The Coach's Journey - build a coaching business with integrity

Episode #46: Henrietta Nelson – Nobody Else Can Put a Feeling in You

Listen Later

Henrietta Nelson has always been interested in people’s minds.

She describes how, during a decade spent working as a solicitor specialising in insurance litigation, she would study her colleagues’ faces, observing their drives and motivations.

After a friend recommended a two-day course at The Coaching Academy, Henrietta felt the pieces begin to fall into place.

Becoming a coach has given Henrietta fresh perspective. In this episode she talks about facing down feelings of impatience, and shaking off the sense that life is happening elsewhere.

We discuss the beauty and the difficulty of becoming free to choose how we work as coaches. As a lawyer, nobody wanted Henrietta to indulge in experiments, but as a coach she works creative wonders with her clients.

If you’re dealing with self-doubt, caught up in comparisons, or in need of a reminder that the journey you’re on is valid, full of potential and uniquely yours, Henrietta’s reflections on her arrival at a place filled with meaning might be just what you need to hear.

In this episode, we talk about:

The inside-out phenomenon, and how our thinking about the outside world impacts us

Dealing with perceived rejection and early setbacks

Letting go of getting everything right, and of linear trajectories

Coping with anxiety in order to find inspiration

The balancing act required when coaching part-time or navigating the demands of family life

Henrietta also shares what she gleaned as a listener to this podcast, offering valuable reflections on particular episodes and insights that stood out for her.
