the non-profit event has raised one hundred and eighty thousand dollars for children’s charities.

He shares the challenges and learnings he has made as an Event Manager, including some funny stories about participants sneaking a beer in between legs.
