The Supreme Court on Thursday struck down affirmative action in college admissions, declaring race cannot be a factor after nearly 50 years. The decision forces colleges and universities to look for new ways to achieve diverse student bodies without considering race.
We break down the decision with Supreme Court watcher and Mo News Podcast friend Sharon McMahon of SharonSaysSo. We discuss the arguments by the various justices (including the very personal language in the opinions), the exceptions to the ruling and what it means for colleges, employers, the military and the nation. The conversation was part of a breaking news Instagram Live on @mosheh on Thursday afternoon following the decision.
We also discuss the upcoming major student loan case, and other Supreme Court headlines including calls for them to adopt a code of ethics.
