The closing days of February will see Sweden's Riksdag begin its review of Swedish gambling taxes, in which the Budget of 2024 has proposed to increase gambling’s base tax from 18-to-22% of income.
Following a year of costly compliance adjustments, imposed on Sweden’s Gambling Act - Licensed operators believe that they have been left in the cold as a tax increase threatens to disrupt Swedish gambling once more.
Meanwhile in Germany, sports betting trade association Deutscher Sportwettenverband (DSWV) has called on the Bundeslander to support its calls for the “realignment of Interstate online gambling laws in 2024”.
The trade body reiterates its warning to Bunderlander that the Interstate market faces a 50% exposure to the blackmarket, and that deficiencies will be exposed this summer as Germany hosts the UEFA Euro 2024 championships… However, is anybody listening?
This will be the topic on today's episode of iGaming Daily, sponsored by Optimove, where Martyn Elliott is joined by SBC News' Ted Menmuir.
