Today J.R. talks about the importance of the four letter F word: fail. It’s a powerful force – and if we are to be healthy and resilient leaders we must face this concept of failure directly and courageously.
J.R. shares that how you define success will define you – and conversely, how you define failure will also define you.
Here are the four reflection questions he submits to resilient leaders:
1. What’s your favorite leadership mistake? What’s the leader fail you’ve committed? What was it and why is it your favorite?
2. A great question to ask yourself in the midst of failure: “Did we do any learning yet?” “What can I learn and how can I grow from this situation I am in?” “What can I learn for next time?”
3. How do you define success? How do you define failure? Because how you define those terms will define you.
4. And like Ray Dalio, “Have I or am I creating a culture in which it is okay to make mistakes and unacceptable not to learn from them?”
