Today on the show, we’re joined by the incredible Calli Hauger-Thackery, and wow, she’s definitely one to watch right now. She just ran a massive PR in Japan, clocking in a time of 66:58 for the half marathon, which placed her second. Recently, she also returned to the track for the first time in eight years, where she raced indoors.

Calli’s versatility as an athlete is truly something to admire. She made her marathon debut at the McKirdy Micro Marathon in 2023, where she won with an impressive 2:22:17. That victory set the stage for an incredible year ahead. Not long after, she was selected to represent Great Britain at the Paris Olympics, although she had to DNF that race due to a variety of challenges. We dive into all of that in the episode.

But Calli didn’t stop there. She came back strong, running a PR of 2:21:24 in Berlin, and then went on to win the California International Marathon (CIM) last year with a 2:24:28, including a thrilling sprint to the finish. She’s sponsored by Nike and coached by her husband, Nick, and she’s been crushing some truly fast times.

We recorded this before the Gate River Run, but Calli went on the win that last weekend. She’ll also be running the TEN 10k on the track and is preparing for her first Boston Marathon in April. It’s going to be an exciting time for her, and she’s just such a positive presence in the running world, always bringing great energy and showing up alongside all of these amazing women running incredible times.
