Matt states in  his teenage years played sports at schools main focus was discus for which he competed at county level.

in his early to late 20s, after being diagnosed with epilepsy, Matt not being allowed to drive got himself a bike to get around, after enjoying being out cycling he joined his local bike club and started doing a mix of cycling and running including local time trials, sportifs, local duathlons, 10ks and half marathons.

In his late 20s- early mid 30s he focused on powerlifting. Matt competed in drug free competitions and he qualified for deadlift in his bodyweight category for his country  at the European competition.

The last 4 years- Matt has turned  his attention back to triathlon and duathlons. He Joined his  local triathlon club, Off that couch fitness. He has competed in sprint triathlons, standard distance triathlons and outlaw x 2021.

Matt then decided to focus on  sprint duathlons this year and has gained a qualifying place for the GB team in Venice next year for the European duathlon championships

Matt has  also entered Manchester Marathon in April and IM Bolton in July 2023.
