The Oakland Athletics have made a habit of trading away some of their best players over the course of their history. None of them have been quite as disastrous as trading Babe Ruth, but they haven't come out ahead on every deal.

When the A's traded Mark Mulder, it was just two days after trading another part of their "Big 3" in Tim Hudson. One of these trades worked out, the other one didn't. Jason goes into where the A's were at as a team entering that fateful winter, one way these trades could have been avoided, and just what the A's got back for Mulder when that trade was completed a week before Christmas.
