Oh it's a wonderful time of year! The veggies are starting to ripen all over the South -- tomatoes, squash, and cucumbers, oh my! -- so for a little inspiration for summer cooking I recently turned to Chef Kevin Johnson of The Grocery in Charleston, SC. He is really a master at preparing vegetables. In fact, veggies are what inspired him to cook. In college, he became a vegetarian and decided that he better figure out how to feed himself, so he started reading cookbooks and cooking. That led him to some amazing kitchens, to a restaurant all his own, and to James Beard nominations. Although he's gone back to eating a little meat, the fresh food from the garden is still a daily inspiration for him. I want to know, how in the world did he make me crave cauliflower?
