I discuss the history, law, and context for today’s rule, announced by the Trump administration, to enforce our public charge laws. It’s common sense and quite modest compared to the actual law, yet the media is going insane over it. I explain what the rule will do and how a huge amount of public charge will still be left on the table. Then, of course, there is illegal immigration, which remains untouched by this proposal.
