This week marks a first for the Psychotronic Film Society podcast! For this week's entry into our Psychotronic Summer series, we're taking a look at not just one, but two films, both of which are celebrating big anniversary's this year: 1958's THE BLOB, starring Steve McQueen, and its 1988 remake, directed by Chuck Russell of NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. 3 fame!
The original was a modest hit upon release and we'll discuss how it came to be (did you know it was directed by a minister who got into film to creat religious shorts?!). The remake, however, didn't fare too well at the box office, but over the past three decades has garnered quite a reputation as an unsung classic of 80s horror and practical effects.
In another first for the show, we're nominating both of these films for the Psychotronic Hall of Fame, and letting you decide if either (or neither, or both!) make it in!
