In Part 2 of The Relationships That Shape Your Marriage, we expose how ungodly counsel operates beneath the surface—hooking your emotions, distorting your discernment, and slowly pulling you out of covenant.
Most spouses are trying to fix their marriage……while staying connected to the very relationships that are corrupting it.
Scripture is clear:“Bad company corrupts good morals.” (1 Corinthians 15:33)But most people read that verse without understanding the context Paul is addressing—a group of people who rejected the resurrection. And that matters to your marriage more than you think.
Part 4 exposes the spirit of division operating through a soulish spouse.Scripture draws a clear line between psuchikos (soulish) and pneumatikos (spiritual) in 1 Corinthians 15:42–50. One is governed by the soul—emotions, impulses, instability. The other is governed by the Spirit—life, order, and power. When a spouse is driven by emotions and not submitted to the Spirit, they remain soulish. And a soulish person is not neutral—they are divided, unstable, and susceptible to influence.
“Emotional safety” isn’t what you think it is……and chasing it may be the very thing destroying your marriage. In today’s episode, we confront a hard truth:Your emotions were never meant to lead your marriage. They were meant to be submitted, crucified, and resurrected in Christ.Because when emotions go ungoverned…they don’t just “express pain” — they produce fruit. And scripture is clear:Emotion → Action → FruitIf your marriage feels:— unstable— restless— full of anxiety, fear, or chaos— spiritually dry or disconnected…it is not random. It is the result of spiritual laws at work within the soul.In this episode, we walk through:— Why “emotional safety” is a misinformed and dangerous standard— How ungoverned emotions produce unbelief and unwillingness (Hebrews 3)— Why some spouses cannot receive anything from the Lord (James 1)— The direct connection between your emotional state and the fruit in your marriage— The difference between chaotic emotion and righteous indignation— How chaos manifests spiritually (shame, vengeance, destruction, pride, falsehood)— Why your healing will never come from analyzing your spouse— How to return to God’s design for your soul, your role, and your marriageThis is not a light message. It is a prophetic and scriptural warningfor any spouse who has allowed emotion to take lordship over their soul.Because the truth is:You are not stuck…You are not waiting…You are not powerless…You are either:— producing fruit from the Spirit—or producing fruit from the flesh…and your marriage is revealing which one.
You cannot trust your heart with your marriage.Your heart will lie to you.Your heart will justify what feels right…while producing what is wrong. Many spouses have become more committed to their emotions than they are to their covenant. They are slow to honor the vow that passed their lips…but quick to defend their feelings, their reactions, and their perspective. And Scripture directly confronts this.In this episode, we break down the biblical reality of the human heart:— deceitful (Jeremiah 17)— defiling (Mark 7)— darkened (Romans 1)— hardened (Hebrews 3)— self-deceived (James 1)If your emotions are not governed, they will become your master. And whatever masters you…will produce fruit in your marriage. But Psalm 119 gives us a different model.David didn’t trust his heart—he trained it.— he sought God with all his heart— he asked God to incline his heart— he stored the Word in his heart— he disciplined his heart to obeyEven in grief, pressure, and real opposition…his emotions never led him into sin. Why?Because he brought them under the authority of God’s Word before acting on them.In this episode, we walk through:• Why your heart cannot be trusted without transformation• How ungoverned emotions distort your view of your spouse• The discipline required to train your heart through Scripture• Why most marital conflict is fueled by unsanctified emotions• How the Word of God renews and governs your soulThis isn’t about suppressing emotions. It’s about refusing to let them lead.Because when your emotions lead, your marriage suffers. When the Word leads, your marriage transforms.
There is a battle for lordship in your soul that is directly affecting your marriage.Your mind.Your will.Your emotions. And every day those emotions are producing fruit. You are either mastering your emotions and producing righteous fruit…or you are being mastered by your emotions and producing destruction.
We are entering into a time where the weight and gravity of spiritual blindness in marriage is increasing. Many spouses are quietly grieving the life, covenant, and intimacy they once had… while simultaneously learning how to maintain the appearance of a functioning marriage. An external adornment is created to hide an internal condition.A public image replaces consecration.Performance replaces obedience.Narratives replace repentance. But the Spirit of God is confronting this in the church today. In this teaching, Derek walks through the biblical reality that many marriages are not failing because God has abandoned them — they are suffering because spouses are unwilling to be taught by Him.
Scripture warns repeatedly about false doctrines, seductive teachings, and persuasive philosophies that slowly lead believers away from truth (2 Corinthians 10:5, 1 Timothy 4:1, Colossians 2:8).And today many Christian marriages are quietly operating under belief systems that never came from God.Some of these doctrines come directly from secular culture.Others have been slowly repackaged with Christian language. But all of them distort God’s design for covenant. In this episode, we expose 16 false doctrines that are quietly destroying marriages.THE 16 FALSE DOCTRINES DESTROYING CHRISTIAN MARRIAGESThe Doctrine of Divorce as a Biblical EscapeThe Doctrine of Weaponized NarcissismThe Doctrine of Attachment Theory as Moral AuthorityThe Doctrine of Personality Identity Over Spiritual TransformationThe Doctrine of Relational Equity Over Covenant RighteousnessThe Doctrine of Conditional SubmissionThe Doctrine of Restructured Families & Blended CovenantThe Doctrine of Verbal Repentance Without FruitThe Doctrine of Spiritual Practices Without the Fear of GodThe Doctrine of Performance-Based RestorationThe Doctrine That Marriage Can Remain Spiritually NeutralThe Doctrine of Conditional Healing After InfidelityThe Doctrine of Selective Law-Keeping in MarriageThe Doctrine That Trauma Removes Moral ResponsibilityThe Doctrine of Isolated ChristianityThe Doctrine of Communication Tools Without Spiritual RenewalMany of these ideas are widely accepted in modern Christian culture. But when belief systems contradict the truth of Scripture, they slowly reshape the way spouses interpret sin, repentance, forgiveness, covenant, and restoration. And when that happens, the foundation of the marriage begins to collapse. If a marriage is going to be restored according to God's design, false doctrines must be confronted before truth can rebuild what has been broken.Watch the full teaching to understand how these belief systems take root — and how to return to the truth that restores covenant.📖 Key Scriptures Discussed:2 Corinthians 10:51 Timothy 1:3-71 Timothy 4:1Colossians 2:8Ephesians 4:14Galatians 1:6-72 Peter 2:1Titus 1:10-112 Corinthians 3Revelation 3:16

It is the eternal position of the enemy. And when we align our mind, will, emotions, and conduct with the defeated one, we begin to inherit his verdict inside our marriage.
