We sit down with Wild Sheep Society of BC Director Josh Hamilton and talk about all things wild sheep. Josh is a Director living in Charlie Lake, BC and has been the lead on Northern Burns for the past four years for the Society. Josh is also the Indigenous Relations Chair for WSSBC. He is a husband, father, trapper, conservationist and a passionate hunter.
On this episode we talk to Josh about recent prescribed burns that were completed in the Peace Region at the end of May. This project was lead by the Wild Sheep Society of BC with funding support from Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation and the Wild Sheep Foundation. Josh discusses the many challenges and barriers that were overcome to bring prescribed fire to the North, why he is so passion about prescribed fire and what is in store in the future for the Society with regard to these Northern projects.
Josh has some lofty goals for prescribed fire in the North and is passionate about ensuring wild sheep have the habitat they need to roam. He references 90 sites for prescribed fire in the North over the next five years. There is no question Josh’s dedication and passion for this conservation work.
