“Lilly loved to dance!” These are the words of a grieving grandmother after a Birmingham man was found guilty today, yesterday, 24th March, of murdering her precious granddaughter.

Lilly Hanrahan was just 21-months-old when she was rushed to hospital with a catastrophic head injury and six broken ribs in November 2017. 

Although surgeons battled to save her, her injuries were unsurvivable, and doctors withdrew her life support three days later.

A woman who left her pet dog locked in a house for weeks to starve to a third of her normal body weight and appeared like a ‘walking skeleton’ has been banned from keeping animals indefinitely.

The Husky-type cross dog called Yogi was so emaciated that the RSPCA inspector who rescued her said she was the thinnest dog she had seen alive.

Yogi weighed just 8.75kg when rescued, but a dog of that breed would typically weigh around 30kg.

A night of rioting in Bristol.

A paramedic has broken down after returning to her car following a busy shift to find that mindless morons had spayed her vehicle with graffiti. 

Bronwen Newbury had just spent over 12 hours responding to life-or-death emergency calls when she returned to her vehicle before heading home. 

After seeing the damage to her car, the life-saver said she "got a bit teary".

Posters have been placed on lamposts in-and-around the area which saw widespread violence and property damaged at rioters' hands in Bristol at the weekend. 

During the riot, which started outside of Bridewell Police Station in Bristol, 22 police officers were injured - two of them seriously. 

One of the seriously injured officers suffered a punctured lung whilst the other was admitted to hospital with multiple broken bones.

Several emergency response police vehicles were also set alight and a police building damaged.

Avon & Somerset Police have said that a 'significant' investigation is now underway to identify and arrest the rioters responsible for the widespread disorder last weekend outside the Bridewell Police Station in Bridewell Street.

Over 100 officers have now formed part of a task group whose aim is to identify and arrest the individuals responsible for assaulting 21 police officers - two of them seriously - destroying police vehicles and damaging police property. 

At one point, a rioter tried to set fire to a police van as the officers inside attempted to reverse away from other police vehicles which had been set alight.

A man from Derby has been jailed for eight years after being found guilty of raping a young woman in his van.

Sudesh Kumar, of Carsington Crescent, in Allestree, denied the horrific offence which took place back in August 2018.

But he was found guilty and sentenced during a hearing last week.

Six people have been released on police bail following an operation by Suffolk Constabulary, which saw 80 suspected stolen dogs recovered from the West Meadows travellers' site in Ipswich.
