When I asked Erich von Däniken what has driven his lifelong pursuit to learn the truth about whether we’ve been long “visited” by aliens from a distant “place,” his answer was simple but profound: “Curiosity is like a monster in our brain.” Some cannot escape the temptation to ask questions, and big ones at that. von Däniken is a the personification of a case-in-point!

Big questions are what continue to drive this now 84 year old author who was instrumental in making the HIstory Channel’s Ancient Aliens program a serial success!

Have we been in the company of visitors from the stars for all these years? And if so, why? Moreover, what are the correlations between the stories told in our ancient religious texts who speak of “others” having come to visit us from the stars and what is happening now? Are they still here?

Although von Däniken hasn’t entirely settled on an answer, his question remains clear. Who or what is God in this context and how does God fit into this big picture – this idea that we are not alone?

In the spirit of humility, a characteristic von Däniken has touted all these years, he’s still in a quandary as to why he received so much disdain over a book (Chariots) that boasted more question marks than any other book he’d read or heard of. Even the title CHARIOTS OF THE GODS? includes the question punctuation!

“We have a lot of question marks [about life] and we want to be satisfied. We ask more questions, and we wish to have more definite answers,” he said.
