ETERNAL WORD OF LIFE MINISTRY (EWLM)

TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Lenten fast is beyond just being an annual ritual of staying away from food, meat and drinks for a period of time. It's rather a season of putting to death the evil and wicked tendencies and actual ungodly dispositions and activities in us in order to live out more effectively the virtues and values of the kingdom of God. Kindly listen to today's episode of my podcast for details of today's homily.

TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Our choices in life to a great degree colour what life becomes for us. If you desire the fullness of life you must consciously and intentionally make choices that promote life. Jesus Christ is the full manifestation of the Divine Life. It's only in Him that we find the fullness of life: life that never ends. To choose life then implies choosing the way of life of Jesus Christ who is the way to God the Father; the source of all life. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. St. Augustine says that "our heart is restless until it rests in God." At Ash Wednesday God invites us to a life of rest, peace and fulfilment through reconciliation with Him. The flesh is but dust and shall certainly return to dust. The soul, which is the life force animating the body/flesh, shall return to God at the end of our earthly life. It's only when we're truly reconciled with God and live in full communion with Him that we find the peace, rest and fulfilment that we seek. Therefore, be reconciled to God, for this is the moment of salvation. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Life will never be without distracting factors; some positive and some negative, some are pleasant while others are unpleasant. These notwithstanding, we must always stay faithful and focused if we must get the best out of life, fulfil our destiny and find peace in God. Despite all that life throws at you, stay faithful and focused always. Humiliating experiences often precede great elevation and exaltation; the greater the humiliation the greater the anticipated glorification, elevation and exaltation. So, don't give up. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith cannot be nourished and sustained without the Word of God which is the source of faith. This is because faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the Word of God (cf. Rom. 10:17). It's therefore the life lived in faith and guided by the Word of God that leads to true Wisdom. This is what brings order to our disordered world, justice to our world of injustice, healing to our sick world, light to our darkened world, love to a world torn apart by hate and peace to our world of chaos and anarchy. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Indeed, without faith, it's impossible to please God. On the other hand, with faith it's not only possible to please God, it's possible to stay pleased in God. The faith we profess should birth a behavioural change in us that makes us more pleasing in the sight of God and more pleased living in God. The Christian faith does not call for passivity but faith-based activity-oriented way of life. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. What does it profit you to continue in the lifestyle you're imbibing now and suffer rejection from God? Today God invites us to build ourselves up in the tower of virtue and humility rather than in pride and other vices. God is the maker and supreme ruler of the universe and all it contains. He alone has the power to save and destroy. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. Jesus is the Christ; the Anointed one of God and the Saviour of the world. Jesus is not just a mere miracle worker. He is the Christ anointed at His baptism with the Holy Spirit to save humanity. We must relate with Him recognising Him firstly as Saviour through whom we are reconciled with God and thus made the children of God. TODAY'S HOMILY IN BRIEF. God raises for himself and humanity a remnant from Noah after the great flood. Similarly, Jesus calls us out of the village of unbelief, doubt and sins to give us sight; the sight of the life lived in the beauty of the glory of God and the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit. If we allow Jesus Christ to lead us we're sure of being led out of our doom, afflictions, misfortunes, despair, divided world and calamity into a glorious life characterised by peace, wellness, justice and progress. Let Jesus lead and enjoy the beauty God intends for you and the world. Today we're called to be agents of God's love and instruments of God's work of salvation among His people.
